Hi, as you all know I have a 600w HPS in a cabinet lined with mylar. Im just wondering how many Lowryders Ill be able to grow under there.
By the way, I can fit 6 in, but depending how well they do in the small pots Id be able to fit 8 in.

I wouldn't go more than 4 though, just a thought, but it is better to have some room for them to grow and they also receive better light penetration, due to less foliage...imho

lowryders, I have not grown...from what I know/read about them, perhaps they are small enough for 6-8...I would err on the side of more room...lw

The general rule of thumb is .5grams/watt under ideal conditions, no matter how many plants ya have in there. Also, do ya have Sativa's or Indica's (or a mix, for that matter)? How's the ventalation?
Personally, I would go with 3-4. If anything, it'll give ya a good idea of what to expect next time without really hurting yer plants...

Cheers guys, after this grow Im gonna sell/trade my 600w for a 400w, because over summer the temps are gonna get way too hot, even with the window open.
Mind you, I can always plant them in the garden instead and have some nice outdoor bud.

I tell you i have 400w on veg and it is hot as hell, If I may suggest; custom wire the lamp so you can keep the ballast outside of room...do you have attic space above your room?

Yeah but its a shared attic, so growing in there is outta the question.

I was talking about setting just your ballast there to reduce
radiant heat in room

How much heat will be removed by putting the ballast in another room?

Alot depends on the size of the plant.

I had 30 two foot mothers under a 400 watt hanging straight down with a parobolic hood and it was fine. If you track a 600 watt and rotate your plants you can cover a 5 foot by 7 foot area no problem.

Hey Chris, good to see ya back! Read a news report on AOL about you the other day - was it really Hemp plants you were growing, or were they being grown for bud?

Is that chris?

tadaa, I would say 10-15 degrees, I am not sure exactly...I just know when I did it it took away my heat problems completley. Now your room cabinet set-up has a lot to do with it. forinstance I use AC...Now alone with transformer I still have to use fans, but without transformers, I can cut the ac and keep the room between 75-85 and all is good.

perhaps Zandor or Garden Knowm will chime in with their expertise.

They were my cannabis mothers ofcoarse. I beleive the hemp strain was NL, AK 47, and my own breed called ripple.

I was the only one who had Ripple to my knowledge and she is gone. They is Ripple revival under different genetics in the works in the southern part of the country. She will return

Sounds like a very potent and well balanced mix of indica and sativa. What was the high like?
When I move out, Im gonna start growing some more strains (parents would bitch at me bigtime if I grew something that stunk) and I would love to start crossing them. Dunno what Id cross though... Lowryder for the autoflowering trait (and shortness), Ice because of the potency, and Durban Poison because of the mold resistance and sativa traits.

I have worked with these 220 euro ballasts... they run two lights each...
they make NO noise and give off NO heat...

: )

Lol, 220 euros is a bit too much for me to afford right now!
