I just ordered a light from insidesun. I was wondering if anybody had ordered from there recently. Also i was wondering how long it will take for the light to come in.

Thanks,
Cptweedmanguy

Their tracking system is bogus. (at least it was for me) it took me over a full business week to get my light, but it also depends which day it gets out, where you live, ect.

Your best bet is like Karm said, call them.

I actually e-mailed the guy and he told me he couldn't e-mail me the tracking number because it was on the store computer and he was currently away from the store. (??)

Instead he told me to call him, which I did the following day. He answered the phone, asked if he could call back within the first 10 seconds and I said "Sure".

No call.

I did get a package that evening though. :D

I think he works from home- I could hear kid noises in the background, he told me to call back in 5 minutes about a problem I was having with my light and when I called back in 5 minutes his cell was shut off !! >:(

He did call me back later however, which I appreciated.

The shipping was not too quick but did make it eventually- like 10 days or so.
The lights work.
However, AND THIS IS IMPORTANT, my electrician boyfriend did a dissection and discovered that the socket is not grounded!!!! Yow! The ground wire was snipped, which is especially dangerous in damp environments.

My helpful suggestions to the owner/assembler/ whoever in the future are this:

1. Do the electrical by the book. It's an ag light. It might be exposed to moisture. The user might be standing in a puddle. The user does not want any surprises .

2. The cord from the bulb socket assembly to the ballast should be a plug-end, not hard-wired. Yes, I understand it keeps costs down, but I was annoyed by this because I keep my ballasts on the other side of the wall from my grow rooms so that there is no chance of their being exposed to moisture. To this purpose, I have a 3" hole in the wall just big enough to pass an elecritcal plug through. I'm stuck either re-wiring the thing, or putting the ballast where I don't want it.

3. Shipping! DHL is a funny choice, when UPS is SO fast and has such reliable tracking service.

The bottom line, the prices are great so I can't bitch too much about the bare-bones product/service.

Yeah DHL was very interesting. I even stood outside and kept saying "Hi" to the delivery lady and she was a complete bitch to me.

No skin off of my knobber. :D
