Morning all~~My plants are 24 days old today, and some are just looking awful. They are under a 400W HPS, temp is around 75 at all times. I did just repot a couple and added more perlite to the soil mixture, as they looked like they may have been overwatered, but they are still looking shabby :(

I'm so very new to all this, so any additional help you guys could provide, I (and my hubby) would be appreciative!

Please please please give me some advice! ;)

Well you are in vegetation cycle and should be using either an enhanced spectrum HPS bulb or a MH bulb I hope.

What nutrients are you feeding them?

Well, I had actually started them in Miracle Gro potting soil. I know, big no no. So I repotted them in reg soil with lots of perlite, and then used diluted Miracle Gro after transplant. It's been 5 days since I transplanted....
I honestly am not sure if the bulb has an enhanced spectrum or not

MG is your problem,

Good luck!

Id repot them in a bag of potting compost from your local garden centre - its dirt cheap (no pun intended) and works great for my plants (the magical variey, if you get my drift). Works out at about a fiver/$10 for a massive bag, not sure how much is in there though. Perlite is a must aswell I find, for all plants.
The potting compost contains all the essential nutrients that you need, and you only need to start adding fertiliser after around a month.

Hey thanks Zandor & Swizzy~~I'm wondering, Zandor, how to go about adjusting magnesium. And how could you tell that was the prob? Is there a telltale sign?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm gettin' frustramatated!:)

I believe he was saying the Miracle Gro is your problem. Although, it would be funny if he was talking about Magnesium! Based on the color of the HPS, I would say it does not have an enhanced spectrum. During the vegetative cycle of a plant's growth, it does not use the orang-ish spectrum like it does during flowering. If there is an issue with money, I would suggest going to Home Depot and buying a couple of fluorescents, or envirolights off of the internet. However, if there is no issue with money, a Metal Halide would be best. Save the HPS for flowering.
