Personally, scientology is a joke, but that's just me.

There was a thread about this somewhere. If someone could post the link, I'm sure this chap would appreciate it.

This is the clip that made Isaac Hayes leave the show:

Quite frankly, I think the hilariousness of that episode is totally worth not having Chef anymore. Best. South Park episode. Ever.

It's not just a joke. It's a manipulative, money-grubbing global scam masquerading as a religion. In fact, most countries refuse to recognize it as a religion, classifying it as a cult or a corporation instead.

i see scientology as nothing more then a living science fiction story they make you pay money to buy fictional stories then when youve been a member long enough they let you in on more and more of the story and since its supposed to be real that means your part of the story its basically just a way for people to be living in a scifi universe sort of like star trek or starwars

The Scientologist will tell you it's the other way around. They say science fiction is based on Scientology, since the science fiction writers are actually psychically remembering the distant past. But the science fiction stories are still fiction because they're remembering it wrong. Scifi isn't based on human imagination or creativity or anything like that.

Is this really any different from other religions?

Well no, not really. Organized religions are pretty much cults with more members, more money and more political power. But this one is so obviously a scam that governments are willing to acknowledge it as such.

YeS! It's the same with all religions. I stopped going to church a longgg time ago once my parents tried forcing me to give way too much $$$ to the collection plates. That, and the fact that church is nothing but a large social gathering where mostly elderly people gossip about others in the church. Last time I checked, gossip is a sin.

Chef won't be on for the newest upcoming season, and actually, his beloved songs that he used to sing have been nonexsistant for a few years now. I think it was his time anyways. He was barely in the last few seasons, and when he was, it seemed like it was just to show that he was still alive and a part of the show.

Yeah I noticed that he hasn't been there but I didn't know he was leaving for good, and yeah his songs have been gone for a long time now, but the show is getting better in my opinion, its changed a lot since its first season

Did anyone read the article on Scientology in Rollingstone magazine?

I forget the exact context but in the article they mention another writer who claims to have been sitting in a bar with L. Ron Hubbard a long time before he started all this Scientology business.

He said that L. Ron Hubbard asked him what the best way of making money was.

The guy said, "What?"

And L. Ron Hubbard said, "Start your own religion."
