A couple of these threads have been posted I know but none that have actually spurred my interest. I got a radio (http://shop.xmradio.com/detail.aspx?pid=4&cat=7) and XM Radio (http://www.xmradio.com) subscription (for a year!) from my parents for Christmas. I listen to it a few hours a day as the unit I got is portable so when I get home from work I'll bring it inside. I've been listening to XM52 lately which is their unsigned channel. It was launched as a Canadian rock channel but features all emerging rock. Very legitimate singer/songwriter style music usually.

Really, I'm just curious if seeing the radio through the windows in my car makes me a complete douchebag.

I heard from someone saying that Satellite Radio repeats the same playlist on each channel.

I keep wondering if satellite radio is really going to take off like they say it will. :) I just can't really see paying for my radio when I listen to it for free in the car or a cd. I guess it has it's benefits, but I'd say you have to have extra money to spend or really like radio.

i have sirius in my vehicles and must say i've been spoiled and can't see going back to standard airwaves again! i've had it for nearly 2 years now and can't recall playing a single cd since its installation (enter the "audio express" home of the $1 install..." plug here). it also comes with dish tv so i don't need a home unit and not even sure if sirius has a home system anyway. sirius bought howard stern and he started in january but it's still the same show, just without the bleeps...yet they supposedly signed him for half a billion bucks??? holy shit...

I have XM in my car (came installed in the car when I bought it) and I love it. They definitely don't just replay the playlists over and over. They actually have DJ's. The DJ's aren't that great but they're not on that much anyway.Plus, if you're a subscriber, you can get it over your computer too. It's only like $10 a month so the cost isn't a big deal.

They have a lot of good classic rock and a reggae channel :rasta: that is pretty sweet. One of my favorite channels is the comedy channel. It's totally uncensored with everyone from Eddie Murphy to George Carlin and everyone in between. I was driving down the road one day listening to an old Eddie Murphy routine and was laughing so hard I thought I was going to get into an accident.

I have Sirius and, as Del states, I will never go back to old fashioned radio.
