I live in North Carolina and I am going to start some seedlings inside and then at about a week or two old I will be moving them out to a near by field.. My question is, what month would be good to plant these one to two week old plants out.. I am thinking it would be good to do it in late july or early august so that plants will mature just berfore nights become 12/12. What do you guys and gals think?

If you do that..plant them at the begining of July. That way they will mature in veg for a month before flower. But they will still get huge. I noticed that June 1st is a good time for here. The plants grow just as big almost.

Thanks jdog, Does anyone know if there are any negative side effects to starting the seedlings inside? Do the plants go threw any shock and if so, does it effect the plant long term?

depends on the size you want your plant. I started febuaray 1st and mine are 3ft tall now. If you start in july they will finish at about 3 ft tall

The only negative aspect is that when you are ready to take them outdoors you have to harden them off. If you don't they will stress or die. ANd june 1st is a good time to start if you want a mid-sized plant

When plants get used to growing inside in consistent mild conditions they become pussies basically. To harden them off you basically set it outside alittle at a time to its a gradual change from inside to outside. This will prevent alot of stress and wilting.

Your plants are flowering?... If you are talking about preflowers then both male and female preflowers look like little pods at first. You gotta wait until either the pod grows a stem and grows seperate little balls that hang down (male), Or it will have no stem and little tiny white hairs, at first, The size of an eyelash hair (female). Heres a picture of a female preflower. I took this picture about a week ago.

I planted 1 plant on May 1st last year. And one on June 1st. Both ended up being about the same size. Same strain also.
Outdoors you don't need as long of a veg period. They grow way bigger and faster.
