Ok, I was searching google for some bittorrent files, and i clicked on the wrong site, it it put a SHITLOAD of trojans and various other virus\spyware. Internet Explorer is fucked (Im on firefox), a few of the keys on my keyboard are disabled, my background is fucked, pretty much the whole computer. I used both Ad-aware se and trend micros virus and spyware checks, and while they detected them and said they removed them... they havent. I really dont want to reformat my computer as it will take me forever to get shit back on it. Ive tried system restore and it fails every time... just wondering if anyone knows and good free virus check site that might possibly take care of this very serious problem?

lol if u can still use ur bit torrent u should download mccafee virus scan or something. if you install aol (even with free trials) you can get mcafee for free. norton sucks imo because norton antivirus is always wanting to update (every 30 fucking min) and it has NEVER detected the virus that is always causing the problems for me. even trend micros online free scan has done a better job in the past.
and we know ur bullshitting u got the virus' while downloading porn didnt 'cha?

probably gonna have to reformatt your hard drive, does it hve this built in feature? (if it does, you'll know abou tit) otherwise you'll need to contact the people who made your computer (hp, compaq, sony, and so on) and ask them for the resintall disk... once you have them, you will lose everything, it will be like your co mputer is brand fucking new, just as you bought it, so save anything you need to keep...

mcaffee is shit, most of those top dollar programs you hear about are usually shit, mcaffee is the best between norton and mcafee, but mcafee sucks... and to tell you the truth, most all anti-viruses suck... unless your anti-virus programs are updated everyday, ther'es no way it could be any good, as i've read in compute rmagazines, it's estimated something like 10-50 (i can't remember the number, just was somewhere in there) every day or week (can't remember which either)

yeah in a way i like reformating, because if you're like me then you probably have a computer to yourself or at least a user name to yourself (WinXP) and if you're cool, like me, then you trick out your shit, have cursor XP, Windowblinds and DREMPELS!!!! or at least a tight ass custom background. and all the files and games and shit that we download and arrange on our computers are in our memories. but when you reformat you erase everything and start fresh so if you fucked up and got alot of virus/trojans, then its nice to have a fully working computer again. Also if you do catch it fast enough then system restore is an amazing way to restore bad setting changes and damage to the operating system.
well, good luck with your virus problem, go to http://www.mininova.org and get SOME kind of virus scan prog.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, here's the update. Now Mozilla Firefox won't work (I'm on netscape) and everything is pretty fucked up. Downloaded spybot search and destroy, going to see if that helps, if not i will have to reformat (not too much of a deal, have a second hard drive with a locked partition specifically for that reason) just have a shitload of stuff on here i don't want to use. Burning a few cd's to back up a little bit of it, but it's looking like a good ol' reformat... lol....

here's what you do:
try to partition your drive into 3 seperate partitions.
shut down everything and power down your computer.
unplug all connections (pwr cable, keyboard, monitor, usb's, etc).
physically pick up the tower...
throw it out the nearest open window...
... and go buy a mac.
not to make light of your prob., and i know macs will eventually start having to deal w/ these issues (4-6 yrs), but for now i'm just so happy that the only trojans i have to deal w/ are on my willy.

These are all good suggestions, but you'll need a lot more than the odd program mentioned here or there. So, before you format, here's some advice -(taken from an anti-malware document I created, which I can send to anybody who wants the whole thing, my e-mail's in my sig).
Before running anything, go into START>right click MY COMPUTER>PROPERTIES>SYSTEM RESTORE tab>disable system restore. otherwise system restore can save backups of viruses which can just reinstall themselves after being removed upon next start-up.
go into Internet explorer (if you can, doesn't matter if it's web-connected) and click Tools> Internet Options > Delete Cookies and Delete Files (and click delete all offline content)
Now go into Control Panel> Ad/Remove Programs, and look for "180 search solutions", "180 solutions", or anything around that name and remove it.
Run this:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm (online malware scanner)
Then after downloading and updating the following programs (or which ever ones you can get) - restart your system and press F8 every couple seconds until a black screen with options comes up. then select "safe mode" and run the anti-virus programs.
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ this is an essential, excellent for getting spyware especially (may miss some of the more tricky trojans though, but still totally worth it).
http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/download/
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
www.free-av.com (turn off automatic protection upon installation so as to avoid program conflicts)
these last two are good for strictly virus-hunting, won't do much (if anything) for spyware and adware.
Then after running these, restart your system and download Hijack This at
http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10379544.html?tag=lst-0-1
then do a scan, copy the log, and post it here and I'll tell you what to remove.
btw, tell me if your hijacked desktop has "www.smart-security. info" or "slimshield", both are the same piece of extremely nasty hijackers, hence why I broke the smart-security link. DON'T EVER go to that site!

