i was eating a tootsie roll this morning and suddenly i was taken aback by nostlgia and flashes of my childhood. post things here that remind u of your childhood and why
cigarette smoke and the smell of a campfire: cause my mom was a smoker and whe used to co camping a lot. she would sit me in her lap by the campfire and i could smell the cigarettes and campfire on her.
grape soda: it used to be my favorite, it reminds me of grape popsicles during my birthday celebrations ibn my old house
acoustic guitars: before my mom divorced, my bio father played a cheap old epiphone acoustic on the porch on summer evenings. the memories are vague, but they always return when i hear that familliar sound
dogwood flowers: i grew up in a neighborhood filled with dogwoods. come spring, i used to walk around the hood admiring them. we had a hammock between two dogwoods and i would lay int he hammock and just stare at the flowers

yah most of my memories I totally 'forget' until some object or place triggers a bunch of them. I moved like a mile down the road from my old house I grew up in, and every time I drive by it, I am overwhelmed with happy times at that house.
Some things do that to me aswell....especially certain smells.
At the moment im working at the primary school I went to as a child, so somtimes when im stanfing in the playground keeping an eye on the kids I get flash backs of being there...
It's quite a strange feeling actually....makes me wish I was back there lol

I have flash memories of operation just cause when i was 2 0.o our house was right in the center of fighting apparently i was in a catatonic state for much of it scarred me for life hehe...
but I have great memories of playing in the woods, building forts, waking up and having cold feet saturday mornings while watching cartoons, spending the night at my friend E's house (we actually called him E) and watching beavis and butthead on his cable, playing NBA live 95 on theSNES at his house, playing the original donkey kong country, he was the very first in the neighborhood to get it, he won it from a cereal box! oh man every time i play that game now it takes me waaay back... i miss E
It must be nice to live in the UK
I have not had any Hash Since 1976

warheads sour candies: when i was in elementary school these sour little fuckers were all the rage. i would trade pencils and fun shaped erasers for them. everyone had them and if you didn;t, you were uncool. i would save the wrappers or stick them in my lunch box. lemons were supposedly the most sour. after eating too many, your tongue would get raw.

fuck yea warheads were the best! we used to go to the dollar store and buy tons of warheads, actually thinking about them right now makes my mouth water, probably in fright, those things really do make your tongue raw if you eat enough...

lol, shitttt, warheads were the coolest thing around for, um, about 15 minutes. I too remember going to the hardware store and buying like $10 worth of them, then selling them individually at school for like a quarter a piece. Then after a while they made my teeth hurt, and I could feel the cavities setting in, literally. Sooo much sugar, sooo good.

I have this one really old peaceful one. When the sun is setting and I'm feeling slightly tired or down I remember this one afternoon when I was a little kid I was laying down next to my open window (2 story house) top floor, and it was soooo nice out, sun was setting, it was practically orange out. Then past my backyard since we were living on an army base there was a bunch of tanks and shit in the lot, and the sun was reflecting off it all.Its just something that always stuck with me.

The very first music I ever listened to and have memories of is The Cure, I used to hang out in my brothers dimly lit room as he played his guitars to all the songs and played the drums on books, ahh good memories anytime i hear any of the songs from Show I am immediately transported back to Holland where we were living at the time...

Slip n' slides, Charles in Charge, shrinky dinks, Punky Brewster, Snoopy Sno-Cone machine, Small Wonder, cheesy public service announcements (Hankerin for a hunk of cheese!), Mr. Rogers, Fraggle Rock, You Can't Do That on Television, Swinging on my swingset, playing in my green turtle sandbox, swimming in my little plastic pool, my grandmother, cookouts, jelly shoes, New Kids on the Block... I could go on and on and on. :)

Music and smells does that too me. When I listen to older music, I think back to certain times of my life. When I smell certain perfumes and cologones, it usually reminds me of someone from my past.

whoaaa. That just brought a rush of memories from the birthday parties at the rollerrama. That place was the shit and if you were anybody then you had your birthday there. We would request spice girls from the DJ and when he played our songs we would squeal so much. And the black lights were about the coolest thing ever. I would wear my black and white striped shirt for that special occasion. It would make your face hurt if you looked at it too long under the black light. I miss those days.
AND POGS. I still have a tub full of them. We actually had a pg competition at my highschool a few years back and I was one of the top players. But that may have had something to do with only 3 people entering the tournament.
