Do you think that on screen violence can trigger the real thing in life?
I got into a big debate with my dad on this subject.
Personaly I think it doesen't, I think that if you have it in you then you are just waiting for somthing to give you an excuse/reason.
What do you think. :)

Since you said trigger I would say yes. Cause, no. Trigger, yes.

I think on-screen violence can cause the real thing.. that goes for tv shows, movies, video games, anything..
the only problem is, i cant have the best of both worlds.. i know it causes violence, and should be censored.. but the lengths at which people go to stop their kids seeing stuff like that sometimes is too far, and i dont liek that... its a touchy subject
did anyone seen this thing on the news in the uk recently? a video game was realesed, the point of the game being to kill your opponent in the most gruesome way possible.. a kid bought this game , played it non stop, and then killed his best friend with some kind of hamemr or pick axe :S

absolutely not.
I play GTA1/2/3/VC and am getting SA.
Am I going to run around, smash peoples heads in with hammers, samurai swords and go joy riding around the town shooting people up? no.
Same with getaway, manhunt, Full spectrum warrior, Ninja gaiden, Tiberian sun, C&C.
Counter strike, HL.
I play like 95% violent games, other 5% are dangerous in one way or another.
I watch sopranos every week, I watch gangster films and tons of crap like that.
I'm not a violent person at all, I think it doesn't solve anything.
However, I enjoy having the choice in games, you can play GT3 VC, with virtually no violence except certain scenes. Or you can go rampaging like I like to,
Also ghost, you can argue the kid wasn't old enough, IE: he was 17, and his parents bought him the game, the fault was with them.
Thing is, some people can't tell fantasy from real life.
About 5-10 years ago, some kids blinded another kid by throwing paint in their eyes, then tied them down to the railline and he got killed obviously, why? because the kids saw it on "chucky" and "thought he'd get up"
The fault lies with the parents in those cases, and if someone can't tell the difference between reality and fiction, then they really shouldnt be allowed on the streets.

yah man try playin manhunt fer PS2....the objective iz ta kill in the worst way. i own the game an play it all the time but i dunt go round killin ppl er anythin. i think sum ppl get too into gamez an they almost become their life. so if they loose the game they feel like they fucked rite up an get all depressed. i personally dunt understand it but ive seen ppl like this.

yeah, but if he was playing barbies pony adventure, would he have just shrugged his shoulders and got a pink horse called beauty?
No.
Ghost, maybe, maybe the game was a trigger, but he had to be a nutter first.

its called entertainment for a reason. if someone goes out an kills someone with an ice pick its not cause he saw it on TV, its cause something happened in his life that wont heal or he is plain messed in tha head. ill admit id kill a few people if i could get away with it an im sure most of u would too but its not cause of video games, shit, i barely ever play video games. its cause of shit that has happened to me in my past an tha fact real wounds never heal. but im not going too cause basicaly id rather be here an make my own decisions than be locked up again an not have control of my life anymore

Well I'v watched horror films & the like since I was about 8 (I grew up in the hey day of video nasties) & played violent games since they came about and I still hate violence.
I think that people can learn through violent films/programs & games the effect that violence has on other people's life's.

In children it most definately does. But in adults I would say no. You can watch kids get rowdy after seeing a shoot em up movie or a wrestling match. Adults on the other hand are smart enuogh to realise the difference between reality and entertainment. Well most of us anyways.
