Tomthehippies Grow Log - 3 100% Female White Widow Plants.

Hello welcome to my grow log. Im going to keep this nice and simple with loads of pics any questions are welcome!

Grow Room.

I designed the grow room from scratch from a boiler shelf now used as a door less cupboard in my bedroom. The space is small so I had to plan everything to fit perfectly. I did my research bought 2 very useful books of Amazon which helped no end.

I 1stly washed down the walls with soppy water. I then sealed all crakes with polly filler then covered the walls with a anti fungal sheeting then with mylar.

I then designed a 3 peace cupboard door out of mdf with a 4inch inlet opening at the bottom and corresponding outlet opening at the top. For the out let I used a inlay shower cubicle fan with a low noise output (45dBA) attached to a carbon filter. Inlet comes directly from open window.

Im using a 200w fluorescent cool blue spectrum lighting system with shade for vegetation growth. With easy roller hangers which are worth looking into, they ballast the weight of the lamp and make adjustments to height of the system easy to adjust.

I bought a digital humidity/temperature thermometer which was the most expensive part of the setup bar the light but essential for the grow.

The grow room has been designed to accommodate as much space as possible. Any venting cable has been kept external. I didnâ??t want to spend to much but I didnâ??t want to skimp on shoddy materials.

A list of the major parts I used and links.

I Bought a 4 pack of white widow from Female Seeds and germinated them via the paper towel method. 3 germinated, 2 took off well 1 doesnâ??t seem as with it.
they were placed on a small heat pad.

yea! ever so quiet, i found the trick was to suspend it on some rubber grommets. minimise the vibrations.

Looks great so far Tom. Very neat and well thought out setup. Love the 200Watt globe too. Are you going to change to HID lighting for flowering? What's the kelvin rating on the current globe? I would recommend having a standby globe that fits the same socket. Doesn't have to be fancy but its there just in case your main light blows. Also, keep the plants short, LST, establish good secondary branching then allow them to stretch. I've found that bushy plants aren't as CFL friendly.
Turtle, give the CFLs a try!

ar great thanks for the "establish good secondary branching then allow them to stretch" tip. there growing very stocky at the moment, but i think thats cus the lights soo close to the plant there for theres no need to stretch to the light.. am i right there?

im thinking of going with 1 or 2 red spectrum 200w fluorescents for the flowering period but im still not sure.. Im not sure what the Kelvin rate is but they give out just over 10,000 lumens at close range.. 100% PAR.

No problem for the tip. I found you get better yield, better light penetration, bigger and tighter buds if you get the correct node spacing. You can also eliminate any need for pruning leaves. Although it depends on the strain to some degree, I had issues with a plant that was too stocky due to lighting being too close.
I haven't had any experience with using only the red spectrum for flowering. I've only used a combination of blue and red. The leaves always prefer to point towards the blue even if it's further away. If it were up to me I would just add a red when you switch to 12/12.

ye, get a red spectrum envirolite bulb for flowering, the fan your using is 85 m3h a HPS may build up too much heat for the extraction rate. Youve done an excellent job on the grow room, no cutting corners, Better than mine. What are the dimensions of your room, just out of interest. Also, watch out for hermies when 12/12 is induced, as female seeds are sometimes more prone to hopping the fence

height is 77inch
width 26inch
Depth 29inch

yea i think iv decided to stick with envirolite for the hole grow.. it makes everything soo simple.. im on a steep learning curve id like to perfect the grow with lights like thease..

If any1 has any tips for getting the best bud with envirolite love to know!! :D
