what does it mean if the leaves are turning really dark green/brown along tips of the bigger leaves on the top? This has only happened on a few of them but the discoloration disturbs me because i dont want to do anything wrong and if somethings wrong i want to fix it right away. The leaves on the bottom and under the big leaves on top are alright. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

just took pics and battery died, will post em in a half hour or so
over fertilization is feasible i guess, i know its not because the lights are too close though

forgive me for sounding like a noob, i know im a grow noob this is my first grow, but whats flushing

is can infer that its probably something about flushing out the nutrients with distilled water or something? but i dunno what it is exactly.

all your help is much appreciated

take care + thanks

Welcome fellow Noob :),

You're pretty much right with the flushing.

Flushing (turtle's 30second definition) = trying to "cleanse" the plant from nutrients.

If you're doing soil, you pour shitloads of water over the pot... until the run-off water comes our clear (or so I hear).

If you're doing hydro, flushing is giving the plants pure water... nothing more.

yeah MAster.. you have the right idea..

Flushing is basically running a bunch of water through your medium to try and reduce the SALTS/nutrients in the soil..

Are you PH balancing your water..?
If not, you need to look into this.. It is very very simple and will only cost a couple bucks for a life time supplpy of PH testing fluid...

k here are some pics

ok so I am growing in soil, as you can see, and so I just keep dumping in water until the runoff is clear?

so, how long after I flush the soil before I put in ferts again?? And about how long would it take to see it healthy again.

Thanks all and take care

Your plant does not look to bad.. not bad at all..

Now that you have flushed you need to back off and just watch her...

Make sure you do not water again untill the top 3 inches of your soil are dry.. you should stick your finger in the soil to test this out.. The pot should be relativly light as well..

It does not look like your plant needs any FOOD at this time..

Just water with PH 6.8 water for the next watering.. and keep us posted with pictures... Looks like you will have a healthy LADY in NO time...

TIME ?

Thanks for all your help and kind words
Will keep watching and wait for it to dry for next watering like you said.

Just a quick question what signs should I look for to tell me when the plant would be ready to be fed?

Thank you so much, I'm glad there are people out there like you that are willing to help a first time grower help get his feet wet..

well... hopefully you won't have to wait for signs for it to be fed..

Rather you will feed it when you know that it has NOT been OVER fed...

The main sign that it needs to be fed is leaves that are not a perfect green... and slow growth

Everything else is usually a PH issue... without a perfect PH the plant does not have access to the food that is usually in the soil...

This is speaking in generalizations... of course...
There are nutrient defciencies caused by just plain lack of nutrients...

Once the plant really begins to take off you will want to make sure it has plenty of Nitrogen!!!!!

What kind of soil are you using?

I'm using miracle grow potting soil that I found around the house.

Question - when should I start giving my plants nitrogen

right now it's about 9 inches tall and 3 weeks old, sorry I should have posted better pictures that showed it all, I definately will in a couple of days.

Thanks for all your help you've been a great help!

Oh and right now I have them under a 24 hour light cycle, do you think I should give em a couple of weeks of 18/6 before I flower them or go straight to 12/12...I know sexing and flowering is a ways away still...

DON'T GIVE THEM ANY EXTRA NUTES i mean MG soild is not the best from what i've heard aroudn here , it has nutes already added to it and will release slowly, maybe that fluch will help ou t a little

In durt you'll wana refeed them yes but like every 2 weeks and water em when soil is Dry like he mentioned cupple posts up:smokin:

I've become convinced that growing with Miracle Grow is possible (see gK's plants, and Kush ____).

But, the main problem with Miracle Grow, is what MasterBaker is experiencing right now...

He was giving the plants fertilizers, while at the same time the soil was also giving them fertilizers.

When will you be able to give them Nitrogen?
I don't know... maybe Garden knows... But, anything you do, there's a wide margin of "unknown" because the soil (MGrow) is pumping stuff into the plant... and you don't know exactly what it's pumping.

That's my main thing against Miracle Grow.

Master,
Leave her under 20-24 hours of light for another 5-7 days.. Lets see how she reacts to the flushing... your plant needs ZERO nutrients...

like turtle said.. Miracle grow soil can be finiky (it has all sorts of nutrients in the soil)... just let things chill and give us some good wide shots of your plants in a couple days...

stare at her long and hard every day.. just stare at her... she is showing you everything you need to know
