View Full Version : A walking personality, long and boring, but interesting(to me anyway)

Ok, I'm a real people watcher, so I often pay attention to stupid little details. Today I was walking with a couple of my friends, and we were walking behind three other guy's who I'm assuming were friends as well(possibly business associates though). I noticed how their group was staggered one after another. This got me thinking, so I took a look at how me and my friends were walking, and we were straight in a line. The interesting thing though, is when one of the guy's on the ends(I was in the middle... which I'll go into more later) ran into something that made it to small for all three of us to go through, Rob, on the right would always go ahead suddenly and walk in front for a couple seconds till he was past, while Steve, on the left, would always drop back and then evn back up afterwards.
This got me to thinking what this could mean towards one's personality. I decided to see if the most straight forward method would work; guy in front, leader type, guy in middle, not shy but not above himself, and the guy in the back, would be the shy follower type.
Well from watching other groups of friends walk, I was certainly getting that impression, but you can only tell so much about a person without having talked to them yourself, so I figured the best way to do it was with my friends. Whenever we meet into some where, at the bar or whatever, I used their walking positions to determine if it's differant amongst who else is there. I noticed Rob was almost always(and I just say almost in case I've forgotten a time...) walking in front of everyone, while Steve was often even with others. And personality's wise, Steve is a goof, but a lot less so with people he doesn't know well, while Rob on the other hand... well he's loud and boystrous pretty much all the time(not in a bad way though, just that's his personality).
Anyway, there's more I wanted to touch on, but I've probably everyone to death if they've made it this far so I'll stop there;)

:p It all made sense to me, my friend. Oh, yeah, and how's the motivational speaking gig going?!! Old Saturday Night Live references are always funny. I notice little details when I'm stoned, too, sometimes they open up your mind and you realize things you never would've straight.

I've noticed that, too. I used to get my weed from this one particular dealer, and every time I went round he used to have the same group of friends with him. They weren't exactly 'my type of people'. In fact, I didn't like them at all but I felt obliged to stay with them for a friendly smoke, then occasionally I used to be too high to leave. Now, there was something wierd about these guys. It was almost they were like a group of social-outcasts who had somehow found eachother, and not having any friends, decided to hang out with eachother. Instead of being friendly stoners, being generous and kind etc, like most of the stoners I know, they were selfish. They used to argue and argue over who would get passed the joint next. They would bicker and fight over who would get the next hit on the bong. That's how wierd they were. So, whenever i was in their company I used to just get high and ignore it. Then I started realising WHY they were doing it. It was almost like a power struggle, each of them constantly fighting to be higher up in the pecking order. One of them, Mark, was the biggest, strongest, loudest and most outgoing, so he obviously took the role of Alpha Male, but the others, who were all slightly smaller, were constantly fighting to be underneath him. They used to agree with whatever he said but fight among themselves. They'd pass him every joint if they wanted to keep him happy, almost like a bribe, but then if one of the others wanted the joint they would have to argue for it!! It was strange to watch, but at the same time it was almost like being in an Interactive Wild Life show, i'm being serious! Because I was bigger than most of them, more popular and all that crap, (i'm not trying to be arrogant or anything, just telling you how it is) I sort of took the role of Joint Alpha Male with Mark. Whenever I would go round these guys would never argue with me, they would do whatever I asked to please me, almost like I was intruding on their secret world and they had to impress me. It was REALLY wierd, and I used to avoid going there as much as possible. Anyway, stuff like that I find interesting, but especially when i'm high, or maybe, because I was always high, I used to imagine it!! lol :) peace

That is some really interesting observations Islander. I would have never thought about stuff like that. Nice job taking the alpha male role ghostoke. lol
Yeah, i know when im high i usally understand why people are acting the way they are. Not how they are acting, but why they are acting that way.

I'm liking the observations, as a newbie im still gettin to know all the personalities floating around even this forum and it is interesting. People aren't always what they seem tho and their actions can be a cover up for sumthing they're trying to hide. Dont just look at WHERE they walk but HOW they walk; head held high? Shuffling feet? tells you even more....

yeah, i know this topics been covered before, but one of the main reason i love geting high is the insight it gives you, or the insight it feels like its giving you
i think alot. some of you may have noticed that already lol but i think too much and i cant help it. if something happens my mind asks a ton of questions like "why did that happen, how did that happen, what made it happen, how did it affect the things or people aroudn it, what would have happened if it happened differently" those kinda things. i dont actually ask them, but thats the kinda shit i think about all the time, about any situation. i like to overanalyze everything. when im high, i find i dont even need to think about stuff. it almost feels like i know the answers vefore i ask the question. i dont know if this is true, but thats what it feels like, and i love it. i can also tell what kinda person someone is just by speakin to them for a coupla seconds when im high, and it feels like i can tell what their motives are, if theyre lying, why they say what they say and do what they do, whats going through their mind, that kibnda thing. again, i might just be imagining that i have this kinda insight lol but either way, i fuckin love it :)
Edit: oh and Volatile, hey, welcome to the boards :)

I agree, and was going to touch on that sort of stuff but decided against it as most people watchers already observethat sort of thing and I thought the formation thing was an interesting subject to touch on. You're a on the right kind of guy aren't ya?;)

lol, I'm with you all the way on this one toker. I often do this(not always though) and some of the conversations me and my friends have gotten our of it are profoundly deep, oddly enough considering we're all stoned;). I also often will get high before sitting down and writing whatever script I'm working on. It makes me feel more in tune with the characters and how they would react, move, etc. Should be marijuana's slogan if it ever becomes legal, "Marijuana, open your mind"
Ha, Islander, you call yourself a people watcher. Ha. It sounds like your a stalker.
Im just kidding, i understand you completely.

Islander, you're a writer? What kinda stuff do you write, what genre(s)? I love to write. If I could, i'd love to be a professional novelist, but I know i'd just be another one out of millions trying to get published.. I still like to write for fun though.. so, what kinda stuff do you write? i guess you write plays or something, because you said when you write a script.. so tell me a bit about it mate :)

yah Islander, i must say thatz interestin. i never thought ov the walkin example but therez other thingz ive noticed in different situationz bout the ppl i chill wit that has led me 2 beleive that u can tell alot bout a person by the way they behave. one important thing to note however, there r lotz ov ppl out there who look innocent, but when they get rage there aint no stoppin em. alotta ppl think they can look at a guy an kno whether er not theyd b able ta beat him. ive seen alot ov freindz get beat 2 fuck by guyz they "can handle fer sure". fightin aint rlly bout size at all.
