This year only for those who participate in extracurricular activites or athletics, next year even those who drive to school. I do all three of these things, so I'm not so sure what I'm going to do.

I heard this comment on the radio by a marijuana activist:
Think of the message drug testing sends to people. It takes 30-90 days for marijuana to naturally leave your system and not show up on a drug test. yet, it takes as little as 24 hours for crack, cocaine and alcohol to leave your system. What this means, in effect, is that you shouldn't smoke a joint on the weekends. Instead, you should smoke some crack and drink booze, because that stuff won't even show up on that drug test you have to take on Monday.
Man, what a crazy world we live in.

Well in that PDF thing it says you and your parents had to sign, agreeing to being drug tested. Next year when they make you sign, you should protest signing it. (not actual protest just dont sign..im kinda stoned..) But i do know some schools wont let you attend class until you sign stuff like that, so you may have no choice

yeah, but if you refused to take it, and they told your parents (which is VERY likely, in my opinion) then what are you gonna say to them? you just "didn't feel comfortable pissing in a cup"? haha. like that'll work...

When I was 16 I talked my parents into letting me withdraw from school and go into homeschooling or distance education or homebound education, whatever you want to call it.
It took me a whole year to convince them. I kept complaining about school and saying that because of the school environment and all that was going on there, I wasnt able to focus on my work.
I pulled up as much info on this topic as I could off the internet and kept showing them and telling them that I would do much better, get better grades, learn more and graduate faster if they let me do it this way.
In all honesty those reasons WERE NOT the reasosns I wanted to do this, but it helped reinforce my point and makes it more appealing to the parents... You could even tell them you want to get away from the bad influences like kids who use drugs (lol). Say "They're testing kids here because they all get High and I dont want to be around that"... of course I would have looked stupid saying that because they knew I was experimenting with drugs.
Anyways, after bombarding them with information and complaints (and failing 9th grade) they finally gave in.
Homeschooling is usually coordinated by your parents or a hired in-house teacher. That sucks.
Correspondance/Distance education is coordinated by a school. Thats cool.
They mail you workbooks & textbooks. You complete the work and mail it back to them. A teacher grades it and mails it back to you. A record of your grades is kept on file at the school and when you complete all the work, they mail you a "Highschool Diploma" not a "G.E.D."
The main reasons I recommend it:
You work at your own pace. Set your own hours. Choose what work you will do and when you'll do it.
ALL TESTS ARE OPEN BOOK! You can read each question and then look up the answer in the book.
You earn an actual Highschool Diploma, not a G.E.D.
There's no one to rush you or hold you back.
You can graduate faster than you can in school.
You can transfer credits you've already earned in highschool!
You can do the work while sitting inside your hydroponic marijuana growroom smoking sinsemilla through a vaporizer!
I went through a company called Education Direct. They have changed the name of their school several times but www.educationdirect.com (http://www.educationdirect.com) and www.pennfoster.edu (http://www.pennfoster.edu) still goes to their website.
This method does cost money (between $200 - $900 depending on if you need the whole program or not) but if your in private school this would be much cheaper than your tuition is. If your in public school this probably seems expensive but they have payment plans and stuff like that. It's well fucking worth it my friends...
Here's some links if you want to check it out.

My school does this (also Houston area). If you refuse to take the test, you are considered to have failed the test. I'm pretty sure Texas schools are pushing this program is becuase they're actually recieving money from the state for doing so (not 100% sure on that though). It's not really a big deal here as they're not testing many students, and it's not really catching anyone. I think only 3-4 people have tested positive for anything all year. At our school, the only thing that even happens to you is being suspended from parking/practice of whatever sport you're in for something like 15 days. I believe it's a total invasion of privacy to drug test students since we're required by law to attend school. The arguemnt is that you're choosing to participate in sports/parking on campus...but it's still a weak arguement against our right to privacy outside of school. The sad part is that invading students privacy is being funding by tax dollars that should be going towards something productive education wise.
