View Full Version : Tempting Fate ................
Hello :)
Well it is tempting fate for me to do a grow journal because whenever I do one ......................... I just get so many problems :o
Anyway let's try it ;)
Well out of ten "White Widow" seeds nine have germinated and are in the pots waiting to poke their heads up.
I'm not reverting back to an old growroom because it simply isn't warm enough and it's just too big to try and provide heat. Anyway I've gone all kinda hi-tech:rolleyes: and bought the old parafin heater out of retirement ;)
There are absolutely no plans at all for this grow, I'm simply just going to see what happens ;)
Ok there are two pics to start the journal off, nothing much to see I'm affraid just some pots with compost in (there are seeds in there as well ...... honest ;) ) and the addition of the super modern heating system :)
love mand xxx :)
Oh I changed my mind about waiting for the warmer weather before starting a new grow :o

Aw, I only wish I had the same problem as cold weather. Where I live, this time of year in the Northern hemisphere, it's almost 80 degrees outside. Inside the room with my grow box it's a bit warmer, and that always spells trouble with my 150w HPS. I don't even want to mention the humidity [ ugh.. mold ]. Maybe it'd be best you started now, anyway? I mean, once that warmer weather starts coming around, the plants, being a bit more mature then, will benefit from it perhaps? I wish you and your plants the best, and hope they all sprout for you.

LOL Mand. I can't wait.
Is your stash running low? Is that what possessed you to start? Or was it more or less the tugging on your shirt by your mind saying "I need therapy. Get some seeds in those pots."?
Either way. I'm excited for you.

Ahh Mand i knew you wouldnt last... Haha. Im excited to see the start of a new grow for you. :) Nice heater too by the way.:) White Widow is a fine choice of grow.
Lets show everyone on these forums how the pros do it...
Especially with your "professional" tools... :D :D :D

Sweet, I'm excited to see how your grow goes Mand. Kinda like watching Jordan playing basketball or Beckham playing Soccer/football. Bon chance
Hello Kush :) Oh the weather, it just seems to be effecting the grows so badly :( , it's far to cold in Winter and the Summers are just so humid.
Anyway I'm hoping just to need a little heat in the growroom untill prehaps mid April, by then it should be comfortable enough for the plants ;)
Hello Grim :) well the stash is not to good on the decent buds but I have lots of forced dried leaves and small buds left, they are quite ok and do give a reasonable high, but with them being force dried they are pretty harsh to smoke :o
Oh I just had to start up growing again love, I simply am just kinda lost without a grow going on. I keep finding myself going to the growroom but then I remember there is nothing to going there for :o
Hello AS :) , I actually wanted to try a bit of Durban Poison this time but I'm affrad the chap I buy them from didn't have any of those seeds, so White Widows it is ;)
Hey AS. I saw you're growbox, and I reckon you have done a great job :) .................... know I have to say I am prehaps the worst person in the world a DIY :o and yes that shoe and the knife really is the full extent of my "tool kit" :o
Hello gin4dub :) , Jordan playing basketball, sorry I havent a clue what you mean ;) .................. only kidding I get whay you mean but it doesnt do a thing for me, now Mr Beckham I'm sure I could find some use for him :)
I'm going of topic a little here gin, but just the other day at work Jordan was on the cover of a magazine. Anyway this new guy was saying how he thought she was too ugly and false, but like I said to him have you ever seen her without all the makeup on, when she just looks natural ................ well I tell you what gin, she is a very pretty girl when she is just natural. She really doesn't need to wear any "slap" at all in my opinon, she looks far better without it.
Hello Buk :) I hope you don't mind but I thought I'd leave my "adoptive grow son" till last ;)
Buk you have just started another grow and I can't wait to see you show us all how it's done, you did a super job last time and personally I think this one will be even better :)
Hmmm I thought I had best start a new thread for this grow, I just felt like the other one was becoming a little to "self indulgent".
Anyway Buk I have absolutely no plans at all about this one, I am simply just going to see how it goes ;)
If they go ok then I might "pinch" them and who knows I might even try to "pinch" them a few times.
I really am just going to leave it up to fate to determine what happens ;)
Thankyou guys ............................... love mand xxx:)

