I was wondering how many plants I could grow off of a 250W HPS light? I was thinking two but I've seen people growing two off of a 125W, so I have no idea. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Josh

you can grow 1
or you can grow 6
It all depends on the size of the plant..
Personally I would grow 6..
AND you should FLOWER them when they are about 6-10 inches tall..
No taller...

A 250 watt light has very little penetration... so if you gro small plants you will get a few nice BUDS!!!
if you grow plants thant are TALL
you will get one nice bud and a bunch of "POPCORN" buds.... yikes

Try low stress training as well, this will spread the plant out, allowing more light to hit the bud sites and keeps the plant shorter.

Ive recently changed from a 600w HPS to a 250w HPS, just to sort out the heat issue. The heat is now perfect, apart from at night where it drops a little bit more than Id like, but fuck it.
If you get a 250w, Id also get a load of mylar to completely line your walls with aswell. With a 600w in a closet the mylar really doesnt make much difference, but if you want some decent results, invest a tenner in a few metres of mylar.

i have a quistion which light would hps light would be better for a small closet 150 hps or 400 hps i want the 400 but cant the closet catch on fire if i use that and how close can the light be to the wall
closet size 2x4

150 would be better because of the heat the 400 would create. If you can set up some intake and exhaust fans, then go ahead and get the 400 watter.
If I were you, Id get a 250w instead - the heat wont be that different from the 150, and it provides better penetration. Anything under a 400w in that space though, and youll wanna line it with mylar so it reflects all the light. NO TIN FOIL!!!
Oh, and Ive mounted a 600w HPS on its reflector, and then hung the reflector by a couple of hooks to a wooden shelf before and its been fine. For better heat dissipation though, youll wanna get some chain from a DIY store, only costs about £1.50 a metre.

Should I go ahead and get a 400Watt HPS? I have nothing set in stone right now I'm just trying to do all my research before I start buying all my materials. Six plants would be nice, but I'm planning on doing an enclosed closet system thats only 5'x4'x2.5' (approx). Maybe a little bit wider, but I think 2.5 ft is as deep as I can go because of closet restrictions. Would this be enough room to grow six plants? There is only going to be four feet (abo) of growing room because I'm going to have a clone/germ chamber underneath and also the hydro reservoir.
Thanks

You can use a 400 in that space if you have enough ventilation. Have you considered how you're going to exhaust the heat? Will you use an air-cooled hood? You have to calculate these and probably more details into your decision.
You can get better results with fluorescents in smaller spaces. Fuorescents don't need much space above the plants like HID lights. There's less heat problems too. T-8 flourescents are good for growing and are cheap.

Thats another thing I was going to ask, could I accent a 250 Watt HPS with some vertical flourescents along the sides? I plan on ventilating adequately so I shouldnt have any problems there.

Well I leave my window open all day, and my closet doesnt close all the way - its left open about a centimetre, so thats enough ventilation. Plant growth doesnt seem to be stunted in any way either.
You dont really need the long tube florescents (the kind youll see in a fish tank) you just need a few 'energy saver' bulbs, which are the spiral kind. Fit a few E40 fittings in there to screw the bulbs in, and when your plant starts budding, add the CFL's for sidelighting, which will make the buds a little bigger and more compact aswell - oh, and more potent.

Add some Fluros to a 250w HPS and you will be AMAZED.
Also, most people I've seen use 250watters grow their plants to the standard 12 inches or so. They dont seem to have a problem with popcorns buds...specially if you use fluros and some LST training.
But whatever works.... :D

Yeah I was thinking of doing exactly that. This site rocks
Thank you for all your help.

SWIZZY... you will still need a fan or some ventilation... something to move the air... a crack in the door will not cut it...

I thought theyd be ok with the closet open a centimetre or so? Meh, nevermind, theyre all going outside now so Ive got 6 months to save up for a fan. I think thats long enough somehow, even with my broke ass.

I was kind of worried about that krusty, but can anything really be done with just a first name and alias on cannabis.com? And also I've seen many people on here with legal jargon in their signatures. Does that provide any help if something were actually to arise from this site?
Thanks

Fuck it.
My full name is THOMAS MARK SWIERZBINSKI, and mods, I ask you NOT to delete this. I see it as standing up to the law, and although its not the cleverest thing in the world to do, its a small step towards legalisation - and in the world of cannabis, any step is a big step.

More than likely, if the government's stormtroopers wanted to get you, posting your first and/or last name here wouldn't give them any more help in identifying you. But, better safe than sorry.
At any rate, how big of a space do you have for growing? Is it a closet? Also, how much $$ do you have to work with?

I had this plant produce male flowers early in bloom and I sprayed it with Dutch Master reverse, and it must have been right about the time, The hermie Bitch pollenated some of my clones, I decided to move her to a closet by herself and put my hooded 250w diamond hps w/sonT agromax bulb...Well, This is what you can grow in a 5 gallon bucket/bubbler with a 250w hps. We still have 2-3 weeks to finish...this was a MUM that the clones would not root...so I am reaping the rewards of a long finishing time.
Strain is:Sexy Orange Skunk-from Smoker's Beanlabs
It is a cross of Burmese F'in incredible...California orangebud...and Skunk #1
Hope this answer some of your question's. lw :smokin:

You can get a fan at the thrift store in a town near you for cheap....I thought I was getting nothing out of this giraffe...Now look, I am smiling:) :) :) I don't know if reverse works as it should, but It has opened my eyes to foliar feeding...If it can change results this drastically, I will buy reverse and drench'em every time...:D
I have another little monster I reversed and will be posting about both in that reverse thread we all had awhile back.
Of course, they might taste like schitman:pimp:
Very Funny. You don't like my little fan Knowmy?
I have a big one!;)
I would've showed you the fan, but, I have dead tomato plants all over the floor...LOL
Next you will be telling me where to buy plastic, I guess...huh?:p
