When I was growing up. My dad was strict as hell. He was a heavy drinker for many years and then he stopped cold turkey, so his nerves were shot and it made him real grouchy and angry. Do something wrong with my Dad and you knew your were in trouble. Like get caught skipping school or going somewhere you were told not to go or blowin up shit, settin things on fire, wrecking cars, fighting and as the name of the thread says, running away from home. You'd get your ASS whipped with a belt. Hard as fuck. Like 10 times or more. It was structured ass whippings. I hated that shit, but today I am glad that he did it cause I would of been way crazier then I am today. I am not to crazy now. Just normal. Who knows, the psychology of oneself is the hardest to figure out.

I ran away 3 times when I was growing up.

once at 15 and twice at 16

I will only tell 1 runaway story. The first time. I won't tell why I ran away. I will just tell the actual part of doing it. I was at school and some shit was coming down and I was like fuck it and walked out of school and started walking. I had a $1 in my pocket a short sleeve op t shirt and some pants and shoes.
So, I was walking. I was living in Largo, FL then and I started walking towards Tampa and hitched a ride in a garbage truck accross the Howard Franklin bridge into Tampa. I got dropped off in Tampa and some guy picked me up in this van. He was kinda like, a drunk stoner type guy and he had a van. He said he was going to Louisiana and I said cool and off we went North. On the way he picked up another guy who was heading to Washington and said he always just hitchhikes to get to where ever he is going. He was cool. The driver said he was wanted in Louisina but was going back to see his wife. He broke out his Wanted poster for attempted murder. I wasn't scared. Probably bogus anyway.
We passed through Mississippi (didnt put that on my list) and then into Louisiana. Monroe, Louisiana to be exact. The driver went behind some apartments and then jumped out of the van and started bookin it accross some field. I never seen him again. So, it was just me and this other hitchiker in the van. Then suddenly the brther of the dude that jumped out jumped in and started driving and drove back to his house and gave us some food and something to drink and then took both of us back to the freeway.
It was chilly, on a freeway, in louisiana. I was lucky to steal a pocketknife out of the van and I was givin a jacket. I ended up getting a ride first. From this Jesus guy who had all the stickers all over his little truck. I got in and he drove me 3 miles to some deserted ass offramp. I was fucked. So, I started walking, then I start jogging. Then it starts to rein, even harder. It is pounding and I am running. Nobody will pick me up in the rain on a Louisiana Interstate. So I am running, then the rain slows down and stops. I start walking and I see a state trooper pass on the other side. He sees me and I run down an embankment and jump over a barbed wire fence and then cover myself up with pine needles.I see the cops up there with their flashlights, but they cant see me. They leave and I go back up on the freeway and start walking and it starts raining on me and a 18 wheeler stops and picks me up and I tell him to take me to the next exit. I go into the general store. The mayor of this town is in the store playing the Pac man video game. I call my Mom and Dad and told them I ran away. I get sent to a half way home in Shreveport for a week and then I take a bus back to Florida. I was in New Orleans for 8 hours. Some things did change after that. No too much though.I guess thats why I still ran away 2 other times after that.
I am typing a ton tonight.

Yes I ran away when I was 13 after me and my friend were caught doing bad things. I remember waking up to go to school, emptying all my mums cupboards of sweets/crisps and getting on a bus, which chucked me off in the middle of nowhere and I walked all the way to the city centre (about 4 hours) and spent all day there till my uncle came and found me after looking in all the shops.

My whole family were waiting for me when I got back including the police :(

I ran away when I was 8. I took a loaf of bread with me and some peanut butter cause I thought that would last me a while. I ended up feeding the bread to these ducks by a pond. I was home by dinner time.

