Any strain is cloned easily. Sativas need slighty more love.

i've found big bud to be very difficult...

What happens that makes it difficult

they don't root....
I do 2 different strains in the same conditions....humidity cover...floro lights not too much not too little...and none if the big buds root...0%...and all of the other strain do 100%
temps at like 85 with heat mat under humidity dome...

You use clonex gel?
What do they look like when they die?

Never used heat mats. I use the 7 inch rectanular hoods with the flouro right on top of it.

I use olivias cloning gel...

and when i cut them i dip them in a mix of i drop superthrive to 2 gallons...

place them in small soil containers...

spray them with a dilluted anti wilt spray...

let them sit...

in 10 days all of the one unknown strains root well...

by day 18 big bud clones looks healthy with no rootage and by this time my patience is totally lost :)

any advice towards white widow and big bud :)
thanks

ya sounds right, that is strange, I knew people who grew it and they didnt mention anything. I never used the anti wilt stuff as I did not want to clog the stoma. Thats is what I would have done. No idea here heads. Shes an indica so seems a bit strange. I hear the nugs get so big they can fall over.

I took WW cuttings and rooted in plain water, no root gel no other fancy stuff. Just water and little bit of light

here is a clipping from an article on big bud cloning. Some types of plants are more difficult to clone than others. Big Bud is reported to not clone very well. One of my favorite plants, the most amazing pot I ever smoked, but it is hard as hell to clone. What a challenge! I noticed other varieties that were rooting much quicker, but it was the stone I was after! Once you find the psychoactive, almost hallucinogenic properties of some Indica/Sativa hybrids, you never want to smoke a pure Indica again. Indica is however, great medicinally, so I like to grow a few pure strains too.

I use an aerogarden, it works fool proof, no cloning gel or anything else, almost 100% success.

I bought some white widow seeds from Dutch Passion in 1998. I managed to keep them going until 2006 when I stopped growing.

I found them easy enough to clone and had a 75% success rate. I found that the 25% I lost was mainly due to strict culling. I always found that the stragglers were hard to grow and were not worth keeping. I was sharp on using gel and a scalpel making the final cut in a shallow bowl of water. I always made sure that the stems were cut at an oblique as possible angle and that the gel and covered one trimmed branch set. Size at cloning did not seem to determine how well they would go although very small sections were less likley to succeed.

It was not unusual to see strikes within 48 hours. I never could work out what it was that caused the extraordinary growth in about 5% of them where they went ballistic with root growth. By seven days roughly 50% would be valid and removed. By two weeks I would have the 75% that I would keep. I kept two mother plants under 24 hour flouros in beads. and could guarantee to get sufficient off them.

I used rock wool that was well rinsed and had a clean rainwater supply. I used a cloning nutrient, cannot remember what, heat trays underneath plastic grow trays in a cupboard. I shielded the light by putting cling wrap to act as a moisture hood between the lights and the clones.

I did nothing out of the ordinary and the strain survived four house moves and believe it or not two busts. I used to check them frequently and removed plants from the grow hood as soon as they were viable and into the hydro set up.

The plants always yielded well but I found if I let them get big the heads were susceptible to mould. I aim to see shortly how well they can grow outdoors. They were mega potent and you have to see white widow heads in the flesh! They produced an astonishing amount of resin and the tedium of trimming with sticky fingers always yielded a few balls of A1 hashish!

Just got into some White Widow Clones. They are in week 2 of Vegging. I can tell already that I will want to keep this strain alive as it is easy to grow and beautiful. Its looking like a 2 week Vegg and an 8 week flowering will do them right.
