Hello all.
I'm a fairly regular smoker - I do it pretty much every night a little before I go to sleep. I've found that it makes for a chill hour and then when I go to bed, I sleep better than I ever have sober. Anyway, lately, my tolerance has really shot up as a result of some heavy weekend toking. I was able to do this nightly for a looong time and get REALLY high off of only a hit or two (I have a constant source of primo shit). However, after this last weekend, in which I was high for a period of about 24-48 hours straight, I just don't get as high. It's kind of a bummer.
Anyway, do any of you have some tips for helping me quit for a week or two? I'm having a hell of a time. I have a very habitual personality and I am very prone to addiction, haha. Anyway, every night I say I'm going to stop for a bit, I just think of my stash sitting nearby, the bong on the table. And fuck, there's nothing else to do, so why the hell not? Anyway, any ideas??

Cut your smoking down to only nightly if necessary to fall asleep. Don't smoke more than you need to smoke to fall asleep (assuming you get marijuana-related sleeping disorders like the rest of us). Then you can toke as hard as you want on the weekends and your tolerance won't be as high.
You can also revert to smoking mids or schwag during the week (I wouldn't dare, though).
Finally, try getting trashed drunk instead of smoking at night.
Oh, and the more you work out, the more THC your body metabolizes. If you start working out for an hour a day, you will notice that your tolerance plummits.

Just don't buy any more. :D
If you don't have anything you won't be able to smoke. ;)

working out lowers tolerance? I always wondered why mine was that low.

what totally helped me quit smoking all together was adderall.. i just took a 30 mg XR pill in the morning, and dont even think about weed at all.. plus i eat 100% healthier, work out, get my homework done, and clean my room instead of the usual hit the bowl and go on the computer every night...
i had to stop smokin because im gettin a job, and i dunno, if a place will piss test me or not... but thanks to adderall, i dont have any urges at all... weird.

well my friend there are many things you can do. the first being finish off your stash and don't buy anymore. remember, it takes a lot of muscle movement to pick up a phone, call your dealer, and go get the bag. luckily your mind has control over muscle movement, so if you tell yourself you're not going to smoke, then don't do it.
although it is the most fun, buying weed by the ounce on my own and smoking daily was the worst decision i ever made. from about december through the end of february, i was smoking daily, and things were bad. i gained a lot of weight, my grades started slipping, and i was out of it all the time.
remember, not everyone has my problem. i don't blame weed, i blame myself for letting it take me away. smoking a few times a week or even only on weekends is so much more fun, rewarding, and fulfilling: both the high and the general feeling of being able to smoke after a long break.
if you can get yourself to go cold turkey for 2 weeks, u'll feel like a whole different person.
another thing is that if you smoke to get to sleep every night, your brain will develop a dependency on weed to get to sleep. that's what happened to my cousin. she quit for a little while and after a week of not being able to get to sleep for a long time, she was able to get to sleep easily again. so the dependency is not at all permanent.
its all about will power man. do you have it or not? that is the question that you can find out by going cold turkey.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Unfortunately, my dealer delivers :(. ;)
I'm aware that you can develop sleep dependency on it. I was on vacation during spring break and went a week without smoking. It was easy, I hardly thought about it. It's just when it's right there... so tempting. My grades haven't slipped at university, and I still work and stuff, and I'm not gaining weight, it's just that I want a better high.
You're right though, it's all about will-power. I used to only smoke once a week, so I know I can do it... it's just the fact that I don't HAVE to do it is the problem.

Just don't buy any weed for a while if you really want to just quit for a week or two. That's the only way you know you won't cheat. Just finish off whatever you have, then don't buy another one for a week or two.

weed has a possible mental addiction but no physical addictive qualities so just do it. it's not hard. find something else to do and it'll be off your mind. you actually feel GREAT for a few days if you've been smoking heavily and quit.
