Hey, bro, give it time for a response. I don't see why that tester wouldn't work if it was calibrated right. Might want to get a second opinion, though. I'm a litmus paper man, can't say much.

Most people use the cheap tester from HD or wallyworld to check the Ph of their dirt and if they need to water or not. It only cost like 8 bucks but it does not work on water Ph only dirt.
