View Full Version : To Kill an American...

BlazinHaze

I don't know if anyone's seen this, and it will probably make some anti-Americans angry, but someone sent me this. I like it...

Body: You probably missed it in the rush of news last week, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.

So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is . so they would know when they found one. (Good one, mate!!!!)

" An American is English, or Fr! ench, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan.

An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim.

In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan . The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.

An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world.

The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence , which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return.

When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!

As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan . Americans welcome the best of everything...the best p! roducts, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least.

The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America.

Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's ! been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including tho! se that aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Ame! ricans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

Please keep this going!

Pass this around the World ?

then pass it around again.

It says it all, for all of us.

I'm proud to be an American...Well, at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me...

Good one BlazinHaze! ;)

Then why was the UK still paying off it's war debt years later? The design for the jet engine was part of the package and since world travel relies on that I would say that they were paid more than enough.
I would say that the involvement of the US comes at a very high price for Iraq ~ http://www.truthout.org/docs_03/printer_102403A.shtml

A spokesman for the CPA denied that the money had been lost or misused and promised that all the cash would be fully accounted for.

The Mr Blair and US President George Bush last week won a new UN resolution calling for international contributions of money and troops. The donations will go into a new fund overseen by the UN and the World Bank.

But failure to show where the existing cash has gone will fuel suspicion among Iraqis that large amounts are being creamed off by US firms given contracts to rebuild the country, Christian Aid said.

One senior European diplomat told the charity: "We have absolutely no idea how the money has been spent.

"I wish I knew, but we just don?t know. We have absolutely no idea."

Roger Riddell, Christian Aid?s international director, called the situation "little short of scandalous". He said: "The British Government must use its position of second in command of the CPA to demand full disclosure of this money and its proper allocation in the future.

"This is Iraqi money. The people of Iraq must know where it is going and it should be used for the benefit of all the country?s people - particularly the poorest."

How can this be right?

America has its good points and bad points just like every other contry in this world. I would beleive that it kinda just left the acount and probably into Bush's gready hands. This country that I live in America has become more corupt then even I think most comprehend. One day maybe not all to long from now and in my life time it will fall just as all contrys have at one time or another. Right now you just have to live, hope that it gets better, try to make changes when you can, and take a stab at a back if that is what it takes (I think thats the true american spirit).

Yes, I do agree though that America has done its far share of cleaning up this world but that publication is to positive because we have also done our far share of messing it up too.

I love being american just as anyone else loves thier country. I don't care what you think of us americans, we have contributed quite a bit to the world, and most of us don't care what you think of us in return. This started out as a positive thread. You know what? We take a lot of shit. I mean a WHOLE LOT OF SHIT. any other time, that's great. But if you don't have anythying nice to say in this thread, then go fuck off. Save your comments for another time. No one is saying that because america is great, that everywhere else sucks. I don't like a lot of things going on in the country, but I'm doing my best to make things better. I might not like bush, but I'll still kick someones ass for my right to stay here.

Being american is a little overrated, great, but over rated. We must have something going on over here though. There are only 2 types of countries out there, ones that truly hate America and the ones that want to be just like america. I think that the ones that hate america just hate us because they can't be like us. ;)

Now Being Alive, there is nothing overrated about that one.

Sorry man but you really are a mile off.
Show me where in any of my posts that I have said it is OK to kill anyone.
The point I was making was that America never helps anyone unless it benefits them (the gov not the people).
It's a bit suspicious to say the least when large sums of money left in the care of the US suddenly vanishes, the way Iraq is being rebuilt with the majority of large contracts going to US based firms is also a bit dodgy wouldn't you agree.

When will this "my country...your country" crap end? We are finally a global community! Like it or not, we are all stuck here on this "Blue Marble" and it's high time:stoned: we all realized that when we hurt our neighbors, we hurt ourselves.

With the development of the internet we have shrunk the world considerably. We can now enjoy goods and services and brotherhood across the globe in real time. We all share a common goal even if we don't practice it, it's called living in peace and harmony. Some people (not countries because a country is only a collection of people in a geographic area) only see their happiness at the expense of others. But rest assured, one day as the world shrinks even further, we will be forced to respect our neighbors or simply eliminate them. I think we're in the midst of witnessing the evolution of global brotherhood accepting diversity on a scale never seen before.

As an American I find it grossly unjust to look into the past for examples of what makes an American or any other country what they are! You are what you do, not what was done years ago by people are already dead. We all sprung from the Earth and here we live and die together. Just because the government of a country does not always represent it's people's beliefs or wishes, does not mean that the country isn't loaded with wholesome people who would like nothing better than to live in peace with the rest of the world.

Give it time, may take many many years or decades, but one day we'll all be dependent on one another to survive and prosper.

Finally.....Yes America is corrupt, deceiving, hypocritical, invasive and about everything else you can think of, but like the rest of the world, we are evolving and learning where our true values lie. Luckily we have the ability to vote out of office those who refuse to represent our wishes. We're flawed beyond comprehension; however, we are so empowered at the personal level that we can do something about it. VOTE!