Oh dear that made me laugh :) , I thought you were talking about "Jordan" (Katie Price) :o
You know I could just picture guys having thoughts of her playing basketball, with all her "bits" bouncing about.................. that's who I thought you meant :o
Oh never mind love, I'd best get to bed before I say something else dumb on here :o

Wow, until 2 minutes ago I didn't know who Katie Price was. Michael Jordan may be the scond greates Basketball player of all time (Oscar Robertson is #1), but I really would like to watch Katie Price play. Thank you for that mental picture that made my day :D
Anyways, goodnight Mand and thanks again for that mental picture:D
Ah well gin, I do get the "wrong end of the stick" sometimes :o .................... My family say that's because of to many years smoking weed, it's sent me "soft in the head" according to them :o
A very quick update .............................. Well the tenth seed is a "dud", it hasn't germinated so I have nine sprouts that have just poked through the compost and are now under the MH.
I say I have "no plans" for this grow but that isn't entirely true, one thing that I am going to do is to give them quite a long time on the vegitive growth cycle. I want to make sure I have some "mature" plants before flowering ;)

Hi,Mand mind if I tag alone on these trip,be nice to watch and learn from a pro and pro's who will reply when you need help:rasta:
Hello Kush :) I've included a couple of pics, just to show how things are looking after 24 hours under the MH.
They will strech a little, it's something I just don't worry about and in a few days I will support them with sticks. However within a few weeks hopefully they will be self supporting ........................... this is just my little way it always happens this way because I don't like having the light to close to babies;)
Hello Happy :) The tempreture is much better :) , I have also gone really super duper Hi-tech and even put an old thermometer I found in there, it's showing a temp around the 70F area (daytime).
I am hoping to be able to get the heater out of there by mid April ;)
Hello Grim :) Eeerrrggghhh the droopy leaves, I am expecting them again that is why I wanted to swop growrooms but I simply just can't wait to get started.
Anyway if they do droop when going to 12/12, I will just carry on regardless under the HPS and see how thing's turn out :o
Hello bluntman:) Yes tag along with pleasure, I always wellcome any comments or critism ;)
Honestly though love I am not a pro, I do have experience of growing but it is always a very basic and simple growing method :o
Oh if I can I do try to reply to peoples posts but I'm affraid there is a lot about growing I don't know, so I am limited to how much help or advice I can give :o

Hi Mand,
Looks like you're addicted! ;) Just can't be without growing babies for long can ya. I know how ya feel. I've got some seeds that are from some wicked potent 1 hit wonder stuff but have resisted throwing them in some dirt. Too many other things going on. But here's a question for ya.
Do you reuse your dirt from grow to grow?
Hope you're having a nice life Granny Mand! Haven't talked to you in what seems like ages.
LOVE YA!

All healthy little sprouts from what I can see. Stretching is normal as far as from what I found --- sprouting under sunlight, HPS, MH, or CFLs, the seedling always stretches at least 1.2 inches. If you're really worried about stretching and the effects that it'll bring [ weak stem ] you can use a fan on them, or practice light exercises -- bending the plant at different points along the stem, gentle twisting of the stems, generally things that would cause light repairable damage to the plant, to encourage growth.

