ok.. rumor has it, 2 plants in 1 pot may cause the roots to tangle and strangle eachother, one plant might kill the other.. or if u try to kill one, u'll kill the other as wel.. is somethin of a symbiotic relationship when they're put in the same pot?? not that i'm wanting to do that, but i want to add a different plant to the pot.. somethin similar to that growing near a berry bush or so..

Two lovely girls shared a large 15" pot and loved the togetherness. Pruned and trained to about 2.5' tall.

They may become root bound not to mention fighting for light

I think it all depends on the root growth system for the plant that you are trying to use. Some plants don't develop very strong roots at all, whereas marijuana roots grow deep and thick under the earth. If you're trying to grow, say potatoes, then you will definitely run into problems, though I am not sure about plants that have a less, shall we say, "abundant" root structure.

this present crop Im growing is actually the first time I did NOT plant 2 seeds per pot ... I always germinate, plant two seeds, then let them grow a foot or two, and simply snip off the less desirable of the two, .. I simply cut it down, it does not interfere with the other plant growth at all ... ( I never really understood why growers would warn about two per pot, always seemed practical to me ) ... :smokin:

The reason why, is simply root tangle.

Think of 2 people drinking out of the same glass of water, sure you can give them more water but in the end it's less efficient. Not only that, but they won't be able to take in equal amounts of water as well as if one of the roots has a problem, that problem might be harder to take care of.
Not to mention transplanting, transplanting 2 plants from the same pot into seperate pots would be almost impossible without tearing the root system to pieces. It's possible, but difficult.

Marijuana seeds put down a 10 to 12-inch root in only 30 days, compared to the one-inch root put down by the rye or barley grass.
The roots penetrate up to 6 feet deep, pulverizing the soil and making it arable.

If anything, I bet the dead root system of the sister plant would make the earth nice and liveable if you mulched it in.
(this is what farmers of cannabis fields used to purposefully do)

make a divider out of cardboard and a large, freezer bag 'zip-lock'. cut the cardboard to size with the baggie and place inside...then place in middle of pot and place soil then plants into each half. this is only good for a couple months due to limited root space but will make transplanting or removal of males much easier.

Do it jake, do it!

I also remember reading somewhere that plants can't use light reflected from other plants. All of the energy that the plants pull from the light is already used, thus nothing.

I'm sure it works no problem.

"All of the energy that the plants pull from the light is already used..."
hehehe,
reminds me of a lady that called the office when i worked and asked about the dam and the electricity made from the water passing thru the turbines...anyway, she wanted to know why we didn't take the water from the low side of the dam, after the electricity has been removed from it as it just seems safer...LOL

anyway, light doesn't work like that.
