View Full Version : Question: Headshops

HELLO FRIENDS.
I am 17 years old and I would like to go into a headshop. Not to buy anything, just to browse. Then have my 18 year old friend buy what I like for me. HehEhE!
Anyways my question is this: Do you have to be 18 just to walk in a headshop and look around, or do you only have to be 18 to buy something there? I'm wondering this because adult bookstores can block people under 18 from coming in, of course this is for obvious reasons... there are naked chicks and sex toys all over the place.
I realize that this can vary from place to place, storeowner to storeowner. Just want to see what the general consensus is.
Also, is it worth spending 60 bucks on a steel herbal grinder with a kief catcher? i can't order one cheaper online so I need to know if these things are worth the cash.
One more question! How much does a nice SHERLOCK bubbler (i want to hold my pipe and say 'elementary, my dear watson' to my friends) go for at a headshop? are we talking $100 or like 40-50? on average of course.
THANKS AND HAPPY HIGHS TO ALL

The one we have close by where i live there is a whole bunch of other stuff like shirts music posters etc. then like an upstairs area where you have to be 18 to go, and thats where the keep all their "tobacco smoking devices" at, but they sell porn up there soo i dont know

In the headshop around here.. they don't card anyone. But I'm sure they would if you looked really young.. like under 15 or something. But if people say you look the age you are, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You're not there to buy anything, just to look.. it's just your friend buying.. so it shouldn't be a problem at all. Just don't let the people working know that he's buying for you. And if they do card you, the most they can ask you to do is leave.. Good luck! :)

I just walked in one before with some friends. I'm 16, and my friends were 17 and 18.
They never said anything to us.

The Sherlock pipe... kinda like this one, you mean?

Its got metal on it though, but it looks cool. The site also sells psychotropics if youre into that sorta stuff, but most of it they dont ship to the US.

my headshop doesnt care at all a 12 yr old kid could buy a pipe, i doubt there woud be any problem with you walking in with your friends and just pointing out something to him and have him buy it, that is if you dont look to young, the sherlock shouldnt cost anymore then 100 for a pretty nice one but you can get them for like 40 sometimes. I woud say that is an OK price for the grinder, i sure as hell wouldnt buy it when they have $7 dolar coffee grinders at canadian tire. but as you can see i live in canada so things are a little different here

Depends on the 'shop. Two of our three local shops will allow you to browse as long as you don't look too young, but you have to be 18 to buy. The third shop is uptight, and cards you as soon as you cross the little white line they've painted on the floor.
That said, if you have a friend with you who is of legal age, the best thing to do is just act confident, and browse with them. If you get carded, your friend will provide his proof of legal age, and you can just say you don't have your ID with you. As long as your friend has the money and does the purchasing, the headshop usually won't make a fuss. After all, you are a customer trying to give them business, so as long as they're selling to a person of legal age, they don't care who looks as long as they won't get in trouble for it.
Remember, the headshop's not out to get you. They just have to watch their own back against the cops. Act cool, browse with a older friend, and let that friend make the purchase in the end, and you should be okay.

Around here, you're supposed to be 18 to go in. They never card though until you buy something. Thing to do is just try it. No harm done

The headshop I go to allows any one no matter their age, that could be because they have a big cafe in side though

I would suggest telling your pal what you want to buy and then waiting in the car. Everytime my sister buys me ciggarettes they card us both, and refuse to sell them to us if im in the store with her. I would imagine its more strict at a headshop.... unless its run by hippies who dont care, if so youre luckeh.
ive never been asked for id at a head shop. thats like gettin asked for id by ur dealer, at woodstock.
