I am trying to convince 2 friends of mine that cannabis doenst kill brain cells. they're only argument is "so why do people who smoke alot get all burnt out?" this is something i couldnt answer, i really dont know. so could anyone tell me what it is that makes people get that way? and could anyone show me a very credible source that says so as well? i have tried googling but i cant really find what im looking for because my search is too specific.

Cannabis does NOT kill brain cells. People use this as an argument because they are weak, and cannot find any other point. Cannabis kills only one kind of brain cell. Its called a "Glioma Cell" and is not used by the brain to do anything, its basically there to pad it out... And its the only cell in the brain to multiply uncontrolably so by smoking weeed, you are protecting yourself, or lowering the risk of getting a brain tumour (Cancer of the brain)

Tell your friends they can think what they want, but at least you know the real truth about cannabis. They are missing out.

Well thanks for clearing that up. But what causes people to be "burnt out" ?

Its a Plant

Well my very amatuer answer would be something like this:

Since smoking usually leads to laziness and sleeping, people just assume that those "burnouts" are going to be lazy and sleepy forever. People fear what they do not know, so even though most have no understanding of what shit spews out their mouths, they still say it. It's just a repetition of myths passed down. Whether than trying to find out something for themselves then making a judgement, it's easier to just follow the crowd.

Now who's the lazy one?

if you want to find an example of a burnout i bet you could walk into your local headshop and find the owner and just look how he acts...very slow talking/responding to anything and usually they seem to zone out and forget shit...i dunno what causes that shit though

It's a myth. If you are prone to being lazy, then pot will let you do it. If you're movtivated and have a work ethic then it will enable you to work harder.

Mj was historically used by field workers to alleviate fatigue and muscle soreness. Kind of like a dulling of the pain so that they could work longer. If you're burnt out then the problem lies with you my friend. Tommy Chong (really like the actor)persona gave potheads a bad stereo type. Everyone thinks they all act like that. I know professionals who smoke and lead productive lives. So who is burnt out? Your friends? Well, are they motivated to accomplish great things in life or are they trying to run away from it? It's ultimitely your choice.

That head shop owner could also be doing other drugs and alcohol. There are lots of ways to destroy your life, pot is not one of them. No one has ever died of cannabis overdose. Many have died of alcohol and drug abuse.

exactly, cannabis is a plant, jus like valerian, kava, anything you can think of. how you use it determines if you will "burnout" i think it too a myth. do your friends take asprin when they have headache? asprin is proven to kill brain cells. documeted facts. ask them if either(all) if they have/know sum1 who has add, ask them if they found a replacement, a natural replacement for ritalin*(not sure, baked) if they would drink an herbal tea for example, once a day, would they do it or consider it. if they have a common regard for the long term health of their boddies, they'll say yeah. then tell them it was cannabis
p.s. be sure to bring that up 1 day when you arent talking about cannabis and pick your moment and you'll be suprised at thier responses

People who are all slow and burned out at like 50, are people who went thru the hippie generations with every kinda drug you could get your hands on..Im sure its not from pot smoking alone.

It depends on the strain really if you feel 'burnt out' or not. I find that indicas suit me just before I go to bed, and sativas are great for when I feel groggy in the morning.

I have no idea what causes the burnt out feeling...

But weed cant just make you lazy. Next time your stoned, get up and work...

You'll find you can do it fine, but you dont WANT to, and thats where it lies.

The weed doesnt stop you doing stuff, you just cant be bothered, but i think were all laxy anyway.

Who gives a shit. :)

I like to think of my laziness as pratise for when i rule the world muahahahah

I want to point out that these friends I mentioned do smoke weed. They just think it's bad for them and I try and show them that it's not, but they say that whatever websites I get my information from (NORML.org) were just made by potheads who wanted to get it legalized. Any possible way I could convince them without using the internet? Or hell, just anyway that I could convince them that my sources are 100% credible. I know I am right, but what gets under my skin is that they don't.