download and run hijack this, save a log and post it,I will inform you of what to do with the results...
I use AVG Free and it is very good, but you need it running to catch the virus,so install it when your fixed up...
I never had to reformat after a virus attack and you should not have to either...
Reinstalling is a biatch!!!

thanks for the help guys. I really wish I had read Mrdevious's post before I reformatted my computer. I coincidentally did disable system restore and did run a few anti-virus programs in safe mode. While it helped a bit, my computer was still pretty fucedk. My entire internet stopped working right after I made that post last night, so I just said fuck it and reformatted. Always have used bit comet for bittorrent downloads, and I usually stick to 3 torrent sites, couldn't find what i was looking for and tryed searching on google, that was a mistake lol. But anyway, thanks for all your help guys, ended up reformatting anyway, just finished installing and updating all of my drivers.

Well, hmm... Something happened to my screen a week or two ago. I turned it off, and when I turned it back on, the screen was too big for my monitor, and I can't resize it, it won't let me. Also, a game I am trying to install, Diablo 2, whenever I install it, and try to open it, it won't come up, but it does in the CTR+ALT+DEL menu. Also, There is an application you have to run to see if your video card is good enough called Video Test. It won't come up, whenever I click on it an error messege comes up. what the fuck :(

OK,,,although you have a bunch of junk loaded,,, I see nothing that could be causing the screen resolution prob...

Run Spybot... (http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html)
did the screen resolution thing happen after playing a game???

nope, just after I got on my computer while it was hibernating.
from that Hijackthis log, what stuff can I remove?
The PANDA(something like that) found 58 spyware, all cookies in mozilla ( mozilla just stopped working completely a while ago for no obvious reason, i would click on it but the homepage/any website i entered in the URL wouldnt load at all...) and I deleted them all.
I will run Spybot now and AVG is actualyl already scanning, haha

You only need AVG and I would remove the rest,I catch all my virus's with AVG resident shield, just make sure AVG is set to check for updated daily...
Do you have System restore on??? You might want to restore to a point before the screen prob...
AVG FREE,Spybot, and Adaware is all that is needed for a powerful defense...

I use the buttons on my monitor to try and change H. Size, but it won;t move at all, regardless if it's on 0, or on 100, the screen never resizes.

And dude, that doesn't work, if your talking about properties settings and under screen resolution i pick 1280x1024 (im using this now, btw) and when I change it to 1280x960, it makes it a little better, but no matter how much i tweak the settings with my monitor buttons, I can't see the full screen, but I can see better now.

it has adapter, and using 1040 x 768 makes the screen so bad, like it makes everything very large

You can safely remove all of the spybot stuff... select them then hit the "fix problems" button on top...

They just mean that the registry was changed since the last scan... did you disable the Windows Firewall,if so that is all it is,but if you did not then maybe a virus could of changed it,but I don't think so...

AVG is absolute and pure SHIT, as in feces. I got it and it never detected any virus' even when trend micro said i had like 288 trojans and 400+ virus/spyware progs running on the comp. and avg didnt notice a damn thing. THen i got a virus after i reformatted which would simply close AVG every time i tried to do a scan
also AVG leaves its shell extensions integrated even after you uninstall which is REALLY annoying because it associates every .dat file with avg and you still see the right click menu options for AVG after u unstall as well.
so bottom line, dont use AVG unless u wanna waste space on ur hard drive.
go to http://www.trendmicro.com and follow links for the free online scan, that should fix 99% of probs.
