I never realized that there was still such a conflict until I did outside sales in southern Iowa. I called on an account, ran through my line with the purchasing agent and when I was done he looked at me and said "You come from Canada don't ya". The thing is that here in the South there is no conflict for real...affirmative action has token its toll on some major cities but...anyway..our community is very diversified...you name a heritage and I am sure we have more than a couple of families from each heritage:) Its to bad sometimes that you can't get a "tone' from posting on here because my last post was really in good humor..which is how we have always handled the few debates we engage in on that subject...we mostly try to keep our community growing in a positive manner..we evn have built a park together...for the most part..a great community. When I first traveled to New York..I got off the GW bridge and proceeded to get totally lost in the Bronx I think it was..anyway..a NY police officer pulls in behind me and I just stop in the middle of the road..he comes to my car and as soon as I said my first few words he started laughing and told me that he would show me how to get where I needed to be..because being from Alabama (haha..it was funny) I sure didn't need to be in that area,he then shined his spotlight over to the side where we were talking and people started ducking behind the bushes..and I am sure I saw syringes go flying too...That Policeman was so nice!! He was my first impression of New York...I thought Newyorkers were supposed to be indifferent but most that I met with were great people...could have been from the South except for the accent.:) And this was shortly after 9-11..I know I don't like all the tolls in the NE..but PA this far is the most beautiful of all the states..where I was anyway..I have traveled to every State but the Dakotas...enjoyed most all the people I have met.

Higher end strip club.....HUGE stage with 72 ladies out at a time. They had fantasy rooms, etc........ I remember there was alot of BIG DOLLAR people in there. This one dude in a suit and tie walked up to one of the dancers, watched her for about a minute, then slipped a hundred into her garter. DAMN!!! I was lucky to afford the drinks at the time.:stoned:

I never realized that there was still such a conflict until I did outside sales in southern Iowa. I called on an account, ran through my line with the purchasing agent and when I was done he looked at me and said "You come from Canada don't ya". I told him I actually was from central Wisconsin originally and he responded, "Same damn thing!" WOW, that was my first call doing sales...what a trip!:stoned:

OK, I admit that I've been down to Georgia, on vacation - last year. Went to Savannah, and to visit ex-Brooklynite friends nearby. We enjoyed it, but my wife couldn't see how people can live in that gawdawful heat - and this was in early June, before it got really hot.

If I had unlimited funds, I'd get a place down there for my retirement - as a part-time vacation place, or for an escape from whatever else the crazies may hit us with in the future.

I actually like a lot of the Southerners, and their culture. It's just that we (Yankees) never say anything much when they skewer us and, well, like the guy that wrote the original rant ("Fuckthesouth.com.), they sometimes need to be gently reminded of a few things. The guy did not say one thing about inbreeding, lol. :(

For the record, I'm very "Brooklyn", and not crazy about Connecticut , Long Island ("Lunguyland"), and some other Eastern places. I like upstate New York, Pennsylvania, parts of Jersey, Massachusetts, and other state's towns and country. And, of course, my home town of Brooklyn.
