Hi guys, I'm a fairly experienced outdoor grower but I'm looking to start growing inside for the first time. I've grown a couple of plants on a windowsill but am looking to start doing it properly with a grow light. I'm only looking to grow maybe 6-10 plants and I'm currently looking at a 125w Envirolite with a batwing reflector. What do you think? Will that be enough to start off with? Especially interested in hearing from people who have used an Envirolite.

125 watts of fluorescent isn't enough for one plant, let alone 6-10. You need closer to 200 watts per plant to grow anything useful.

Oh ok thanks, they're retailing at £50+, the ad says: 'ENVIROLITE' 125W LAMP,WE SUPPLY THESE WITH THE 6400K ( VEGGING LAMP )

I didn't realise they were just fluorescents, whats the 6400k reference?

125w fluorescents = 11250 lumens

according to http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_faq_growlight.shtml a good grow room needs 1000-3000 lumens per square foot

11250/3000=3-4ft of growing area.

I don't reckon you know what you're on about mate.

word.. I would question ur information, BigBlock, too, as I've been growing 4 plants with 80w

That is total bullshit. I have about 7,000 lumens per square foot in my grow box and that is nothing to be proud of. The bottom line is, watts = grams. You will get between .20 and .40 grams of finished product per watt using fluorescent lights. With HPS you can expect between .5 and 1 gram per watt.

I have a degree in lighting and electrical science and successfully grown quite a bit of weed indoors. Have you?

Check out eBay mate, MUCH cheaper, at £50 you are being seriously ripped off.

the 6400k refers to the kelvin temperature for the light. 6400k gives off a more of a blueish spectrum, I believe, which is perfect for the vegetative period in a plant's life.
