whats the difference?

i need to know what is the difference between a 1000watt mh bulb and a 1000watt hps bulb thanks

mh for veg and hps for flower. 1000W Metal Halide lamps come in 3000K , 4000, 4200 , 5000 , and 6500K i think. hps is about 2100k and has about 145,000lumens while i believe the halide has slightly less lumens. used together you could grow some kick ass bud!

cool i have both ligtha in 1000watt thanks buddy now i know wich one to use for veg i was using the hps bad idea but it work lol but now i awith to the mh set up is better now for the veg stage

The Difference is in the Colour Spectrum. MH runs more Blue-light then the HPS. It has been suggested (but not proven) that MH is better for VEGGING then the HPS. I believe this is true. The HPS has less blue light and more red. It has been suggested that this is better for blooming. I also believe this is true.
Pick up some grow books like the ones by Ed Rosenthal and Jorge Cervantes and they will shed some light on the subject.

Mr guy is right in everything he said.

You'll see the differnce doing it that way round.

MH will flower, but it doesnt quite hit the spot like the HPS.

The red spectrum really makes a difernce in size of buds and THC production.

if you have both the best thing to do is use both at once for flowering. that would be the closest to sunlight that you could create indoors