So your answer to criticism of your countries ethics is greeted with an offer to recieve a punch??

Now thats exactly the sort of reaction and mentality that makes others think that the average American is just a big bully, you really aren't doing a lot for the cause to convince non americans that yours is a peaceful nation.
If I disagree with you I am your enemy?? So to be your friend I have to agree with you?
If the only way a country can get another to do what it wants is to threaten isn't that wrong?

As for a fight, being a Brit kinda means never running from a fight but since you made this post : I'm proud to be a decendant of the british. I've allways wanted to visit. I said that because as I said before, this isn't the thread for negative shit like this. I'll admit I didn't help by saying what I did, but I stick to it. I've never spoken up when someone had something negative to say about the US, as it's anyones right to critisize, but it didn't have to be made here. Got something bad to say, make a new post Some poeple can't post anything unless it's againts whatever the orignal poster has to say. I think there's a lot of shit that could be done much better here in the states, but I have to live here you don't. I pay taxes and vote and you don't. I voted, and I still got stuck with bush. I'm not happy about it, but I have the right to complain because I'm doing my part here to make it better. If you have something negative to say about the country, do it in another thread. I made threats of violence because, I was angry that something postivie got twisted around so fast for no reason. I'm not one to pick fights over the net, but I was angry and lost my cool. For that, I apologize.

Nothing against the original poster, for I'm sure it was really just an innocent posting, but this diatribe has been spammed out by those working on behalf of the Republican party for some time now. It works on fear and assumption that there actually IS a report that says this. In all the emails I've seen this in, only once or twice is there an actual link and it is usually to a Fox news report.

I work in an office where the owners are Republican and we get emails like this regularly. AS for the part in bold, just another sign of this being from the god-fearing religious right. For those of us who don't hold the same beliefs, we seem to be lumped together with any of the other descriptive immigrants to America. Basically saying "Sure we'll put up with you, but yer day is comin' boy!" (My brain hurts just typing that incorrect grammar)

Yes, I added to the crap pile this post has become, but it should die out soon.
[edit] I guess it already had died. I just started typing a bit too high i guess.

That kind of worked both ways. I was hoping not to offend c4, yet, I might have made c4 feel "dead", by c4 imagining who'd kill c4 (specifically).

Ok so tell me exactly what the Queen does except take expensive holidays and sit her ass talking to her corgi's.Maybe if I understood her whole purpose I could accept why the royals are so damn loaded.

I just believe we don't need a royal family.Buckingham palace could be turned into a half-way house then we could get all these homeless people off the streets   :D

they just need someone who appears to be in power when someone else is pulling the strings. i heard somewhere bush is a cousin of the queen.

What is up with all this patriotism?

Makes me feel sick when i realise there are so many stupid people out there ready to support what effectivly is a religion.

And why are people "proud" when they hear of their country's success in sports, technology or past wars?

what the FUCK did you have to do with ANY of it?

Countries are invisible lines drawn on a map.

Very simple, because 99.9% of us(me, included) are not known in the world, but if you were to say " I am American" that tells alot about who and what you represent. A big, bad 500 lb mother fu%cker of a big brother.
Nationalism allow the individual to be bigger than they could be by themselves. Besides even if someone sits on the "bench" and never plays in the game, it still grants him bragging rights --nobody likes to be on the losing team. That's why some many foreigners don't like us, because they suck and are always on the losing team

Amen!!!!!

I'm just thankfull for what I have that's all. Not saying things can't be much better, but I've had a good life. I was blessed to grow up in an area low in crime, big communities of family and friends, good food, good times and good memories. There are countries where kids couldn't dream of having a life like I've had. I just try and not take it for granted. I also hope that with the birth of mass communication like the internet. Kids will have a better idea of what really goes on in the world and I beleive that when we all grow up and have the chance to make a difference, we'll be able to get the country right again.

It's the job of the parents to change the way things are in their country for their children.
That's why illegals bug me so much rather than standing up and changing things they abandon their country and then break laws and steal(services paid for by Americans) from us.

I don't care for the illeagles only because it's making soo much harder for people to get here legitly. Remember the old if you marry an american, you're american? Well that's gone. My wifes uncle married a british lady and it took them something like 4 years to get her over here. Another friend married a girl from like ecuador I think. Again, it was a huge deal to get here here, and once they did it was even harder for her to get work legally. A paper trail a mile long and you still can't come over. It allways seems that the ones that come here that have something to provide to society have the hardest time doing it.

"american are Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish etc,"

and then he says

Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan

and

"The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America."

sort of contradictory

i am not american and i totally agree with hidden beauty

I don't have a bad word to say about Americans but I do have to comment on your big ego's.It personally makes me feel like you think you are somewhat better then us when I am sure England and some other countries deserve recognition too.

I AM PROUD TO BE MALTESE AND NOT TO BE AMERICAN!!!

The Knights of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem (to give their full name) were formed long before their reign on Malta. The Order was originally established in 1085 as a community of monks responsible for looking after the sick at the Hospital of St. John in Jerusalem. They later became a military order, defending crusader territory in the Holy Lands and safeguarding the perilous routes taken by medieval pilgrims. The Knights were drawn exclusively from noble families and the Order acquired vast wealth from those it recruited and later from the ill-gotten gains of their privateering.

