A suggestion or three

I have a few suggestions none realy that wild

1) A adult only chatroom...Baked has NOT attracted the kids away (no offence to kids)

2) an no speak get out clause in the chat room to cut down on lurkers. a good example is there can be 12 pepes in and 3 talking....not a whisper out of the others.

3) A moderator in charge of ethics and morals.......The kind of person who dont stand intolerance should be approached as a strict line has to be taken on racism and other soul destorying forms of intolerence.

Anyway.....there just a few ideas i had

Hope they are taken in the spirit they are suggested in.

If you can't deal with the younger crowd then you may need to smoke a little more and relax. (lol)
The chat does have different rooms already it's just that nobody uses them. Most of the moderators monitor the chat rooms as well. You may not know they are there is no color change to show the others that mods are present but they are; most of the time anyway.

Ethic and moral moderator; that's up to their parents when they raised them not us.

Respect is different.

Even what is ethical to one or moral to one my not be the same as someone else. Yes the chat room can be a mess some time but for the most part is fun and fine. I my self spend a lot of time in there and if there is a person causing problems they get warned and then kicked.

That's my opinion on you suggestions anyway. I don't make the decisions around here anyway.

I have no problem with free speech.....I might not like what some people say but as long as they can back it up with reasoned arguements.

1) the adult chat is becuase the coversation can get pretty heavy in there, I have witnessed it get damn sleazy at times....do you really want a complaint from some parent who thinks hey its moderated theyll b okay just for them to see it and freak.....thats why.........

I have no problem with kids, but sometimes it is nice to seek out adult conersation i was not saying "no youngsters" i was asking for somewhere that adults can go where its all gauranteed to be adults..

I know its moderated and the colors dont change....Please you may not like my suggestions but im no idiot i made these suggestions cos i like this place

3) Ethical moderator........Ill think youll find that you need one....Unless you can give me some reason why the insult faggot/queer/poofter the whole stack that get handed out are not treated with same gravitas as racist words.
The only time i have seen a mod stop homophobic comments is when they said 'somone should kill themsleves'......I really wanna know what boundries you put on free speech myself but still homphobia is a bad as rasism....Ive only seen Homophobia stoped once...

It does not seem my suggestions have bee taken in the spirit they were given in. I love this place, But not blindly

Myself, I think before the parents send in a complaint they should address one to themselves for not monitoring their childs use on the computor. Behavior starts at the home.

I don't care for racial comments or gay bashing myself. In general, I think that the racial aspect has been pretty well addressed in the past in here and I would hope the bashing has also. It's kind of like where do you draw lines regarding free speach. We have the ignore button and I'm a firm believer in ignoring the ignorant.
I hang out quite a bit in politics and I'll tell ya, I've been called nazi, cop, neo-con, supporter of murder,etc.....there was even a post stating to save a tree, wipe your ass with the American flag. THAT really burned me but considering the area it was posted, the beliefs of that person, just gotta kick it back...take a toke...move on.
I've seen people being chased around these boards getting harrassed before and it has been addressed....if it happens to you or you see it....let us know.

Like Z said though, I'm not the boss and I'll follow the directive.

We are members too and not just the police of the boards. When the line is crossed in my mind I have no problem banning the person or even just bitch slapping them in a post to get their attention. Nobody here say's it's ok to gay bash but we do what we can when we can is all I am saying.

Anyway I wasnt trying to start an arguement, as for me needing to bring it up usualy i can look after myself which i presume you know youve seen me in chat i can handle myself, but not everyone has the quick put down or the ability to have a toke and just pass it by.....I can my suggestions were to help, but no not everyone can, i have had to help people stand up to this in real life.......some may get flamed and leave......surely u dont want pepes to leave cos they say something the first time they come in leave cos someone hits them with any intolerance......I have no tollerence for intollerence.

perhaps not moral or ethics moderator...just one souly to deal with policy on what is too far and what aint cos its too fuzzy at present and members have to jump in sometimes to stop abuse.

Anyway I hope thses suggestions are taken as suggestions and considered.

I appreciate what you say about not policing the boards.....thats why i suggested that being one persons maybe more soul responsibility....thats what i was suggesting........as far i can see you dont have enough mods i appreciate its voluntary and youre all working your butts off...One of them is a close freind i know how much work you do. No offence taken at all.....I agree we can use a few more mods to help out. Ron has given us too but I think we need a few more, but thatâ??s just my opinion. I understand his point about having to many too there is a balance that must be found.

Mods should have a temperament for sure but until they have been on the job for a while you never know just what their temperament really is.

Thanks for the point of view you shared I do understand it. I assume you have my email (it's at the end of my sig line) drop me a link if there is a post you feel needs moderation attention.

Thank You Zandor, I'm now safe in the knowledge that they have been taken in the spirit they were suggested. I hope i never have to contact you due to any threads or anything, I have toned down a lot of my own personal opinoins and started only letting people who i can trust in, instead of broadcasting what's going on. Unfortunately this has cut donw on my posting. When i was drink smoke sleep i was posting threads dialy....My post count has slowed down again since i have tken this name. I have to thank you again.
