Musician Smokers?

Anyone here a musician? What do you play and what influences your writing?

I play drums. And progressive metal, classic rock, 80's speed metal, and weed all make me what I am today.

I find that weed often inspires me to write quite good lyrics and music, and a cone before playing is always good for loosening up the vocal chords...

Drums, hell yea.
Actually, drumming's about the only thing I don't suck at. :D

When first started, I played a bit of Jazz (school jazz band) and got a good base from that. I also listened to a lot of Dream Theater and Symphony X back then, so those are some big influences.
Then I got in a metal band, and started listening to more metal starting with Lamb of God. I don't listen to them much now, but their drummer's style has definately influenced me.
I moved on to heavier and some more melodic stuff then. I got really heavily into Dimmu Borgir and Old Man's Child. And now I've got a pretty big list of awesome bands, mostly black/death/melodic/speed/progressive metal (not all together, those are just the styles I like especially).

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Bloodbath, Between The Buried And Me, Necrophagist, Thurisaz, and The Project Hate. \m/


I've only played drums after smoking once, and I was coming down at the time so it's wasn't too great really.
Then again, most of the time I smoke it's late, and I can't play the drums past 8:00 pm.

i play guitar and was the second vocalist and sorta songwriter for my band, but one of are members moved to BC so we just kinda fell apart, but watch out for my buddy im sure hes going to be famous, his teacher is like the best guitarist in canada, Mike Fagan i think his name is, but yeah by buddys name is Jon B, blonde hair, skinny, watch out for this guy, hes cool shit

I am a drummer predominantly, though I do play a fair share of jazz piano. Lately I've been trying to start a kind of classic rock/funk band with some friends at college, and I think I am finally starting to ease away from the straight swing scene. I still do love jamming though. It's really cool how when you're jamming with some talented musicians, you can just switch styles, keys, moods and still get everything to make sense for 20 or 30 minutes.

Actually, I do all the time. Fresh bag + emtpy house + drums = solo jamming. Nothin' like it.

Although, now I'm living with my guitarist brother and we's gonna learn some stuff together. I'm thinking some Dire Straits and Grateful Dead.

Im a saxophone player and am really into jazz and improvisation. I tell you theres nothin better than goin to jazz band at my college high as hell. The music is so much more intense.

I always play better stoned, as does my guitar/bassist.

Playing on E was intersting, each hit gave me a feelin of niceness, hard to explain but very cool.

Playing drunk is fuckin stupid though for me, I miss drums and fuck up.

I play bass in my band, and were signed... without weed we probably wouldnt be signed, famous, or even ever had a tour. Well i have weed to thank for my amazing success in life. Lets hope it carries on!

I play guitar. It's fun to play high sometimes, I make some good tunes :)
Other times I can't even strum the guitar.
Just depends on the weed I smoked, and how much I smoked.
I'm in a band, even though we all suck, really bad. I'm second vocals, and I sing more clearly when I'm high, but I normaly stay in the same tune.

i play guitar and backup vocals in my band. ive jammed blazed before, but never practiced with my band blazed, although id like to try sometime. im influenced by all sorts. classic rock, some folky stuff, a little bit of metal, and some jazz.

I'm a vocalist for a skanksta-rap band called The Bush Administration. We're fucking sick. The point is not to neessicarily be talented, but offend as many people as possible. We manage to do both pretty well. We have saxaphones, two kickass chick vocalists, and a whole lot of attitude. So basically...we're the best band in the world.

I do bass and vocals for a rock/funk group; we call ourselves The Fuzz.

Our influences range from Hendrix to Third Eye Blind, but I personally find myself most influenced by John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin.

What has weed done for my music? Not much, actually; it's fun as hell to jam while high, but I can't say it's made me a better musician in any way.

I'm a rapper/producer and I refuse to write, freestlye or make a beat unless I'm high. Weed helps me vibe with the music more..
