View Full Version : so im baking brownies for the third time (need avice)

The first two times were relative sucsesses.
first time i made it with a half oz of kind buds (i know, i shoulda used mids)
i made 24 brownies with them, and it turned out deceant. I had to eat two, but my girlfriend went nuts over one.

the second time i made it with an oz of mids. This time they were stronger, but i used the boiling water method...dont think i did it right, i didnt strain it with cheese cloth.

So im about to bake my third time. and im debating which method to use.
i think im going to make a makeshift double boiler, and saute the butter in the top boiler...this way i know what temp its at. After that ill use cheese cloth to strain it out and make brownies witht he butter. Sound good?

has anybody made kickass brownies with an oz of mids? im gonna make 24 brownies, how many did you make/?/?

I've allways used water and whole unsalted butter. Make sure it's actual butter and not cheap margarine. after extracting the thc and straining out the plant material, give it plenty of time to cool. You should end up with the fat forming at the top and all the useless water will be at the bottom. I've foudn that when I use margarine, most of the water comes out and very little fat is left.

I've allways used a very fine strainer, but cheesecloth works great.

cool, cause before i think my problem was that i couldnt get the butter out with the strainer. the cheese cloth lets me squeeze itout.

yea, using a strainer is a pain in the ass. you have to try and mash it all out which taked forever. when I do it again, I'm getting some cheesecloth. Roll the shit up in a ball and mash out the goodness.

The lst time we baked we used about an oz. I guess it all depends on how much butter you're gonna be cooking with. a cup of butter that has an oz of pot extracted into it should be pretty killer :thumbsup:

it's easy...
take a whole cup of butter and put it into a pot on med heat. once that melts down, add your ganja, anything from a quater to a whole ounce (i use a half). then turn up the heat so the whole thing boils. simmer that for 20-25 minutes. strain mixture witch cheese cloth, coffie filter. use the mixes that call for 1/2 a cup of oil, use 2 boxes.

i've done this twice already. but i dont think i did everything right, cuase i had to eat two to get stoned. so lets see how this third endevor goes.

I think the biggest trick is keeping the heat low and steady. you don't want to go too hot or the shit will burn. Too low and the the thc won't be extracted all the way.

Howbout clearified butter??? or putting a couple tablespoons of oil in it to raise the burning point???

nah, see, its not the butter you gotta worry about burning, its the thc.
it works like this:
THC boils/burns at 198 degrees F.
butter is about 120
oil is about 500
If you use butter, and keep it from bubbling, you will gaurentee that THC isnt burning away.
if you use oil, and you keep it from bubbling, it could be like 400 degrees and burning off precious THC.

Do you mean boils burns as in wasting the THC,making it useless or the extraction temperature point???

and i've always used a cup or so of water (depending on pan size) and tossed that into the butter/bud mixture while it saute's so when done one can peal off the fat layer (fat floats on water) on the surface and toss the rest...no one else does it this way? it saves a shitload on straining and makes for a very easy to handle piece of fatty thc!

yea, I started adding water the second time I did it, but I strained the mush out before I let the butter come to rest on top of the waste. I still had a little shake in the butter, but the cookies still tasted awesome.

it got me lifted but not flat out stupid. Next time I do it, i'm gonna simmer the butter longer and use a cloth to strain out every drop of moisture. I also made little cookies last time because I was in a hurry for them to cook. Had to eat a few to fell anything.
