There is something wrong with my plant and I'm not sure what it is.

This is my first time growing outdoors so I'm not familiar with it at all. Check out my post in the outdoor growing for the full low down but here are some pics of my plant.

Not only is the top of the plant leaning badly, but the bottom leaves are looking terrible. The top starting leaning yesterday but I couldn't get up any pics or posts until now.

Need your help and advice BADLY!!!!

Thank you in advance!!!

Have you over watered her?

Steak her with a tomato steak... or several steaks...

At first I thought she may need nutrients.. that she may be hungry...

but I see the tips are burnt from maybe to much feeding...

My first two guesses are
1. Over watered
2. Ph is off.. PH should be 6.8

: )
Is the stem red?

nice strawberries

thats a shame, looks very good, otherwise .... a guess: possibly watering too close to the stem has softened the plants foundation, ... any sign of stem rot, or a softness to it at soil level ? :smokin:

I am purchasing a soil PH tester tonight. I think that might be one reason. I don't water very often, just to keep the soil from getting too dry.

I am actually about to run out the door in a few minutes so I don't have much time but when I do later tonight I will post more in detail.

Thanks!

BTW, yea, strawberries should be nice in a few weeks lol

I'm curious??? What nutes recipe are you using.

That is a possibility. However, there is no sign of stem rot or softness to it at soil level.

That's the thing. I wasn't sure if a 15-30-15 fert was good or not. I used that on my hydro setup but didn't know if I should use the same for outdoor.

Right now I just use miracle grow.
I'm using the recommended 1 tablespoon per gallon of water and water just enough to moisten the soil up or when it looks like it needs it. Not sure how much exactly that equates to in mL or whatever.

Any recommendations?

Does it matter what brand of fertilizer I use?

Should I use it every time I water for the entire cultivation?

Does it matter if it's liquid or powder form?

What soil are you using....?

If you are using MG soil + MG nutes.... at the same time.. early in a plants life....

you may be headed for trouble....

If you water with the proper PH water.. 6.8... your soil should be fine..

nothing wrong with Miracle-Gro, despite some posts in here ,,, the bad boy is Miracle-Gro Potting Soil, avoid that stuff, because its time-release pellets arent controllable by you ... 15/30/15 is fine, I use it too .. powder is fine, just mix it up well, I apply it 'foliar-method' once a week, just spray it on the leaves, underside most important ... do NOT apply it in the sun, the water drops can magnify the sun's rays, and burn the leaves, I do it at 'sundown', gives them all night to feed and dry before 'sun' comes up ... I am switching over to organic Earth Juice nutes this grow, for the first time, but I used nothing but Miracle-Gro on pot plants for 25 years, and my plants always impressed my friends ... :smokin:

Thanks for the advice.

I just realized yesterday that the standard miracle grow IS the 15-30-15. What a tard, but nobody at the stores I'd been going to knew that either. I'd go to home depot or local nurseries and they were like, "we don't have any". Anyway, now I know.

As far as soil goes, I'm just using regular soil, not MGs soil.

I bought a soil PH and moisture tester yesterday and it indicated it is way too wet and the PH is around 6.2. So it's a little acidic and a little too overwatered.

I'm going to let it dry up a bit, then add some PH UP to the water next time I water her. Will that stuff be ok to use? Obviously not directly on the plant but in the soil?

Also, image reaper, you stated you spray the underside of the leaves, is that only how you water or on top of watering the soil too? The roots need some lovin too don't they?

Well that 6.2PH was what it said yesterday. I just went out side right now and it now reads almost 8!!

Why is it jumping around so much?

What should I use to stabilize it?

I water into the soil, but feed with foliar method, ... (very hard to over-fertilize with foliar-feed, according to Ed Rosenthal), the plants draw it in better if sprayed from underneath to bottom leaf surfaces ... some may consider it a hassle, but it gives me extra time with my plants, to look pests, or problems, male pre-flowers, etc ... (I've never had pests, or males, or serious problems, so I guess it works) besides, I talk to them while I do that, free CO2 for them, as much as I talk ... :D ...

How often and how much do you water yours?

How often do you spray them with nutes using the foliar method?

from 1 of your pic's it look's like you just gave her water , if so looks like your just getting the middle wet ,maybe not enough water, try flushing her ,if it's over nut's this will help,if it's under watered this will help to ,check my avatar grew an lst in the same pot take's a lot of water