Hello Grim :) ......................................... Hmmmm, another guy who goes all mushy over a few plants  ...................
Only kidding Grim ;)
Hello Marc :) I do keep a lookout to see if you're online Marc but I've not seen you. Mind you love I haven't been on the computer very much just lately, I've been having to put in extra hours at work due to the amount of bills I need to pay at this time of year:(
I only really get on here just before bedtime if I can.
Hmmmm growing again :o , well I really was trying to wait to use the other growroom but "oh dear", I'm affraid I couldn't :o
As for the compost Marc, no I don't re-use it. I just dig it into the garden when I've done, I don't even put it on the compost heap.
Good news is Marc I think that someone has maybe opened some more livery stables because the horse population has gone up around here recently, which means lots more horse poo ;)
Hello mrabrego :) Oh yes they will be trasplanted into larger pots ............... somewhere around about three weeks if all goes well ;)
Hello Kush :) Honestly I never worry about a bit of streching, if the grow goes as "normal", then in a day or two any streching should stop and the plants will start to thicken out.
Some may need a little suport for a while but I have an habit of putting sticks in them all just incase;)
Within a week or two any that did need support will be ok by themselves. It's just my "little way", I never like to get the light in too close to seedlings.
Hello gin4dub :) I do like the MH and HPS set up but don't worry love we work with what we have got ;)
I honestly don't know anything about CFL's and the different light but I have seen some really nice grows on here that were done under those lights:)
Hello Bobby :) Thanks love ;)
They will be fine (I hope), in a few weeks they will hopefully be fully supportive of themselves ........................ and I know I really should use a fan but I only tend to use one if the condensation gets too bad in Summer.
It's just me, I really like to keep thing's down to the bare minimum, as simple as possible so I tend to skip using a fan :o
Well I'm going to try and not post pics all the time, if you post them too often sometimes it's difficult to see any changes.
However here's some from early today. The streching will carry on for a day or two but that's alright.
Anyway so far these seeds have behaved as they are supposed too, the timescale on how they are growing is right. The last lot, on the abandoned grow never seemed quite right.
Also it's been cooler today, the temprture was down to 60F, I'm even measuring the temp now
Thanks guys ........................ love mand xxx:)

It's true though love, the horse population has gone right up just lately, everytime I take the dogs out on their walks I'm constantly coming home with a carrier bag of frozen horse poo ..................... it's a bit chilly here;)
Hello Rekap :) , well not too much happening I'm affraid, mind you early days yet.

Hello Grim :) , Ah glad to hear it love, there are just too many "mushy" guys around ;)

Hello Mobay :) , nice to hear from you ...............
I'm affraid no matter how many times I told myself to wait and use the other growroom I just couldn't :o
Tell you what Mobay secretly I'm hoping to get two grows done during this Summer, If these grow alright I might try some other Dutch Passion seeds again next time ;)
Update ........................... well nothing much really, I have put some support sticks in, although I'm not sure they needed them but I always support them anyway just incase.
Oh and the old parrafin heater is working a treat, it's very cold outside and the temp in the growroom is near the 70F mark again today :)

Hello Buk, Greenmonster :) , I'm affraid I haven't been participating with the posting too much this last few days, been feeling really ill:( .
Anyway I've had to resort to my own medicinal practices, which involves copious amounts of cannabis and vodka, it's not a cure but you just don't care about being ill so much :o ;)
Oh how did I feel about sucsessfully completeing my first grow Buk ? ........................ very relieved :) , on the very first attempt not one seed even germinated :o
Ok a little update :) ........................ well even though the weather here is bitterly cold the little paraffin heater is keeping the temp in the growroom around the 60 - 65 F mark.
I tell you the other night it was so cold in the house that I spent the night on the sofa in the living room, well there is still an old open fireplace in there and I really couldn't move from it :o. Neither could my dogs, they spent the night in front of it streched out on the rug ;)
Anyway the plants ................. they have been under the MH for nine days now and the progess is quite ok, nothing to rave about but then again nothing to worry about ethier.
I'll just post a couple of pics from earlier today.

Is it difficult to start seedlings with an HID? I have no lights at the moment, and I'll be growing very soon. I'm a little indesicive about what to purchase. Is it flouresents for seedlings and veg, or do I go with an hps switchable, and a metal hilide conversion bulb? That would cost me less in the long run, and I could get it soon, but I'm worried about being a first time grower, and using HID's off the bat./shrug (I don't want to kill my babies!)
How do you pull it off? I mean with the HID's for seedlings?

