View Full Version : Realize just how stupid Television is

When i get baked and watch TV, i dont pay attention to the storyline, i pay attention to what the people are doing. and its ruined television for me.

Ive started to notice the stupid things that people do in sitcoms etc.. for example when there is a scene where people are eating, they barely eat anything, and if they do its ridiculously small bites.

Everything that people do is extremely exaggerated, and drawn out. I was watching fresh prince, and they were in an elevator, and people kept wiggling around and shoving each other, which looked ridiculous once i noticed it, but normal if you dont pay attention to it.

And notice how the extras never say anything! and if they do, its usually stupid shit which you can read their lips and tell what hteir saying.

just try to look for this kind of shit and ull know what i mean.

TV is junk-food for your brain and thats all it ever will be, get high and read something you find interesting, fuck tv, except family guy haha

Either I have developing taste or TV is getting worse - possibly both - because I've been watching less and less. It started with MTV. I used to watch a lot of shows, but eventually the only thing that was entertaining was Wild Boys. After that there was not a single show on the entire network worth watching. Comedy Central spends way too much time with teen movies that aren't funny at all so I fear the same thing will happen with that channel. That '70s Show turned to crap starting last October. I still like VH1CR and VH1 Soul though.

Try getting really high and watching people watch tv its...interesting. Whats up with that high pitched squealy mind control sound when you turn it on?

FACT: TV only destroys simple minds. I can watch TV and not become fat and stupid, can play video games without becoming pale and anti-social, and could probably take PCP without cutting my face up.

Does anybody read books anymore? They're way better than TV. For one, nobody yanks the book out of your hand every 10 minutes to tell you how great their laundry detergent is. Also, they actually have intelligent things to say, and the author has enough time to explain things that take more than a sound bite to understand. You don't have to put up with crap that's dumbed down for the average Joe if you don't want to. And you can investigate those subjects that interest you, not the ones that interest the largest possible group of people.

Every form of media has its disadvantages, including literature. Books have some things in common with television, like how you have less input on what you're taking in than internet. Books can also be quite boring. I do feel my brain working diferently after reading a book, and while I refuse to read anything on my own, I still get a lot of reading in at school, even excluding all the stupid shit in the "Honors" Literature book.

i havent watched TV since i dropped acid about a month and a half ago, ill watch National Geographic Channel for maybe an hour a week, thats it.

the same goes for movies, - with the exceptions of ones that dont portray a fake message. - IE: Forest Gump, Detroit Rock City, ect..

i realized that (i quote Jim Morrison) "Whoever controls the media, controls the mind." This is true.

imagine if there were never ANY scary movies... we'd all walk around at night with no worries of being randomly attacked by monsters and shit,.. (other than gangsters ect..) people can go through some shit, and say, oh.. it happened on that movie, so it can happen to me.... when really the movie was just a story someone thought up... its not real life...

The reason behind "The Big Screen".

I watched "Darkness", last night, on StarZ On Demand. I loved "Field of Dreams" and "Amelia" just as much as "Dark City", but I can't remember any of them.

The most confusing, angering, bizarre feelings from a recent mshrooms trip resulted from coming down offa the shrooms while having the E! channel accidently on, talking about paris hilton for about 2 hours.........god it made for an eerie background.

that's why if you're going to watch television, watch something worth watching, IE the discovery, history, or learning channel. The travel channel and food network are also worth a look. If you think tv is stupid, its because you watch stupid shit! I've learned a lot from television~

Thats true about noticing the flaws in tv when jammed. It almost ruined it for me too...but good shows keep tv alive for me like family guy and shit. I also like TV for the news, and movie trailers. Cant wait to see that movie Inside Man. Im more of a music guy than a tv guy. Get high and listen to some good music, search the internet for new music....

There's something I can usually ignore/not let it bother me when sober.(which isnt that much of the time)

BUT occasionally when stoned (not everytime) the canned laughter on certain shite TV just reeeeally stands out an drives me crazy.

Especially when it doesnt climb to its peak then fade out. its a sudden abrupt

AHAHAH then DEAD silence instantly, just the middle of the laughter.

I dunno if I've expressed it well enough for anyone else to understand..

But I know what you mean, I become far more analytical when stoned/high and its the way I prefer to be, I feel I can see things for what they are better.

When im stoned I can tell a liar INSTANTLY, I'm pretty good at tellin anyway, but I notice every little bit of nervous body language when someones lying if I've had a smoke - usefull skill ;)

thats exactly what im talking about. and sitcoms are horrible too, because if the actors are doing something during a scene, they do it extremely slowely and extremely fakely.

anyone here watch iron chef? notice when they are first introduced, that their stances look totally retarded. They are like holding apples up in the air and shit, but it looks normal if u dont pay attention.

I don't get sports. I really don't. What's the point in watching a bunch of guys you don't know throw around a ball? I could see how playing the game yourself might be entertaining, but watching it is just so boring and pointless. But they hype it up into some big spectacle as if I'm supposed to be impressed by these guys. The most ridiculous part is when they pay these cunts millions of dollars! Meanwhile, people who actually do stuff for us like the farmers who grow our food and the sweatshop workers that make our clothes are the poorest people on earth. But you don't know about their misery because the TV has distracted the public with sports and fashion and celebrities and other things that don't matter.

Fuck you man. Just because you see me get offended by an ignorant statement doesn't mean I'm sad or something. That's an irrelevent question anyways. In fact, you're irrelevent. You have no business in this conversation.

I'm not going to get into it anymore with you Englishmen. Why can't you just realise that your statement was ignorant? Was it how I responded? Fine, I apoligise. Let me try again.
Dear sir, your statement that American dialect is simply a dumbed-down version of English offended me. I suggest you either back up your opinion or retract you statement.

I couldn't agree more. I see so many people spending their time keeping track of sports stats, and I just can't help but think sports are just meant to distract use from more important things. Honestly, C-span isn't boring, yet whenever I mention something I saw they just give me a weird look and continue talking about something that has no matter in their lives. I'm not saying I don't have interests, but I don't talk about them like they affect our surroundings. It angers me that farmers are often some of the poorest (in developed countries) and that companies can benefit from child labor and foreign labor. Fortunately, I just heard on Fox that the Democrats' new plan is to move focus away from controversial issues and more on rural America. Hopefully this will encourage the Republicans to do the same so no matter who is the next president, normal Americans will have it easier paying for bills and such.

Sport are fun. They have been since the begining of time. If you've played football, or basketball or any other sport, you respect the tallents of the pros. I'm not saying that they need millions of dollars to live, but they're damn good and when you get the countrys best football players all on one field and see them play. It's awesome.

wow somehow i missed that completely ignorant statement. English is spoken in hundreds of regions throughout the world, simply saying that "american" is a dumbed down version of your language is completely retarded. Just because your cockney english is older than our rhotic north american english doesnt make it any more correct. You brits butcher the english language with your slang just as much as we do.

they are different dialects, neither is 'better' than the other.