The Order of the Hospital was not only the first military-religious order of chivalry, but indeed the first order of knighthood of any kind. Previously, knights did not serve in corporate bodies other than the armies of particular sovereigns. The Order of the Temple, the Teutonic Order and the Order of Saint Lazarus were founded soon after the Order of the Hospital. Each of these orders had its own purposes, of which military defence was but one. Until this time, most knights had been minor feudatories obliged, as part of the feudal system, to undertake military service for a prescribed number of days each year; some were full time soldiers who served in garrisons.

The Order was ruled by a Grand Master who was answerable only to the Pope. Knights were chosen from the aristocratic families of France, Italy, Spain, England and Portugal. On acceptance into the Order they were sworn to celibacy, poverty and obedience. Few lived up to these ideals; many were very wealthy and the Knights' standoffish attitude towards the locals does not always seem to have applied when it came to temptations of the flesh.

In 1343, the Order conquered Smyrna, which it held for six decades. The knights of Malta took part in battles in Egypt and Syria, and supported the Armenians' in their valiant defence against the Muslims.

See man, when I was a kid the President was coming to town, so we made a big Macaroni collage of the United States. It made him so very happy that he allowed a couple of countries to start a small little scurmish in the Falkland Islands.

So me glueing a piece of macaroni to some construction paper had something to do with the whole Falkland Island war.

No telling what kind of power I could have weilded if it would have been around Thanksgiving time & we would have given him a bunch of Turkey Hand puppet's.

Countries are invisible lines drawn on a map.
That's complete bullshit. The thick bold lines indicate borders of countries and the thin ones are the borders of states. Are you gonna say that the dots, that indicate major cities, are invisible, too?

Anyone who knows the background of the Great Wall of China and the Berlin Wall can say that we know how to get to the other side.

Don't take offense, Deloused, I have indigestion.

Firstly she's a figure head, a symbol of the countrys past and a reminder that Britain is still a country which is deeply rooted in tradition.

Secondly she's a diplomat, she welcomes foreign vistors and makes visits to the commonwealth to help keep up relations with other countrys.

Shes acts as a check against the Government and actually alot of power however it is an unwritten rule that she never uses it.

Finally she generates a massive revenue for the country, think of all the tourists who go to Buckingham Palace.

Without the Queen we would probably just need to vote in someone to fill her shoes, like a President however this position would be relativly powerless. I think few would agree to the job to be honest, she has all that money but what can she spend it on? She can't exactly buy a Ferrari or revovate the castle etc.

I've got nothing against Americans what so ever, many great things have come from the country as well as many great people.

There are however a few questions I have, excuse the generalisations and don't take offence. Why do so many Americans cling to their past so much, everyone you meet is Italian American or half Irish etc. I can understand if your parents are of one nationality however this happens generations after.

Secondly I'm not to fond of this "I'll kick you ass" mentality which you find more often than from other nationalitys. Just look into any thread on here and there'll be someone threatening someone else after a disagreement.

I think America's the Britain of the future. When China overtakes America both ecomonically and military wise America will go from the most influencal nation in the world to the second, something Britain had to deal with a while back.

The winnin team??? in what game man? People don't dislike America more than any other country, its all in ure head.
Name one country that openly supports another, when it comes round world cup time, u will see............England vs. France (75,000 spectators all screaming 'I hate those frenchy frenchy froggies, with there frenchness').......England vs. Germany (I hate those fucking crouts).................England vs. Spain (THE ARROGANT BASTARDS!).............England vs. Italy (Fascists on there mopeds....boooooo!) England vs. Wales (Sheepshaggers!) and vice versa, shit, West Brom can't even play Wolves without sum1 gettin there head kicked in, and they're seperated by like a job centre or summat.
The problem is, when you take it seriously, you honestly believe saying to any1 'I'm an American' gets you respect cuz of the big brother stuff. So if I so much as hit an american citizen, the entire US army is gonna come after me? are you mad? I'd buy an American a beer, just the same as I'd buy a welshman, a german, a spaniard........whatever country, I don't ask where ure from, I listen to the words you speak, and if you blatently come over to me and went 'Hey, I'm an American' I'd be expecting u to put me in a headlock or sumthin, then I'd think u were a schizo for answering a question I didn't even ask.
Point is, you are gonna get shit for your nation, wherever you go, if the nationality is different from yours, but what did you expect, ure of a different and strange culture, you don't talk the same, dress the same, or eat the same shit...............but you want every1 to overlook it? How about just take the joke (look at ureself and go...shit yeh look at that, I do wear way different stuff, and talk completely different, funny that! there's a place away from my home country, that lives day in day out, in this manner, thats fuckin mindblowin!)..........the non-violent solution, if you go to another country and they're like 'Oh funny american with his funny accent' why do you care? You're no longer in your country, you think a fuckin cow in tracksuit wouldn't get noticed in the Serengeti?
Its funny cuz according to the original post, I'm an American.....have it!
