Stork...The stoner Fairy came today. Brought me 4 white widows...So, I thought I would show you the rooting process, I am going to try...at least until tomorrow when I decide they must go in a machine.

this is largely for Gen's benefit...But I used 3" netpots filled with perlite for this rooting experiment...
After these babies arrived...I immediately put them into ph'd 5.8 ROwater w/superthrive. 1/4 tsp per gallon.

I soaked them all evening whilst I figured out what I was going to do with them...I originally was going to root them in 1'x1' r'wool starters just for fun, and to bug Zandor...LOL
but, In order to use r'wool correctly...It must be ph'd/soaked overnight in *ph adjusted ROwater. So I just put them directly into perlite.

* I checked ph level of r'wool soaking in ph adjusted RO water and levels had risen back to 7...a characteristic of r'wool..I ph down'd the water in the tub down to 4.9...
Now when I check tomorrow; If ph is low, I can add ROwater until ph is 5.6-5.8...when I used r'wool before I would ph to 5.4 and it would drift up a little by evening.

Caught a bummer though...My buddy sent me a Bad bottle of NO-Wilt...I have waited a year to get this product. (Zandor uses and swears by NO-Wilt)...I go to pour some out to mix...and all these globs of algae or something comes blobbing out:( ...Needless to say, I am not dipping my Kaligirl White Widow clones in booger slime.   Instead, I am going to try the dome method for the 1st time...We will see what happens.

OK...Pix are up. gotta go tend to the garden. lw:smokin:

what is RO water? and what is the best medium for a hydro setup, i'm asking here becasue you said that rockwool is hard to keep pH'd since it's in the 7's to begin with, is there a better alternitive? What about coconut fibers?

GG...ROwater is my abbreviation for Reverse-Osmosis...
basically a water purifier that using reverse Osmosis to pressure out all the minerals/metals in your tap water.

Once purified...I add Botanicare's Calmag+ to add back the appropriate minerals and buffers that are necessary to create a thriving photosynthesis...that was a mouthful. LOL

rockwool is either your best friend or you hate it...I think it has alot to do with the type application. As starters for seedlings or clones, It works well for me, but growers I respect...don't/Won't use it...due to it's PH characteristics.

I now use rapid rooters to germ/start seeds.

I am trying to root 60 cuttings in 1x1" r'wool starters to see if I have a better or worse success ratio than with my hydro cloners. Call it boredom or whatever, but I had about 80 1x1 r'wool laying around, and a couple MUMs bursting with branches full of potential OZ's

I think that hydroton(expanded clay pellets) is the best, most versatile and most forgiving Hydro medium...as well as, being reusable. I root right into netpots filled with hydroton, just as I did with perlite in this thread. Like I said before! We will See!:smokin:

...so away we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Hey Green... i would stay clear from COCO until you feel likeyou understand completely how much water a plant wants.. COCO has given a lot of people trouble who are not watering SAVVY...

ROckwool, hydroton clay pellets..etc.. are all good mediums for hydro..
Aeroponic is the way to go.. : )

Hi, latewood

I will have to add a few photo's of Gen's WW and afgani when I see roots. The mother of the WW is in my tron. 3 others are going to flower when I get 3 papaya to go with them. They do stay short. And my new hortilux solved the stretching problem. A new set of papaya are lookimg completely differenet, more bushy. You guy's got papaya coming monday or tuesday. Iwill make shure you know. Gen I got the job back and lost it in the same week.LOL. They wanted me to work for 3 weeks for nothing to pay for their mistake. I messed up and got into them for 1000 bucks, they only want 3000. Any way cut my loses now. So I have time to send to you guy's. Mother papaya will come down when I send to make room for Afgani, WW, 1strawberry coming up and the misty is comung up too. Waiting on hashberry and a fem orangebud skunk.Things are coming your way, be ready. latewood you clone straight to hydrotron, can you put an air stone in there just to keep the oxy up or do like the perilite. I would like to get rid of this rockwool ?

If you want to lay a 14" airbar(wally's) in the bottom, then fill the bottom of a tub with perlite or hydroton and add some water...you can set netpots right on top of that and your clones seedlings will root (you can see the roots, letting you know, when to move them to system no replanting...the airstone provides even more oxygen, therefore the plant seeks the source...

