Ok this is kind of crazy, and maybe even a stupid question I know, but please bear with me i just started the growing process, and i have a few healthy plants comming along so far.

but my question is, well i was wondering, since ive read a lot of good thigns being said about worm castings, and i know worms are essential to plant growth in the outdoor world, well i was wondering if maybe it might be benificial in any way to go out and pick up some worms after a rainy day and put them into my 5 gal pots of soil that is home to my beautiful plants?

or is that just impractical/am i just nuts and should i just buy worm castings instead??

just had to ask pleaes dont hate on me

Sorry MB I haven't any help for you. But I do find your thread to be exactly what I was thinking this morning as I walked out my driveway and saw hundreds of worms. I wondered if they will be as helpful in my pots, as they are in my flowerbeds. HHMMMM.....I will watch your post and take the info to good use.

I know that worms eat organic material in the soil, (but i forgot if it has to be living or dead) u dont want them to eat ur roots (unless they only eat very very small material in the soil), u could put a bunch of worms into soil for a few months and then take em out again and use that for some free worm castings.

i think it's the poop that you're interested in not the actual skin they shed, i mean it's the poo that has the nitrogen correct?
