it keeps coming back beacuse it knows u have food. if u want to keep it around, just set out a bowl of dry food on your doorstep away from the other cats. the cat is feral, which means its a scavenger. it will do anythign for food. its learned that your place has food and it will do anything to get it, even if it means fending off other cats by beating them up. either leave some food out just for it or keeping it away by taking the food away

Hating cats has actually been linked(theoretically) by psychology to some sort of latent hate for a female or females, anger problems etc...All cats are different, so saying you hate cats would be like saying you hate people.

Anyways, just keep it. Your cats will accept it eventually.

Isn't it legal in somewhere to shoot cats... I thought Missouri or Minnisota passed a law like that a year or two ago...

Perhaps you ought to contact a local animal welfare charity.... assuming there are some in your area that is.

I had this problem with my cats and a stray, like they were sorting out the pecking order. If the stray hasn't been neutered it's natural instinct would be to dominate your cat.I would feed the stray outside and if it does come in for your cats food spray the cat with water.

Feral cats can carry Feline Leukemia which can be transmitted via a water or food bowl so you have to be very careful. I don't mean to cause alarm but I would put a stop to it ASAP and make sure my kitty is tested next time he goes to the vet. It is the equivalent of AIDS in cats and there is no cure. One solution may be to just capture the cat and take it to a humane shelter or clinic. They will usually tame, spay/neuter, give shots, and find a home for him.

Aside from that, cats are very territorial and this new presence is at least very, very confusing to your cat. Get a cat door with a sensor that attaches to the cat's collar and works by proximity if he must go outside. They really aren't that expensive.

Has anyone here read that short story by Hunter S. Thompson entitled "Screwjack?" Funny as hell. He had a cat named Screwjack.

They are ok but I once had my cat returned to me by a woman from my neighbourhood ,she found him in her front room kicking ten bells out of her cat and she couldn't understand how he had gotten inside because she had one of those electronically activated cat flaps.I guess mine chased hers inside and was so close on his arse that he was through before the flap had time to close. :D ;)
His name was Samson and he kicked arse like no other , he wasn't scared of dogs or even me, maddest cat I ever had but he's retired to the country now and he's probably decimating the wildlife if he isn't too stoned.

I'm pretty sure its legal to shoot the buggers anywhere. I love cats, but I grew up on a farm, and from time to time, some thinning of the herds was necessary. I've blasted my fair share of cats with no repercussions.

i would listen to this guy....

Higher4hockey,
Yes my mom grew up on a farm and there are certin things that need to be done. You would be "thinning" the cats to help them, I would assume. I dont think you sat there watching them suffer. you might have, I dont know.......

Set up a trap & take it to the local shelter. Those Have A Heart traps work pretty well & you wont kill it in the process.

I've seen people arrested for it on tv, whatever that show is Animal Police. I'd doubt it's legal in very many places.

I breed cats, however I do so just so that I can kill the kittens.

Lemon has some sound advice...

I would also keep the cat after you have it checked out and give it it's shots...

Once fixed they become lazy and more docile,so the fighting will probably end... also the cat won't have to compete anymore...

My catz are strictly indoors,my biggest fear is having them exposed to diseased cats,I even fear them sitting on the window sill with a screen...

Hey I only kill them because you nasty fucks wont stop touching yourself. Remember everytime you masturbate God (me) kills a kitten...

But seriously now, I like to torture them before I kill them, skinning them alive, squishing their heads with my foot and listening to them scream.

Has anyone read that book "101 things to do with a dead cat"? Very good read!

Cat in Germany saves baby's life

BERLIN (Reuters) - A cat saved the life of a newborn baby abandoned on the doorstep of a Cologne house in the middle of the night by meowing loudly until someone woke up, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
"The cat is a hero," Cologne police spokesman Uwe Beier said. "Its loud meowing got the attention of the homeowner and saved the baby from suffering life-threatening hypothermia. The homeowner opened door to see why the cat was making so much noise and discovered the newborn."
Beier said the boy was taken to hospital at 5 a.m. on Thursday, when overnight temperatures fell towards zero, and had suffered only mild hypothermia. He said there was no indication of what happened to the boy's mother.

its a stray, it wont be around for long. if anything your cat will let the stray know its in his or her terriorty. leaving food out is a good idea. the stray will eventually leave and go somewhere else, but may visit from time to time because you provided it with food.

thats good because i strongly believe in helping yourself, and being self sufficent. i dont rely on anyone, and alot of people rely on me. but id like to let you know that id feel the same sentiment toward you in a situation where an endangered animal was in trouble and u were too. because there are ~6 billion people and we've already killed a few species.

Leave the door open. Put cat food into a scurrel cage. Trap it. Throw cage in ocean or you could give it to a homeless person..err i mean shelter.

Iâ??m not a big fan of catsâ?¦ unless of course they are psychocats and thatâ??s an entirely different thread.

Thing is you shouldnâ??t mistreat animals of any sort without a damn good reason (like they attack your child unprovoked or something) In that case itâ??s on kitty.

But I also happen to think that you have a responsibility to your own cat(s) and allowing strays around your home is not in their best interest. You would feel absolutely terrible if your kitty came down with some kind of funk that ended up killing them.

You either need to get the cat and have him checked out by a vet and take care of the animal or you need to stop feeding your cat outside until they stray goes away. If you give it to a shelter it will be killed. Letâ??s face it who wants an aggressive cat around their family (except maybe psychocat)

Good luck with your delima
