How is tyson underrated? He's washed up, poor, and just plain nuts. And again, Ali and overrated don't belong in the same sentence. Love him or not, his charisma alone did wonders for the sport, plus his style was so smooth.

oh god you are a genius for making this thread!!!!! i am a boxing superfan!
first of all, todays best boxer is DEFINATELY not Felix Trinidad. Did you forget when Winky Wright completely owned him? it was a complete shutout.
Winky Wright or Floyd Mayweather are the best boxers of today. (with Wright having a slight edge IMO)
Best present heavyweight is DEFINATELY not Ray Mercer. His time is gone....
Wladimir Klitschko or Hasim Rachman are definately the best current heavyweights.
Most underrated boxer- Mike Tyson??????????????????? this is in no way true!
surely, there was a time along time ago when he was amazing, but now, he just plan blows. Have you not seen his last few fights!?!??!?! he has been completely dominated, knocked out by the shittiest no name fighters Don King could get. If anything, right now he is OVERrated.
Most overrated boxer- Muhammad Ali?????? NO WAY!
Muhammad Ali was champion when the boxing competition was at its finest. Even with people like Joe Frazier, George Foreman, and many others were at their prime, Ali was champ.
Overall Best Boxer-- Sonny Liston?
yea, i guess i can see where you got that.
its hard to name one boxer as the best ever.
Just my opinions

I'm a big boxing fan...
I'm kind of disappointed with the boxing scene right now. I'm really really getting tired of boxers stepping in the ring not ready to fight... showing up just to get a paycheck.
I think there should be some kind of bonus system. Pay the boxers less but have like a $1-5 million bonus for a knockout. I bet they will show up to fight then.

definately. Right now its all about the money. Everyone knows who the best are, but the best dont fight the best, because they are scared of losing. Thats because when one loses, the big money goes away. The best dont wanna risk losing and losing their big paydays
(with the exception of people like erik morales, manny pacquiao, and marco antonio barrara)

Haha, for god's sake, Tyson fights strictly so he can pay off the three sets of families that he owes millions of dollars to. So he just shows up for the money, and always gets sent on his fucking ass. I liked the old, pre-biting days when Tyson was young, lean, and fucking mean. He was just the right amount of crazy, and he was hungry for that title, so he was even more ruthless.

Well Im just getting into boxing now...Ali wasnt really overated...He beat Foreman when the ods were definatle against him, what a fight. He had to go throught all that stuff when he refused to go to war, and this is what really dragged him down...
and for all time best..what about Max Baer...he was there when it really got popular in the 30's and killed 2 men. Contrary to his portayal in "Cinderella Man" though... the deaths really hurt him and he donated alot of his winnings afterwards to their families and changed the way he fought.

like i said these are my opinions and in my opinion all muhhamed ali did was kick up shit, In mike tysons prime when he won 13 straight fights by first round knockout put that mean motherfucker in the ring with ali he would have tore him up... but you all are probley right but those are my favorite boxers and you have to go with your favorites....Boxing is fading away but i love it.

yea, Khan is definately going to have at least one belt in a year or two.
but-- lets get to whats important right now
MAYWEATHER VS JUDAH
im very excited for this....and my prediction is that Mayweather will win by a 10th round KO
judah is very impressive, but mayweather is just plain better. He's sharper, has more power, and is smarter. Judah will be able to stay with mayweather for i think a long time, but somewhere around round 10 i think mayweathers superior skills will come through and he'll get the KO

For my money Joe Calzaghe has it all , 40 unbeaten is a helluva record.
The last fight I saw him in he beat Lacy from one corner of the ring to another, he made Lacy look like an amatuer.

I love boxing. My friend used to fight in low level amatuer fights in Colorado and I twice got to sit in as a second, which basically meant I carried the water bottle.
I don't think I can argue with Floyd as the present pound for pound best fighter.
The heavyweight division is in an ugly state right now. I think the guys have gotten to big and strong to have a long, consitant career at that size.
I'll agree Ali is over-rated. Great but still over rated.
My favorite of all time is Larry Holmes. He wasn't pretty but in his prime that jab was inpenetratable.