Usually, if you have a good distance from the bulb, they'll be fine. Just check the moisture levels of the medium the seedling is in -- if it's too dry, chances are the bulb is too close or the area too warm, or a combination. If you want to play it safe, buy just a simple medium socket compact fluorescent [ CFL ]. They screw into standard household incandescent sockets, use a whole lot less energy, and give off ultraviolet radiation that stimulates plant growth. You can buy 25w daylight spectrum CFLs at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. for cheap. The reason to get daylight spectrum is for their higher kelvin output -- meaning that for vegetative growth [ that's from the time it pops the soil's surface until you decide to induce flowering ] you want 5000k light or higher. The daylight spectrum comes with 6500k, which is actually around ~1,500k brighter than the sun's [ Sol's, rather ] visible surface -- or it's photosphere. The slightly higher kelvin output will demote internodal stretching, and promote side branching. Meaning you'll get a bush instead of a long twig with fan leaves. Although, an MH at a distance on a plant from seedling wouldn't hurt, just monitor the temperatures.
And Mobay; get back into growing simply because I want to see another HST'd plant thread. That fucking plant was huge. When I first saw the pictures, this popped in my head http://www.jahozafat.com/0058493028/WAVS/Movies/Deuce_Bigalow_Male_Gigolo/hugebitch.wav

Howdy mand, t'is great to find another uk grower on here, especially one so passionate for growing the herb
Going to enjoy watching your babes grow, WW is a very nice smoke with good medi qualities. :smokin:
Hello Kush :) , I should be pinching/topping them at least once, I wouldn't mind trying twice but I'll wait and see how they go first.
I've always fancied trying multiple pinching like you're plant, I think it transforms a single plant from being "just a plant" into being basiclly a "bush";)
By the way Kush I always have a tendancy to call it "pinching" more so than "topping" because that's what it really is, I always use my fingernails to just "pinch" off the new growth :o
Hello JunkYard :) , well most will say that a MH/HPS conversion is the best combination and I do agree with that ;) .
I've always started seedlings off under the MH bulb as soon as they poke their sprouts out of the compost.
The thing is just don't get the lamp in to close or else you may risk "frazzling" them with the heat from the bulb. The use of fan is a very good idea, it allows the lamp to be bought in quite close and therefore helps to prevent "overstreching", also it helps to promote strong stem growth.
Altough I'm a bit awkward when it comes to using a fan, I really do try to keep everything down to the bare minimum on a grow..................... it's just "my way" :o
I will use a fan if it gets too hot in the growroom or if there is a problem with humidity, other than that I don't bother because if the weather is ok then I will leave the growroom door open.
Anyway JunkYard, you can see from the pics that at first I will leave the lamp fairly high up over the seedlings and there is a little streching for the first few days, I honestly don't worry about this at all because after the first intial few days the streching stops and the plants begin to fill out.
Oh and as for watering them, I just use one of the little plastic spray gun thingys, I don't use the watering can untill they are transplated into their bigger pots ............................... I find this the best way of getting the amount of water just right ;)
Hello Mobay :) , Ah you won't be able to keep away from it for long love,..................... you've been bitten by the growing bug, so I'm affraid theres no stopping now for you ;) :)
Hello gin4dub:) Ah I just wish that I could give up the "fags" though love :o
I started when I was at at school, must have been about 13 at the time. The thing is smoking wasn't classed so "anti social" back then and it really was the "done thing" to sneak behind the toilets or the bike shed at dinner and break times for a quick smoke:o
Honestly Gin, I have given up so many times but after about 3/4 months I kinda just have one and then drift back into the dammed things again:(

