How seriously have you studied the scientific link between genetics and sexual orientation? Homosexuality is one of those wishy-washy areas of psychology where it doesn't appear to be entirely nature or nurture, but probably a combination of both. The point is, if there is some biological component to this, why should people be punished for that? Sexual orientation seems to be set by the time one reaches adolescence, and there is no real empirical evidence that it can be changed after that, even through therapy.

If you are going to admit that the Bible is incorrect in some things, how can you just assume it's correct in other parts when it makes outrageous claims without backing them up with evidence? How can you trust anything in it if there is so much brutal, immoral bullshit? How can you turn to it for moral answers if it tells you to love your neighbor on one page and on another it says to stone him to death if he works on the Sabbath?

Sure, there are some good moral stories like in any ancient mythology, but a lot of the stories are really horrible metaphors! They often promote things like slavery, incest, genocide, sexism, punishing people for the sins of their ancestors, etc. etc. etc.

Jesus had horrible bits of advice, such as telling slaves to bow down to tyrannical slave-owners instead of fighting for their freedom (1 Peter 2:18), telling wives to submit to their husbands in all affairs (Ephesians 5:22-24), promoting racist stereotypes (Titus 1:10-13), etc. I would recommend reading Emma Goldman's The Failure of Christianity (http://www.positiveatheism.org/hist/goldman413.htm) for more on the flaws and absurdities in Christ's teachings.

I happen to think it is important to educate people about bigotry.