Another time, I was maybe four, I made it about halfway across the city before the cops picked me up and got me home. I dunno if I was actually trying to run away though/

i never had a home to runaway from
i was in the streets 24/7 as a youngster.
i slept anywhere and everywhere
i dont know how i made it thru
if i would disappear for days at a time
no one would notice.
sometimes it was agood thing and sometimes not
i mostly would disappear during holidays.
it felt werid to be a part of someones elses family moment
i would escape to the outddors.

i ran away from home from when i was 10 till i was 11, about 15 months. i took the BART (san francisco area Subway) and rode it to Oakland, then i walked to berkley, lived on telegraph with some bums for about 2 months, thats when i first started smoking, then i went to San Francisco, and i slept in the PanHandle of the Golden Gate park. slept in the Embarcadaro Square. then i met this guy and his wife at a Resturaunt and they bought me ALOT of food, and they said they where just doing a little Recon, and that they own theyre own Resturaunt about 2 blocks away in Fillmore (worst ghetto of SF). they brought me back to their resturaunt, gave me a shitload of food (again), a Phuton, and a Black and white T.v. and a room on top of the resturant. i could tell they where Total crystal meth tweekers. they gave me a shit load of food, and pot, if i did "chores" in the resturaunt. then one day, the cops came and raided the resturaunt, and found a Meth lab in the room next to me (the couple always told me not to go in there i would be back on the street again, so i didnt) then the cops asked me if i was their kid, and i said "yeah" and then i was instantly sent to Alameda (a few citys over) and got tested for Meth by the Child protective service, and i cleared, luckily they didnt tes for pot, (i think). and then as they where getting Ready to put me into a Group home, they found out who i really was, and the only reason no one had noticed i was "the missing kid" before that, was because i had lost ALOT of weight when i was on the run. so yeah, my parents picked me up, and never fucked with me again. they learned to be very leanient with me, but they felt the need to take me to the Shrink all the time and pump me full of meds, but now im 14 and im off the meds, and living in WORSE conditions than i was living in on top of the resturaunt. my fuckin parents need to wise up and let me emansipate, i could be WAY better off somewhere else.

i had to a few times too...the most memorable one was for woodstock. a couple friends and i had already spent money on tickets (18 bucks for the weekend) and about a month before it started i asked them premission to go with my firends telling them it's nothing more than a campout...just 800 miles away. they said no way...so 4 days before the festival i "acted up" and didn't get my haircut, as told to do and then i get the old, "well if you can't follow the rules of the house you gotto go...". i pulled their bluff and left for 2 weeks of fun and frolic at woodstock and the clean-up afterwards! then i came home and got my hair cut...

Yes, my sis & I ran away when I was 15. The parents went away to work & we packed up my car with our crap & headed to Charleston. We were only gone 2 days before we were found. I had my car taken away for a few months for our fun little trip, looking back now I have to say it was STUPID. Oh well, live & learn.

I ran away at 14 and ended up squatting deep in the forest for a week. I had taken my brothers car and didnt know how to drive in the rain so I ended up nailing a parked car lol. I bounced out for a week but eventually ran outta food and had to go back. I got charged with a hit and run unattended(sp) and ended up with a fatass ticked that i had to work off with community service....

Moral of the story== Running away just prolongs the enevitable(sp)

Alright, so the 2nd time I ran away I planned to be a little more prepared. I started putting together camping and survival stuff and stashed it in a nearby field in a backpack. I had 2 hunting knives, a sleeping bag, first aid kit, water and a whole lot of other stuff I figured I would need for my walk from Florida to California.
One day, it was just bad from my dad's nerves from alcoholism. He would just freak over every little thing. I couldnt turn on the tv, open the fridge or even talk on the telephone. He would get all crazy and slam me into walls and put his hands around my neck and say he was going to fuck me up. There was all kinds of stuff going wrong. My parents got all my cassette tapes and burned them, saying it was the devil (Iron Maiden). At the same time, they were sending cash to Jim and Tammy Baker. I was like fuck it, I am more prepared, I am outta here.
I grabbed my backpack out of the field and start walking down belcher rd to Highway 19 and start walking north. To make a long story short, after walking all day and camping in the woods for a about a week. A police officer stops me and asked for an ID. I buried that about 50 miles ago. They ask for my name and I would not give it to them. They take me to the local Juvenile Detention. Where I finally give them my name and I get sent to a half way house for a couple of months. Ended up walking over 150 miles in a little over a week. Went through counseling with my parents, I ended up getting sent home again. Where not more than a month later, I make my last and final escape.

i ran away when i was about 7....i grabbed a stick, a bandanna, a loaf of bread, and $5...i tied it all into the bandanna, and to the stick, like in the movies (seven, mind you)...then i walked out towards the country road, and hitch-hiked to the next town...where i ate half of my bread, slept for the night, ate the other half, and called mother and father...which sucked, cause father was only home, so i got the belt AND the spoon
