I personally would go with 18/6 with veg making for a smooth flowering.

Well.. it all depends of course.. 24/0 is sometimes needed to root clones and some use it for the seedling stage of the plants life.

Personally, i'm an 18/6 kinda guy because it's much more natural to the plants life.

Besides, from seed 24/0 doesn't speed up the process by much.. a week or two maybe..

I'm a 18/6 guy aswell.. I believe the plant needs is... (calvin cycle)

After that I set them on 12/12 and build up too 13.5/10.5 for additional light in the bloom.

I like to give atleast 2 hours of darkness because I am under the impression and believe strongly, that roots will develop more in darkness.

I think 20/4 is a good ratio.

Do some experiments and find out for yourself, posting your results here would be cool too :)

^ I don't know if that's true or not, but this bagseed hybrid [ Sat/Ind ] I'm growing now that I had on 24/7 during vegetative hasn't shown it's sex yet, and it's been in 12/12 for the past two weeks. I SCRoG'd, HST'd, LST'd, and have it under a 150w HPS. I think I'll gradually increase the dark cycle to 11/13, then go to 10/14. Haven't decided yet. Beautiful plant, just hope it's a female.

kush.. plants that are started form seed usually will not show there sex until they are 4-6 weeks old even if you 12/12 them earlier...

When I started out I was actually planning on gradually lowering it from 24/0 down to 16/8 but then I realized that I was just robbing the plants of their photosynthesis so when I got down to 22/2 I just switched it back to 24/0.

I couldn't be happier.

as for root growth, my babies needed to be transplanted due to being rootbound. I don't believe 24/0 slows the growing of the roots down at all.

18/6... plants are genetically programmed to take advantage of the dark period. Like others have said, 24/0 is good for seedlings and rooting clones.

Make the dark period during work or school or sleep. Then you won't even notice :D

Oh yea, you save electricity too. Just a little bonus

When it comes to mothers remember cannabis is a annual. Sure they will be chill on 18 6 for a long time but dont you think that means something.
