Ok i have a desk lamp and it says 60W max light bulb. Ok so heres my question i have a 120W plant grow light and im thinking of puting it there on my desk lamp that i listed above. is it ok will it cause a fire if i leave it over night while im asleep? Or will the bulb just blow up and thats it? if anyone knows plez reply to this thread thanks a lot.:confused: :mad:

Also when i put my fan on and it hits it (the lamp) it cools the lamp down. Will it still?

Bad idea unfortunately. Watts=amps x voltage
They rate the fixture for watts because thats what the bulb rating is (something we can understand when selecting a bulb). Really it's stating that the wiring and fixture can handle "x" amount of amps. Never overload a fixture beyond it's rating...asking for BIG trouble.

You could put a 25 or 30 watt cfl (compact fluorescent) safely in the desk lamp, get as much light, less heat so you can put it very close to the plant, and actually be able to start a healthy seedling, though you'll need more to go the whole route.
