A normal cheao timer from wal-mart or home depot.

It plugs into a socket, and then you plug the plug for the thing you wanna time into the timer.

Any timer you get will have hourly settings some have min. settings and some have day settings , depends how much you want to pay, depending on the light you r using depends on what timmer should be used. I wouldnt pay big bucks for a 1000 light system then go to wallmart and spend $7 on a cheapo timer...lol...peace

I saw one place that sells timers online and they say to never use timers on fluorescent lights. Anyone know if CFL's and Fluorex lights qualify as this?

Make sure you use grounded timers when using the fluoreX - the fuses in these things can go after a year or so - and its a one time fuse ONLY.