See post #14 for answer to rest of post.
I put netpots in bubblers...to root...VERY IMPORTANT...Keep netpot a good 1/2 inch above water line...the bubbles from the airstone/s will reach the netpots and wet it just right, allowing for Oxygen in the medium/root area...

If it's bad you can smell it. It gets soar.ther eis nothing smelly about it...but, If you look closely @pix above...the dark spots are slimy clumps of algae; Is my guess...

so, I am a little afraid of spraying algae infested No-Wilt om my imported babies!:(

If you have ever had some 3-part grow...As it got older, there appeared some clumpy slime, in the bottle...algae, I suppose.

It looks like the same thing...all the more reson to keep your nutes bottles in a cabinet, in the dark.

GK, Jdog you both say you would spray them even though you had this substance in your bottle of No-Wilt.

hey turtle, nice to hear from you.

In CA clones are not considered mj plants till they have roots. It's easy to send clones via mail. I put mine in a ziplock bag. Squirt them with some water and blow some air in and seal. Put bag into a crush proof container and make sure no leaks!!! I usually double bag. Wrap with brown paper, use a phoney return address and mail. It's super cheap cause it's so light. The postage to mail across the country was $1.35 from so cal. Send the cheapest way possible.

I used to send poi to a friend in san diego. Poi is perishable so I froze it before I sent it. The poi would arrive still cool in the winter time. Room temperature in the summer. I never lost a batch. That's how I knew I could send clones safely.

Did you know they sent day old chicks across the country with no food or water? They do.

end of day 3...lost 1 WW cutting to damping off today...hope the other 3 hang in there...I am abandoning just spritzing netpots filled with perlite...I am going to put them in a bubbler tonight, just to play it safe.

...took a few cuttings of nl2 and put them in rockwool 1x1's, so I can compare that to my hydro cloning, also.

just a little update, lw

all 27 clones in r'wool are dead...

3 of Gen's WW's developed pyhtium wilt...

I have one lone WW survivor, it looks strong, but no roots showing yet...I love it. I just thought, since I posted no roots yet...they will be there today when I get to grow.

good thing LN baby is sending me some papaya....smiling!

Every time I get going, I have an illness, or some catastrophe, like the time the moth ate my clones, now this latest mishap...

Time for the car to break down, just kidding...

Just wanted to update...Gen, where you been? You paranoid?

will update as soon as roots extend out of netpot.

I think it's ok.
Why not just buy more?
I was always told it would smell if it was old. But I was also told to keep it in the fridge. Maybe thats the difference.
I think it's probably fine. It could be something else that got in there.
Did you dip your plants right in that thing?

Dipping it is fine,by the way.

Hey, latewood. Seems like you and me have the same luck if you want to call it that. Don't say anything about cars breaking down.. LOL I use rockwool but want to get away from it and I'm going to try just hydrtron next. I got a bubbler cloner I must try too. I will go out and get some pic's of Gen's WW. They are awsome, one had a big narly bud on the side (almost smoked it ) that is slow but the other 2 are kicking ass. 1 more is a mother in my tron with a new papaya mother and misty and strawberry not proven yet. I knew something was wrong. I will be happy in 4 more weeks.LOL. Next is gen's monster bitch2, already topped her to hold her back. Next is gen's fat Sally, You ain't had nothing till you had a fat bottom girl, LOL. And the next 2 are gen's mystry, it had a big fat bud on the side, I was going to smoke it but didn't. I expect many nice dreams from her

I have some rooting and some vegging so it should be a sweet summer and if the afgani takes and I get some NL'2 it will be a very sweeeet XMAS for all. I don't have much to no money now but with friends like this who needs it. We all need to get on line and have a big fat one of the best you got and see who can spell the worst. LOL LOC out.

Well, On Gen's 4 cutting's I tried to use Gen's clone methods. this time I am going to clone papaya in my aero/bubbler unit, just for safe cloning...I really want to get rockwool cloning down, but I already lost 27 cuttings to that effort...Your babies are a Godsend for me loc...I will only lose a week, in perpetuality if they root...

