Do you believe that one day it is going to end?, this isn't really a religious or spiritual question or anything like that its more or a scientific one.
Do you think this planet will be here forever?
How and when do you think the world will end?

It's not man-made, there's a chance that we have a lifetime warranty on that thing.

If physics is right, there's no maybe about it, the sun will engulf the earth before it burns out, but all life will die before the sun gets close enough to engulf us, becuz of the increased heat, plus the moon is moving either closer or away from us, I can't remember, either way this will fuck up the angle that the earth is tilted at, and result in wild climate changes, and huge seasonal differences, irregular tides, which will kill a lot of things, and shit will have to evolve fast, so we will not be able to survive (but again we're talkin millions upon millions of years, and Humans will have turned in to something else by then anyway, if the urbanization of everything continues)
Like HipE sez, who givs a shit, its not gonna end in any of our lifetimes (think more 5 billion years from now, and if you believe humans are still gonna exist then ure deluded), if ure talking about the 'End of the World' in the movie sense of 'Those daaaaaamn commies took our joooooobs!' followed by nuclear holocaust and the extinction of mankind, then maybe, if sum crazy bastard decides to drop a big enough bomb for the hell of it.

Actually, there may be some other catastrophe which may end the world before the sun engulfs it. The Andromeda Galaxy is supposed to collide with our galaxy in another 3 billion years.
But then again, by that time we may have the technology to move our planet to a new galaxy. Who knows?

think of earth as a living being because it is just like you and me just more sophisticated and yes the world will end soon probably next ten years or so because whether you want to "believe" it or not we (western culture) are killing it extremely quickly, and as long as bush is in charge there really is not alot of hope considering hes putting like 15 billion dollars towards building seven new nuclear power plants in the us. anyways cherynobyl been in the news lately and in case you dont know much about that and how shit it caused in the ukraine check it out here... http://www.wagingpeace.org/menu/issues/nuclear-energy-&-waste/start/fact-sheet_ne&w.htm
On April 26, 1986 the No. 4 reactor at the Chernobyl power plant (in the former U.S.S.R., present-day Ukraine) exploded, causing the worst nuclear accident ever.
30 people were killed instantly, including 28 from radiation exposure, and a further 209 on site were treated for acute radiation poisoning.
The World Health Organization found that the fallout from the explosion was incredibly far-reaching. For a time, radiation levels in Scotland, over 1400 miles (about 2300 km) away, were 10,000 times the norm.
Thousands of cancer deaths were a direct result of the accident.
The accident cost the former Soviet Union more than three times the economical benefits accrued from the operation of every other Soviet nuclear power plant operated between 1954 and 1990.
it was recently reported that there are at least 90000 cases of cancer or cancer deaths that have been a direct result of the radiation exposure that was as far reaching as scotland

Yes, the sun will explode (or something like that) and everything will DIE in an INSTANT. But that's quite far away. Some people say the world is going to end 2013, because we are going to run out of resource's.

Hey and you never know if a neighbouring star will explode as a supernova, if that were to happen, the earth and all of the planets/asteroids/sun will be vapourized instantly, and it'll be as though none of this ever happened, you literally wouldn't feel a fucking thing.

The world IS near to an end. Iv heard plenty of people who know what they're talking about SAYING the world WILL end in 2013. Wether you like it or not, it will happen, and if that dos'nt happen then the sun will exsplode and kill EVERYTHING instantly. I can GUARANTEE it.

Yup, a supernova or gamma ray burster happening in a nearby star system could spell really bad news. We wouldn't be vaporized, though. We'd just all die from the extremely high levels of radiation. You would feel it, and it would be painful.

if we dont kill all life forms on eath first.....
the sun is a star. all stars die. whn the sun dies, the earth will 'die' too. we need the sun to support our life systems on earth and keep us in an orbit. if the sun were to go out, we would lose the heat and light that we rely on. if it were to explode, the heat and matter and photons from the explosion would pummel the earth and probably destroy us. if it were just to disappear, we would spin out of orbit: we would probably collide with another planet, or we would gradually freeze to death.
slipknotpsycho
04-22-2006, 12:55 AM
of course it will, if nothing else, the sun IS on a limited source, and once it 'goes out' so will everything on this planet (assuming earth is still here) someday, it will end, maybe be millions of billions of trillions of years away, may be 2 days away, who knows, i do know that someday it will give out... just like everything else in this universe...

