I was just watching this discovery channel show about the brain. One part of the show described to you with visuals what cocaine does to the brain.....How it replaces the dopamines in your brain and then makes it so you do not get any dopamines untill you receive the cocaine again. They said that when sober...addicts will no longer find things that used to bring them enjoyment and happyness, bring them enjoyment and happyness anymore. The only way they can enjoy things is only from taking a hit of cocaine.

Do you guys think weed could possibly do this to you as well?

What im sayin is....Can weed prevent your brain from feeling as much joy as it once did?

weed deals with cannabinoid receptors so i doubt it.

I don't think so, but that is absolutely true of cocain. If fucks with your pleasure sensors, or something? I don't think it's permanent, though. I used cocain heavily for several years, and I do find pleasure in things still. It just wasn't there in the beginning after I quit using.

Marijuana has never effected me in that manner, so I don't think this is true of the herb, man!

What is interesting about cannabis is that your body produces it's own cannibanoids naturally. So what you are actually doing is adding more of what already naturally occurs in your body. Unlike substances like cocaine that merely react with your body to produce a seperate chemical. This is a basic argument for the use of cannabis as a medicine as their are cannibanoid receptors throughout your entire body. If only there were large scale medical research studies into the benefits of cannabis.

i actually heard this somewhere, weed is like a key and a part of your brain is the keyhole.

Any substance that gets you high obviously affects the brain in a way unintended,

in order for you to get high the substance messes with the natural precision workings of the brain and therefore your brain is not working as it should be,

Cannabis is the only drug that actually gets stored in your fat cells for up to three months, all other drugs can be flushed from the body with three days of sobriety,

lets not fool ourselves, I know the risks and accept them, I just can't stand fools insisting that Cannabis is as good for the body as Calcium.

No, your brain gets used to what cocaine does to your brain and when it doesnt have it, it feels something is off so you feel a urge to get cocaine again so you can get the proper dosage of those neurotrasmitters (what ever lol) but thats what rehab is for. If you give it a rest for a while your brain will get back in it's regular process with all those cells n shit and your addiction wont be your brain telling you, you need it.

First thing before you get into this, is that you need to know the difference between physiology and psychology. If something is physically addictive, it can very well have to do with your brain. What Coke does is physically addicting. Psychologically addictive is mostly just a way of saying it's a habit and you like it. Just remember that the brain is a physical organ.

You're right for the most part. Marijuana can cause depression, which in turn can cause a person to lose 75%-100% (rough estimate, severity of depression is a considerable variable) of emotional and cognitive activity, thus making an illusion in your head that the only thing that can make you "normal" is to smoke a joint...or snort a line.

I highly doubt the accuracy of the above statement. Where did you read this??
Cannabis is not to be compared to the physical addiction potential of cocaine
In fact cannabis is an antidepressant

I didn't read it anywhere. It's my own personal theory of how depression, rather than addiction affects the brain. Paranoia and anti-depression are on opposite poles. Although it's true that cannabis stimulates chemical release there is also chemical deficiency. Release enough of your 'natural cannabis' and depression sets in, theoretically speaking.

It has everything to do with being physically addictive! what you described in this thread was physical addiction, weed is not physically addictive and so the answer to your question is no.

why didn't God just make it so that are brains were releasing endorphines, serotonin, adrenaline and dopamine all day long.
