I have a plant that is a week or two out from harvest in a Waterfarm. Should I replace the nutrient solution with plain water? If so, for how long before harvest?

And finally, what does this do?

Oh, man. 3 weeks?

What will the plant do for nutes? I assume cannabilize itself. Will this hurt the potency?

Try more like 3 to 7 days. Depend on if you use a cleaner with it like clearx or some of the other but water will do. I tried nutes to the end and the boys I know say it's soil no way it can be hydro. I like the clean taste myself.

The idea is to stop feeding then N about 10 day's before you start to flush. By stopping feeding then N it will force the plant to use up stored chlorophyll and that will speed up the curing process.

Flushing with a commercial flushing product is better then just using water. They really do work and draw out unused nutrients in the plant. The flushing process takes anywhere from 3 to 5 day's if you use a commercial flushing product. It takes 10 day's if you use only water to do a proper flush.

There you go and now we know the real story. I got to start a flush now . I don't have a flush product. Thanks Zandor. Clean is better. Any way to get a signed copy of your books yet ??

The series is called "The Indoor Gardener, Gardening for the Handy Capable"

We are in the process of photographing step-by-step construction; but we are selling our home and moving so that process is on hold. Plus the money from the sale of the home will help pay for the first round of printing. There are a total of 6 books in the first series. The work is so much more then I have ever thought.

I hope everyone thinks its worth the price and find value.

Thanks for asking, when we release the first series my friends here will be among the first to know.

Zandor , please put my name at the top of the list. There is no knowlegde that is not power. I'm shure it will be worth it. I'd go from east coast to west coast for a book sighning. Good luck on selling and moving, I hope you don't get ripped off. You know you can come to the east coast and get a house twice the size for half the money. I know I build them. We get a lot of retired people from up north that just don't want the heat of florida.

I get a headache from smoking the pot I just cured. It's uncured hydro. I'll start the flushing today.

Put me down for a copy of your books too, zandor.

My understanding is that you flush if you don't want to smoke chemicals, which may affect the taste. Flushing has dissadvantages as well as advantages.

Consider:
- If something alive has no food, it eats itself. I assume this must be detrimental to development.
- What you flush with may affect taste.
- If you don't flush you may taste chemicals.
- If you are worried about chemicals you could always just go organic the last week or two, but that probably affects taste too.

I assume any change in the plants' diet may affect taste. I also assume plants grown in 1 soil mix may taste different than a clone of that plant grown in a different soil mix.

Personally, I grow in hydro and I've never flushed. As far as I know, I've never had a nutrient related headache.

Opie Yutts -

You don't want to smoke chlorophyll or maybe you do but the rest of us don't. The purpose is not only to flush out the man made nutrients from the plant but also to also force the plant to burn up stored food and use up the stored chlorophyll.

Even if you grow 100% organic you still need to flush or you will taste the organic compound. Like Bat shit or bird shit or fish shit nobody wants to smoke that either. If you don't flush then you are smoking more chlorophyll and plant matter then trichomes.

Now if all you do is make hash the old school way then you can get by with out flushing. You are not smoking the plant you are only removing the trichomes.

Flushing improves the overall taste you either flush with a commercial flushing product designed for just that purpose or just use Ph adjusted water period. You don't piss on them you don't use orange juice or anything else to flush.

It takes 8-12 day's for a plant to change life cycle so in the time the plant is flushed then no effect on the health. It only takes 3-5 day's to do a proper flush in hydro anyway. What about the point you are cutting the plant with in a matter of a few days.

There are proper waysâ??s to grow and tread this plant and there are wrong ways.

Hang around here long enough and you can learn the right way to grow and finish our beloved plant.

Zandor, I didn't mean to give the impression that I can't learn anything. I believe just the opposite. I was just sharing my experiences and logic, which is of course occasionally flawed.

I didn't think about smoking chlorophyll. How is this bad? What does it do when you smoke it? I thought it was what made the plant green, and everything I smoked has always been some form of the green color. Isn't the plant still mostly green after flushing? And right now I am growing AK's. Everything except for the actual bud seems to turn yellow before harvest. Does this mean the plant ate most, or at least some, of its' chlorophyll? And is it different for different varieties?

Hang around here long enough and you can learn the right way to grow
Please forgive me for being blunt, but doesn't this sound just a little arrogant? I've always held the contention that there is no one right way. As far as I know there are thousands. If the THC hits your brain, you've done it the right way.

As far as I know there is no way I can do it your "right way" and continue with my "right way". My right way is to harvest over a period of time instead of all at once. One can greatly increase ones overall time spent high per harvest if this is done correctly. Is there some way I can flush, and harvest the buds that are ready, when they are ready instead of all at once?
