I was visiting the Where's George? (www.wheresgeorge.com) website, and I got this idea. Next time you get a $1 bill, write on it "This man grew marijuana!" and point to George Washington's face. Also, you might want to consider writing a URL like www.jackherer.com or www.norml.org.

i love that site... it's been going for a while... a lot of people who use stamps use the "i grew hemp" stamp for the one and put it quoted out of his mouth... I think it's an avatar around here....

"make the most of the indian hemp seed and sow it everywhere" - george washington

I search for forums that I think will likely contain would be voters.

Colorado and Nevada people in their 20s and 30s are the ones I'm trying to encourage to vote november 2006 to legalize 1 oz of marijuana for those 21 and older.

At miniclips online free game robot rage, I have a robot titled "NOVEMBnevadaVOTEpot". When challengers pick my bot's name for a battle they view my robot which has "www.norml.com and nevada news" painted on the hull. I also painted a cannabis leaf on the robot/

My cannabis.com and marijuana.com signatures have a legalization link as part of the signature

good idea!!
www.jackherer.com would be better... if i were anti-weed i would think of NORML as being too politically motivated right off the bat and not read it

Great idea, but I'd still be careful about who I gave the money to.

norml is dying anyway. their entire budget for last year was only $750k and is expected to shrink again this year. other lobbyists have filled their shoes however and are doing more than norml ever did. mpp.org is the main site backing the nevada question but not sure about them backing other state initiatives...all my attention and energies have been directed at getting everyone i know registered in time to vote.

Yeah, it might be a good idea to use the bills in vending machines.

naaah, its a dollar bill, how hard would it be to say that you either never noticed it, or it was like that when you got some change back from your local wal-mart??? this is, by the way, one of the easiest ways to spread info. great idea Oneironaut!

You know how Denver had some legalization bill past? They're trying to get the entire state that way by the end of 06'.

As far as writing on the bill's goes... damn that's genius. I can almost gurantee that no one will believe it though. Everyone thinks George Washington is a god and marijuana is illegal so he wouldnt promote it. I mean, that's besides the fact he had slaves...

Yeah, it might be a good idea to use the bills in vending machines.
Or, since they stuff the bills in the register "heads"-up, on the back side, you can put "George Washington smoked cannabis on these steps", or something.

That way if you hand them over, all "face-up", they'll just stick them in the register.

Let's draw the first sixteen Presidents on the back, all smoking blunts.

don't mean to be a downer... just becareful what you do to the bill... I've been on wheresgeorge for years and have seen good bills and bad bills..
here's what the U.S. says...

http://www.bep.treas.gov/document.cfm/18/104

But i've learned as long as you don't write too much... keep it in the border... do not write on the denomination, series, or serial number. Other than that you can pretty much do whatever... Red works very well as does purple.... round stamps work really welll around the bank mark (the letter on the front).

I just put 'make the most of the hemp seed' 'and sow it everywhere' - George Washington... on the front border and websites on the back. www.pot-tv.com is and easy one that pretty much describes what it's there for.

Um... for all of you who wanna use some Lincoln's here's a quote from him...

"A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded."

-- Abraham Lincoln, December, 1840

great idea and great way to spread the word... just make sure you don't mark them up too much cause the idea is to keep them in circulation and if htey are marked too much they will be destroyed by the bank when they get there.

Defacement of currency is a violation of Title 18, Section 333 of the United States Code. Under this provision, currency defacement is generally defined as follows: Whoever mutilates, cuts, disfigures, perforates, unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, Federal Reserve Bank, or Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued, shall be fined not more than $100 or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

Certainly not my intent, even if it was me expressing my 1st amendment rights to political speech, protected in the most broad terms by numerous Supreme Court precedents.

I would think that whoever wrote on that bill would want it to continue to be circulated.

;)

"vote yes on pot this november 2006"
you mention this in more than one of your posts.... y don't you stand on the street with a sign... that way you know most of them are actually from NEVADA
