In the USA I'm sure it varries from company to company, but 21 would be my guess for an industry standard.

no age reqirement, but first you need to have a driver's licence. then go to a cab company and ask them to hire you. They will give you a letter of intent take that to the police station and the police will issue you a hackny licence. after you get that you can start working that day.

A note on cab driving:
I drove a taxi for almost 2 years, it's not a good job. You get paid cash evry day insted of a check, No benifits, usualy you have to pay for your gas, and you run a very high risk of being robbed. No matter what city your in there are people who think that it's ok to rob taxi drivers. your young get your ass to a mcdonalds and just work there, you still have plenty of time to find a decant job.

it's 25 in most cities due to insurance regulations, but some smaller cities and college towns do have a 21 year old and younger cut-off. check tomorrow's newspaper...those jobs are usually listed on sunday and most likely will state minimum requirements in the ad...in fact sunday's paper is the one to check for almost any job and the day for placing ads for "situations wanted", which might be something for you to look into for finding that special job you're seeking...

if you're looking for an independent job and good pay for working a few days, get with your local flower shops. mother's day is coming up and they always need extra drivers at that time. i ran an independent floral delivery service in the late 70's-early 80's in grand rapids and always made a killing on mother's day driving for 5 shops with 4 friends helping. we charged 3.50/delivery then but now one can easily get 5 bucks/item for each stop. it takes a van, truck w/camper shell or large car along with a good map and knowledge of the area but is quick and easy money...couple hundred/day easy...