If humans left the Earth, they wouldn't be humans anymore, the only reason we have this form is because of the exact conditions of the earth, the strength of its gravitational field, the oxygen content, the climate (and these things change in the lifetime of the earth, and have caused major changes in natural selection). We are earthbound man, simple as.
Did you ever see the experiment where they took bird eggs in to space and they developed and hatched them there? They had like legs on there heads, and bulging eyeballs with wings coming out of there neck, and that was 1st generation offspring. When regular astronauts go up in to space they suffer not only muscle dystrophy, but also there bones begin turn to dust as they are depleted of calcium. Plus, they constantly have the sensation of free fall.
The fact you can only take a few hundred up, will fuck up the genepool, and more importantly, why would you wanna live on in space? have you seen space? that shit would get old really fast. After about 5 minutes of tossing ure drink in to the air and gulping it u'd begin to grow very fucking tired of tying every little thing down, oh yeh and ure in a tiny capsule, with an infinite sea of black to keep ureself entertained, with the occasional dot. Fuck living on, its not all its cracked up to be, especially if its without the earth/mobility, I can empathize with Hunter S Thompson for blowin his head off once he lost the freedom of his joints and shit in old age, I'm with him there
Oh yeh and travelling at the speed of light (186,000 miles per second), it wud take over 13 billion years to travel half the universe, the escape velocity of the earth ignoring, air resistance is 25,000 mph, and we struggle to get to this speed. If u wanna get to the nearest galaxy, it would take about 25,000 years travelling the speed of light, the human race has only been around for about 100,000-150,000 years tops, so it would take roughly, around abouts, 1/4-1/6 of the history of mankind, to get out of this galaxy, then u'd arrive on a planet u'd have to cultivate to be ure own, and u'd have legs growin out of ure nose, and u'd be more of a gelatinous blob, with none of the personality traits, characteristic of bein a human, since u wud av spent ure life in a metal box, in free fall, creating sum seriously different human brains, and logic.
So yeh man I suppose it could happen, but why would you want it too? Cuz all the shit that you enjoy, and find unique about being a human would be lost, if we embarked on an intergalactic mission. Unless we could actually start warping the fabric of space-time, and errrrrr we can barely operate, and calculate the consequences of machines that fuck around with energy transfer like nuclear reactors, and any mechanical device, let alone the very fabric of existance (which ironically, if we ever did, and a catastrophe happened, could actually cause the earth and all stellar bodies to collapse in on themselves, and we would end up destroying the earth by trying to save it, one day I'm gonna make a movie of this scenario starring the likes of the Hoff (ladies dig the Hoff), Adam West, William Shatner and Britney Spears, as a mismatched bunch, from different backgrounds, embark on a mission to find a planet suitable for life, but find something much more important..........themselves, with hilarious results  )
Ye I kno, but slow radiation poisonin doesn't have the same ring to it as.......DUUUUH DUUUUH DUUUUUUUUUUUUH VAPOURISED BY THE SUPERNOVA!!!!! plus the chances of a star exploding in an area close enuff to be destructive to the earths atmosphere is something like one every billion years or so, and even then it would need to be a really big star. But hey I was just tryin to get your attention :D

from what i understand, the sun has enough hydrogen to last atleast hundreds and hundreds of years to co me, if not millions... or atleast that's what i think i remember (it was a long time ago when i learned about this)
Spliffman3000
04-22-2006, 03:16 AM
i was watching this show not long ago, and it showed how the sun will run out of hydrogen, or something, i wasnt really into the show.. and the sun will expand to 3 times it size(i think), and the outer 4 planets (i think) will engulfed by the sun, then all of a sudden, the sun will just shrink into nothing

Right, but I don't think anybody really cares about what's going to happen to the planet billions of years into the future. Reminds me of one of those science jokes that only nerds tell:
An astronomy class is being held, and the teacher says "In 5 billion years the sun will expand to a size so big that all the inner planets will be sucked into it." A student starts panicking and yelling "OH MY GOD!" The teacher asks "Why are you freaking out? This is going to happen 5 billion years from now." So the student says "Ohhhh, I thought you said 5 MILLION years."
And as for those who think the world is going to end in the next decade, sorry guys, but the world has been around for 4.5 billion years. It's survived asteroids, comets, an impact with an object the size of Mars, cosmic radiation, just about everything the universe has been able to throw at it. You're not going to be part of the tiny blip in geological time when it ends.

Yeh isn't the population supposed to double in about 30 years, and 30 years ago there were only 3 billion people. 12 billion people, jesus fuckin christ, you know they're gonna have to bring in a law to control the amount of kids individuals have, I wonder how they're gonna sway the public in to believing thats the right thing to do, otherwise it'll keep rising exponentially, so 24 billion in 60 years, and so on and so on, 24 billion individuals, all believing they should have the 'right' to be the best that they can be, fucking hell, could you imagine what the law/world will be like then. You won't be able to smile at some1 on the street, without first getting written consent, otherwise you could be deemed as a 'disrupter of peace', as they have the right not to feel threatened. Thankfully I should be dead by then, or hopefully I go the route of senility, and spend my days in a fantasy world.

Everything we can behold with our eyes is temporary, the world ends for every man on the planet at different times my friend. Life itself is a decision, that decision, the irreversible sum of decisions.... history itself bears the footprints and verifies the existance of God.. this is why the muslims want to destroy Isreal so bad, because they want to destroy the history of christianity.. i will include this verse because it wouldnt be fair to leave one wisely seeking, an answer, and that is WHO EVER seeks God with all there heart sole mind and strength shall find him, so find him before everything seen suddenly vanishes.. when will things vanish from sight? who knows, but we do know that eveyone will experience it no matter what.. so prepare yourself now

The sun will consume the Earth as a Red Giant, but Mars may become habitable as a result. The habitable zone -- a band that the Earth sits in now -- will be right up Mars' alley.
Another likely case is we will have moved on to other parts of the Milky Way if our technology advancements allow it.

I love the fact that every generation thinks that theirs is the last - the end of the world has been coming for hundreds of years now!!!
Apparently NASA issued a report about 15 years ago that the sun's energy is finite and it will burn out in about 150 million years from now - so yes there will be an end to the world and the universe.
It's hard to explain it from a scientific point of view but there's a book I read once called 'The Theory Of Everything' by Stephen Hawking, and he says that entropy is slowing the universe down and when it eventually stops that will be the end of everything.
From a religious point of view I say that the end of the world has already happened, the world is dead and we're all in hell.
