View Full Version : Did Weezer kill my plant?
The day after my biggest plant started showing her preflowers, I had them sitting on the floor while I rearranged my lighting, and my 115 lbs black lab"Weezer" smacked it with his tail, breaking it in half. Is there anything I can do?

Make a split for it with a tomato post
I think he meant splint, but im guessing you worked that out lol.
Yeah, make a splint, and maybe try taping the stem back together. It might heal, but its gunner slow your flowering right down cos its gotta concentrate on healing itself. Thats a bummer man, hope all goes well and you end up with some bud.
how long is too long, and will the lower half still produce?

The same thing happened to me. I put nails in the walls and had my grow partner hold up the snapped portion while I tied pieces of floss from the top of the stalk to the walls. I tied it in 3 directions for full support. The injury healed suprisingly fast, and all parts of the plant are still producing.
Oh, and I suggest keeping the dog out of the grow room. Other than snapping plants in half, they can introduce all kinds of nasty bugs to your plants.
Good luck friend.

as long as you tape it back together asap.. it will be ok..
and yes a SPLINT.. duct tape
you are golden
and
slap
the WEEZ!!
: )
it looks downright poor right now, I dont think I can save the top 8" or so. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

What looks poor about it? Have you supported it back up?
:( The top 8 inches are most imporant!

So what is the status.
Man my uncle had a black lab and they have the strongest tails ever. When I would come in he would wag that thing in the kitchen and shake the whole house when it would hit the cabinets. I am sure your dog feels bad about it I would give him some extra love so your dog knows your not mad.
yea, he feels terrible, he likes smoke as much as the next guy. The leaves are all flat and drooping but still green as hell. Im having trouble keeping the two parts together. Its broke it two pieces, not just snaped.

I say clone it.
Can you help me out with that? Maybe a step by step. I would post a picture but Im embarased how sickly it looks. The whole plant looks like it shrunk to about half its size. "no pun".

get clonex rooting gel.
cut about a 4 inch clone off the top under a node which has the most growth cells
dip it clonex
put in a damp medium (should be able to squeze a couple drops out)
mist
put under a dome if possible and mist the inside of the dome
cool white flouro or full spectrum 8 inches away with a 40 watt tube
i feed with olivias cloning solution 6 oz per gallon
If you cant get to a store I have cloned with out the gel just no promises

root the broken part under 12/12 and you will still get that top cola, probably even more buds you will get

Perhaps the easy way out is to make a clone of each of it's branches. That way you have a good "start" on your next crop. My current favorite strain suffered a root problem during it's last cloning -- bad dirt. Ruined an entire generation. I did manage to save one plant, which I've repotted and am slowly coaxing back to life. The best I can hope for is a few good branches to clone and better dirt next time . . . That's part of the fun of growing -- there's always the next crop, and always room for improvement.

MOBAY, was your plant still dangling, or was it completely severed? I didn't think a plant that was completely snapped into 2 pieces could re-attach itself, but if it can, holy crap thats awesome!

yours was snapped in 2... YIKES...
if that happens again.. you can try to re attatch her..
do it with a wet paper towel wrapped around the wound..and then tape her over the wet paper towel...
tough break...

G knowm knows best!...I'd just clone the part that broke off as much as possible and let the plant veg and get bigger... then flower. It will grow like a topped plant and you'll have about 8 new clones go grow!
