Me and my girlfriend have stopped using condoms when we have sex. She is on the pill and has been for about a year. Anyone know how safe these things really are? I dont want any accidents...

well, if you pull out before you 'ejaculate' that's about as safe as you're going to get, i mean without using a condom and all, so all you can do is, just pull and pray...

Yup, I think thats the figure. 98%. Ask a pharmacist or Doctor.
So, ITS POSSIBLE, but not likely.
Remember, the pill doesn't stop STD's.

If taken correctly according the instructions, at the same time everyday.. the pill is over 99% effective. If there are absolutely no worries about STDs, then you will be just fine having sex without a condom and even ejaculating in her, that is IF she is perfect with taking those pills.

I've been on the pill for about 4 years.. I've never had any preg. scares. I'm far from perfect from taking these things too.. I'll miss a day here and there. And at the time of my relationship, my boyfriend and I would have sex and he would ejaculate in me half the time. Still, no worries at all. So the pill is extremely effective in preventing pregnancy.. :)

screw "THE PILL"
get teh depo-shot. 3 months without fiddly pills at 9:00am every day, and you can have your guy do whatever he wants in you.

HUZZZAH!

then again, I'm not "afraid of needles"
and personally I think being afraid of having a tiny needle stuck in you hip for less than 15 seconds is a little lame.
(IMO)

..its literally no more than fifteen seconds, and keeps you safe for 90 fricken days.

what a generous exchange..

not to mention, YOU DONT GET A PERIOID!

woo, so guys, I'd say convince your girls to go on the depo-shot.
you can get it for free at planned parenthood, if you bring in a pay stub every time you go in.

^^ The thing that scares a lot of girls away from the shot is the weight gain that is normally associated with it. Most girls I know who were/are on the shot gained at least 10 pounds. Granted, that can be reduced by working out and everything, but what girl wants to take something that will make her gain weight like that? But it is an awesome way of birth control.. not having to worry about pills and stuff.

I take the pill just because that is what my gyno recommended to me.. I was 18 at the time. I knew about the shot, but yes.. I'm lame and I'm wary of needles. lol. :) I haven't had a problem with the pill, and it's not a big deal getting used to taking it everyday. After the first couple weeks it just becomes routine, like brushing your teeth.

I dont know, I havent met anyone that uses those pills but I would rather use a condom...do you even know if she has an STD...I mean I'm just saying that because not only if used properly does condoms prevent pregnancy but also it prevents you from catching an STD, not saying that she has one dude i'm just...saying lol.

Do not take the pill!!!!!!! Ever. This is very dangerous for young women. They're finding the pill is associated with cancer, etc.

This is the natural way to prevent pregnancy I tell women. This has worked for me for many years. Day 1 of your period up to day 5 you are safe. He can ejaculate inside you. Day 6 through day 15 you will ovulate and sperm can stay alive for several days dangerous days to avoid pregnancy. Only have sex during these days with a condom. Or he withdraws before he comes. You will not get pregnant if you follow these rules. After day 15 you cannot get pregnant till you start your period again.

So you heard somewhere that the pill gives you cancer ey?
Guess what else is rumored to give you cancer, mental diseases, reduced sex drive, loss of motivation etc.........

Im not saying your wrong, but cite your sources and make sure you research your facts.

mechanimal, read the newspaper. It's full of reports of the dangers of hormones.

The only thing you have is my word. I have been using this method of birth control for 15 years. Every woman alive needs to know this.

After ovulation a woman cannot get pregnant. Ovulation will occur 9-12 days in the cycle. So a woman can have intercourse and not worry after this day. Ovulation occurs when the mucus changes from cloudy to clear and becomes stringy. It looks like egg whites. The clear mucus will stretch to 1 inch or longer before it breaks. After this day passes you can safely have intercourse till the next cycle.

Ive been on the pill for 6 years now and had no problems. Tried the depo jag once but the side effects were so bad I came off it right away - greasy hair, terrible moods (crying/angry all the time) weight gain, bad skin.......

I do forget to take my pill a lot though and sometimes I probably take 2 on the same day, the weed has fucked up my memory......:(

All girls are different... Girls can ovulate at different times each month. And it can change slightly from month to month. There are no 'exact' or 'set' days when it's safe to have sex with or without protection. Yes, ovulation follows a general schedule, but this cannot be used as the safest way. It's never safe to have sex without some form of contraception, whether it's the pill, shot, or a condom at ANY time of the month.

The rhythm method, as you're describing, heavily relies on whether a woman has a regular period every month. Many women do not. I've seen from different info that it's only 87-92% effective. Compare that with over 99% for the pill. But if you're doing this method, you have to be perfect with checking physiological signs and changes to the body. It's a big effort, but it can be done with careful planning. :)

I've never had a problem. Women are alot smarter than you think. Can you count up to 15? This does not matter if the woman is regular or not. I am not regular. Never have been.

Sure you may not have any problems right now. But what about 25 years from now. Or are you planning on dying soon. Women who take the pill for long periods of time can become infertile. It takes years before they can become pregnant again. It causes weight gain and fucks with your thyroid. If the pill is your choice, so be it.

ever heard of pre-cum? Pulling out before the guy comes is not always effective and you can get pregnant from that.

Yeah, I know there are sperm in preejactulation. Not enough though.

I dont agree wiht the "he pulls out" shit.
even if you get jsut s teeny bit on your vaginal opening you cna STILL get pregnant. and pre-ejaculate fluid also contains trace amounts of sperm that CAN cause women to become pregnant.

either use a condom, or BC, or both.
..or just have ONE partner. i dont get whats with this "I've got five bitches" thing. its lame.
My finacee and I ahve been together 2 years, and I have NEVER made him wear a condom. he lost his virginity to me, so obviously I had nothing to worry about dealing with STDS. I get tested at the gyno once a year.

as for the weight gain due to the shot. its a MYTH. I've not gianed wieght since on it. I'm not ohnestly THAT active. yes I ride horses, but my body has been adjusted to that for over 10 years.
..if you can get off your ass and WALK for 30 minutes daily 3 times a week, I dont see what the problem is.

there, 2 things I hate the absoloute most, wait no..three.

-People with boyfriends who "pull out" and think its "safe"
-LAZYNESS
-people who think its OK to have multiple partners, or have a partner and NOT have them tested before sex.

..call me a prude, or whatever the hell you want. but responsiblity is a key factor in having sex. yea, it feels GREAT, but its not really suppose to happen until your an ADULT. I see all these teenagers running around advertising themselves (especially the females) hell, american eagle might as well sell shirts that say "Cum Dumpster" on them.

..seriously.

but yea, the shot is the way to go if your not a fatass already.

not true:
your more likely to get pregnant right after you stop taking the pill.
but that was just advice from my gyno.

Yeah, I know there are sperm in preejactulation. Not enough though.

also not true:
I got pregnant from pre-cum.

Every one is different so maybe the rythm method works for you. But there is a reason they dont teach the rythm method in high school health class any more.

How long is "long"? My wife was on the pill for 8 years before we decided to have a baby. She stopped taking the pill, we waited 6 months(I used condoms) to make sure everything was cool, and then she got pregnant the first month we tried. Maybe I just have super sperm or something:p
