View Full Version : RooR... (durability?)

I'm thinking of buying a roor. I am finally getting a place where I'll be allowed to smoke inside (parents, then dorm, now finally an apartment)(FINALLY!).
My only question about them is how durable are the different thicknesses? obviously a 7mm is going to hold up to the occasional bump or drop better than a 3.2mm one but 7 is so damn expensive I might not be able to work it into my budget.
Who all has a roor, how thick is it and how durable have you found it to be?

ROORs are made out of durham schott(german for pyrex) glass. I have the ROOR bag that comes with it, and I have dropped it from about 5 ft. and it didn't break. Then again, the bag is very padded. However, I've knocked mine over onto a glass table about three times and it didn't chip the outside. I've noticed some chipping from pulling out the diffuser, but that's about it.
Still, take care of it. They are a very expensive investment, but to me, there isn't any better way to smoke.

whats your's thickness?
A second question... how often, if ever, would they be confiscated by customs when ordering from the UK or germany?
I am looking at weedcity and they charge an assload, but roor's online shop is a good 25% cheaper but weedcity does offer one thing, they say if customs confiscates it you only have to pay the shipping cost to have another one sent out.

what country are you in? the US, buying a water pipe is legal as long as you use it for legal purpose, so customs isnt going to do anything!

The question is: where do you live? If you live in America, try finding a smoke shop called dementia that is around you before ordering from weedcity. You'll end up losing about 100 dollars in the currency change. I know that purchasing bongs are illegal in some states (met a guy from arkansas in amsterdam that said he never smoked out of a bong).
In my opinion, ROORs are the best bongs for the money, especially with a diffuser. I highly reccomend the diffuser. They have a nice glass-on-glass design, and are made from a very thick pyrex glass (my thickness is 5mm, by the way). I'm sure a perculator or a 9mm thickness from magic glass would be better, but they are also more expensive (by the way, both magic glass and roor use the german durham schott glass that is only made in germany, from my understanding). If you've never smoked out of a glass-on-glass before, expect to be able to feel the difference in just one hit. They end up eating a little more weed, but to me, it's worth it.

I'm in the United States and my state has head shops with pipes and bongs so I'm assuming its legal.

yeah, it's legal. You're good to go, but again, check for a dementia before ordering offline. I seriously did save a ton of money.

you kiddin? pyrex is so sweet, i had a little pot belly pyrex bong i could like bounce off pavement, but if you get a roor get an ashcatcher and stem diffuser<---one of the best bong buying decisions youll make

it goes on ur stem and is like a screen that breaks up the smoke into thousands of little bubbles and you get a crazy filter job and really smooth hits, but with it you need an ash catcher or it will get clogged fast

a diffuser's a downstem, but instead of one large hole at the bottom there are many. As far as I know, ROORs have the most holes. The name diffuser is a term used in mechanics for displacement, I believe. I does make for a much smoother hit, but mine has never clogged.
