I'm using the rye & compost method; the kits in the plastic box kits -- you know. Anywho, I set that shit up with a heating pad and did everything I was supposed too and stuffed it under my bed. A day or two later I checked on it and found that their where aunts trying to get into the rye. The fucking ate straight through the plastic. I dont even know where they came from, I didnt think we had aunt in the house. Anyhow, I cleaned everything out, dumped the old perlite/water and added more, then set the box back up the way it was before .... 1' perlite w/ water at the bottom of the box, set in a baking pan (to separate the wet perlite and rye/compost), set the rey/compost and thermometer in the pan slapped the top back on and moved the mushrooms kit to a different spot in my room.

No problems. .... Until now (I Think) ....

The rye is supposed to turn white with [I don't know the name (starts with a p)] Well its doing so. Its very moist and humidity is around 90 to 100 at times, which they say is good. But the side that the damn ants chewed through the plastic, instead of turning a bright pretty white like the opposite site (the site they didn't chew through) its white around the edges and kinda dirty yellow in the middle.

QUESTION:
Has my rye been contaminated?
The Part I believe to be contaminated is on the bottom with the holes from the ants. I was just thinking that due to the humidity the wet that drips out of the bag could be running through/by the dirty yellow portion making it that color.

You let me know though, this my first kit. Thanks,