Late, I stopped using perlite for clones . I'm glad to see you're using bubbles with perlite. I think that's key. The perlite didn't hold up after a month and it got to be a pain to check the water level everyday. I'm trying several different ways to clone. In soil with a plastic bag on top to hold in humidity in the shade. Bubble cloner indoors. And in a glass jar skunky told me about. I'll let you guys know which one wins.

here we go...success:D :rasta:

We will transplant into new home later on...

Official veg date.60915

what to use??? .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .......I'm gonna veg with 3-part 1-1-1/calmag+/Liquid Karma/Hygrozyme. Of course start with ROwater!!!:)

I want a little more yield/goal is: 1oz per... Currently averaging 1/2oz per... last 2 grows were lucas, and plants don't bulk up as aggressively as I would like to see; In veg photoperiod, using lucas formula* to veg.

So instead of 0-5-10...we are going with 5-5-5 for veg (3-4 weeks), then back to the lucas formula...BUT! Instead of
0-8-16(EC3.0)...I am going to set value @ 0-5-10(EC2.2)

This allows me to use additives a little more freely without fear of overferting and stifling flower production.

* the lucas formula is great:thumbsup: I want more bulk, because I have the headroom. If I were limited to cabinet growing or klozit growing...I would cherish the lucas formula. It does a great job of ferting a smaller, healthy productive plant. I am not complaing when I say 1/2 oz isn't good enough yield...if I wanted I could grow 40 of these 1/2 oz plants in an 8x8' room...but I don't!:(
All I'm saying, is; Alot of you folks are always trying to find a way to grow in those small spaces...using just the lucas method with just 2 (micro-bloom only) of 3-part gh nutes...Bam!
you got the perfect formula...Well enough of that rant.

Back to the Widow..Oh here's the update rooted:dance:  I Officially give you Gen's Widow:smokin: 1 out of 4 aint bad.

dang late she's a beauty! You make me proud.

I am now cloning with co2 water. I'm expecting faster and better rooting since plants use co2 and fish use oxygen. So why are we putting air bubblers with our plants I will never know. I bought a CO2 setup with a tank and solenoid. I hooked up the hydro and adjusted the bubbles of co2 to 1 per 10 seconds and presto chango, I do not need to ph up or down anymore. I'm using the co2 meter from milwaukee (per mountain thanks alot man) and my ph stays level at 5.8. I got the tank on May 13 and have yet to adjust the ph. It's been 6 days. I want to buy another tank just to root my clones. It's the best!!!!! Also my plants are now silent. The bubblers made alot of racket.

thanks Mobay, sorry it took so long to get back and reply to you...how's grow going?

check this out:smokin:
I am now vegging 15/9, because I am growing from seed this grow(new grow)...and I believe that the closer to a 14 hour photoperiod you run during early development the more *females you get.

///*this is the documentation of theory I am currently putting to trials. I have always generally found this, because I was lucky enough for someone else to post it back in the day. I have tried to heed some if not most of this regimen when propagating from seed.

In conclusion; I truly believe these methods to be solid and I recommend anyone try these guidelines to happier, healthier *#feminized growing...

*# article states trials at dutch passion were done on feminized seeds; And that these procedures helped a higher % of seeds to produce Fem's. I believe that this carries over to any seeds; As I have had a high % of fem's
throughout several documented propagation cycles. This is however...Just my 'humble opinion':smokin: ///

Of course I am spritzing them with **Swampwater;) Not trying to start a debate.
but, since this is my thread. I always use Superthrive to spritz my seedlings/rooters/rockwool starters...
I add it to **swamp water for rockwool cloning...

**Swampwater (ph'd ROwater) I make 3 gallons Rowater w/Superthrive, in 5 gallon bucket...set ph around low 5.'s and soak rockwool...after a few hours adjust ph to desired level. I like 5.8-low 6.'s
I am not one to waste anything/throw anything away...So, after I place seeds in starter, I put Swampwater in commercial spray bottle and use this to spritz during propagation...I keep rockwool cubes soaking in surplus Swampwater, just in case I want to germinate more seeds throughout rooting process.

Like a rum factory!?

tidbit: Did you know that In the production of Rum...there is absolutely no waste at all. Everything is refined into gas or some useful waste-product and sold or used to power facility:) ...Go GREEN!:D :D
