:( I have been trying to get a new crop started and was curious as to what I am doing wrong? I purchased two strains of seeds from THC seeds of Vancouver and have not been able to get any of them to germinate. I tried paper towels, putting in h20 and wait for the sprout, and even just putting in dirt under the ole lamp. NADA -Nothing. The strains are White Crystal and Amsterdam bubble gum. I have a few seeds left and need some help. Any one have any same experiences?

I've never had a problem getting any weed seed to sprout using the paper towel method. I'm not sure what you are doing exactly, but I put a couple of layers over and under the seeds, keep them wet the first day, then moist thereafter. I usually get about 95% sprouted.

Keep them warm, and very moist. It can take up to 10 days.

And they DONT need light. The seedlings only need light when the cotyledons show.

cover them with foil and keep in a warn dark place. They should be cept moist but not soaked. Check them several times a day. Once you have a 2/4" tap root plant it root tip down.

 Thanks to all who have responded. I wanted to get more clear on what I have done thus far. I have taken a clean sterile plate and took two paper towels folded and then put the seeds on top-cover with two more paper towels and wet the towels with distilled h20(room temp not cold). Then cover with another plate. I checked every day and only moisten with room temp distilled h2o when the paper towels began to dry out. After two weeks the seeds never opened and a tap root never came out. I may need some clarification on what the root looks like because I thought after 3-4 days I saw a white gel looking substance on the side but when I picked it up with tweezers and looked under a magnifying glass it was just discoloration.

I then tried the 16oz cups with soil and put the seed in a hole about 5cm made by a pencil- covered loosely with soil. I covered the cups with plastic wrap and again two weeks and nothing.
I then tried it again but this time put it under a 430 HPS lamp- I thought if I could try and recreate the natural put seed in ground ,water and the sun will do the rest I could get it to work. Again nothing.

I have had success with seeds in the past. But the seeds were given to me by friends and from shake.

This is the first time I have used seeds from a seed bank. Thats why I was wondering if anyone else has had success using the same seed bank I used.

Thanks and HAPPY 420 DAY!

lol i have a very handy trick because of my leopard geckos i have HEATMATS lol place the seeds on a thickish bed of wet paper towel then sprinkle seeds evenly and layer a thickish wet paper towel on top keep wet and if possible place ontop of a heatmat.....mine ALLWAYS sprout within 24hours. good luck

What the hell, I clicked "post quick reply" and everything dissapeared. I'll try again, but the short version this time.

Warmth: Not necessary but will help sprout sooner. I've always just set them on the kitchen counter. Heat mats and timers at walmart and hydro stores.

Light: Darkness will better simulate nature, but the two layers of paper towels on top seems to work fine for me.

Sterilization, distillation, PH adjustment: Not necessary for seeds and nearly unnecessary for everything else (except PH).

Bad seeds from seed banks: I suppose it's possible, but I've never heard of it.

good luck.

Hey, I just realized that I have a heat pad that I occasionally use for my bird, came from the pharmacy section of Target. Is it worth while for me to use these on my seeds (lowryders)? Or does it risk frying them?

I measured, and I'm already at about 30 C. Probably not worth it using the heating pad?

Thanks for the info
I am probably just getting anxious for a sprout since I dropped some $$ on a new cab and a hps 430 system. How long should I wait until You know the seed is not going to germinate? I know I have read up to 10 days has anyone ever gone past that before tossing out. I will give another week on the seeds I have germinating now and if that doesn't work I will put an ad in the paper looking for someone to come and help me-LOLOLOL-(I wish). I will keep posted and try to get some pics.
Thanks

So just go ahead and do it? I could just put it above my HPS light reflector, which I'm still running for my flowers.

I am believing you DFG. The last of the seeds are gone and none of them germinated. Thank goodness it was only a small amount of seeds. I did notice THC seeds website is no longer up. I would spread the word.
DFG-where did you get yours(seeds)?

I have been using www.dope-seeds.com he is registered with most breeders and has always been very helpful and polite.
There are alot of others such as drchronic.com seedboutique.com(spelling could be off)
Enjoy

Hello, I was wondering if you guys could help me out...
I`m trying to germinate 4 seeds using the paper towel method...
it`s been 2 days and one of them sprouted... Do I leave it there and wait for the others to sprout too or do I go ahead and plant the one already sprouted?
I wanted to plant all four in the same time, but I dunno...
Any suggestions??

Well I double checked the last batch and they are not doing a thing. On some of the seeds it looks as if there is a mold or some white substance. When I picked the seed up with tweezers and looked under a magnifying glass it looked as if it was white sludge on the seams. Oh well do not use THC seeds out of Vancouver if they are even still around. Peace to all :)

Pulse will the tap root come out like a little finger or will it just stay on the side? I will let them ride as is for a couple of days longer to see.

the root will start to come out of the seed wait till it like 1/2 cm to 1 cm then plant in soil/peat or what ever your using. some seeds just have slow germ rate and can take up to 2 weeks to germ.

These have been in the towels for 10 days and this is how they look. This is the last of my seeds. I have had a major let down on this. I will keep them in the towels and see. Also please note I have included pics to show everything.

Sorry man, I don't know what to tell you. That one close up is just blurry right? If it's mold, that's very bad. They will not sprout if they get moldy from too much water / not enough ventalation. The other photos don't look like that's the problem though.

Gotta be bad seeds. I'd give it another week just to make sure they are not freaks or something, but 10 days should be plenty.

Thats what I am thinking it is bad seeds. It is a bummer because I just wanted to be able to say I grew my own. Well I will have to find another source for seed. Like I stated earlier this is the first time I purchased from a seed bank and that banks website now no longer exist. It was recondmended to me to go to Dopeseed.com -have you ever used them? Take care.

Insulate them more they don't look very comfortable, try using cotton wool or more layers of paper towel.