Hello Mobay :) What I actually made a guy excited  .................. oh you mean about the growing
Only kidding Mobay, just me trying a bit of "humor", doesn't quite work on the internet does it :o
Ah well Mobay it was our Mr Latewood who said ages ago that "Cannabis doesn't become addictive untill you start growing it", I reckon those words are so true. I often try to kid myself that I only grow because it is cheaper than buying the stuff, but you know I honestly believe that if all of a sudden money became no object to me (I wish ), I reckon that I would still grow my own .......................... there aren't many things more satisfying than getting wasted on a bit of genuine homegrown :)
Hello Buk :) "Hows it growing" ? .................. is that some grower type term for "Hows it hanging" ;)
Sorry Buk love :o , I'm in one of my "funny" moods to night, had a few Vodies and a little spliffy and still manage to type.
Ah the "old fart", to be honest I've not seen anything off him just lately. You know Buk I can't help but feel a little sad for him. I know he has "snapped" at people before without any provocation. What I understand is he has lived alone for many years now, since his wife left him and I do wonder is it simply lonliness that has made him a bit bitter and twisted.

Hello alchemiser :) Oh grow too much ................. I honestly wish I could. You know no matter how many grows I do, I never ever seem to be able to say "that's plenty".
Hmmm I thought about germinating a few Skunk seeds to put in there as well but I am trying to keep the numbers down for once and let more light to them;)
Oh by the way I have had a look at "Jack the Ripper", isn't she just a beautifully formed plant, I can just picture her at harvest time :)
Hello calibabe, lovely to hear from you :)
No guessing where you're from with that name ;) . You know I can just picture being on a beach in California (I hope I spelt that right), with the waves crashing and watching Patrick Swayze and Keenau Reeves doing their "Point Break" bit :).
Ah well never mind I suppose I just have to settle for being in freezing middle England, having to wear woolly tight's under my PJ's just to keep warm.
Hmmm yes you do meet a few girls growing on here as well:)
Thankyou ............................................ love mand :) xxx
Hmmm that's the last time I do a late night post :o
Not really an update, more of an introduction ;) . Well there always seems to be one "little runty" in any grow.
I always refer to the runts as she or her because nine times out of ten they do tend to be females.
The first pic is of her with two of her siblings and the second pick is with the rest of the gang. Oh and she also has brown patches coming on her leaves, she really is not the most healthiest of plants :(
Anyway, never mind I always have an habit of siding with the "underdog" so to speak, I'll see how she goes on ;)

Hey Mand,
"How's it Growing"? I like that. Good one Buk. :)
Plants are looking healthy. Keep the updates and pictures coming.
Hello Happy :) , How are you ? .................... well I hope :)
Hmmm they seem reasonably healthy so far, "little runty's" bottom leaves seem to be dying off quite early though ................ sooner than usual.
Oh and I noticed this morning that another one's bottom leaves seem to be starting to go the same way ....................... never mind the new growth seems fine ;)
I'll just post two pics from this morning, that will be the start of day thirteen since sprouting ............................ I'm even keeping count of the days now :o

Mand so when do u think you'll switch to flowering?
Hello Buk :) , I really don't know love, it's going to be a long grow this time ;)
I'm just trying to think when, it's nearly the end of March now so prehaps something like end of May beinging of June possibly ?
I think I've been inducing to soon on the last few grows so I'm going to try and let them get a little more mature this time if everything goes ok :o

 WoW Mand end of May. Yeah I guess it is going to be a long wait but I'm pretty sure you will have great results, are also going to give them more time before you cut them at harvest time? As for me I think I might go and switch in the Middle of April:thumbsup: So are you going to top ur plants this time around?
Hello again Buk :), well I will be pinching them if they survive that long :o
I'm not kidding Buk I really could swear, this growing lark has become a right old pain in the arse this last year:( .
I don't think the runt will last much longer the rusty coloured patches are spreading and there is a little on the leaf of another plant. Anyway I've rasied the light slightly as the leaves have a dry feel to them, I'm wondering if it might be that causing the problem.
Also if things manage to settle down I think that a little re-potting wouldn't do any harm quite soon.
Honestly Buk if I felt more secure doing it I would pack the lamp away and do one great big outdoor grow a year, it's so much easier.
Well love I think I'll just go and have a sulk now :o ;)

Oh Mand I dont like to hear u worrying over the plants I know ur a phenominal grower and can pull this one through. Dont worry so much they are "tough little buggers".;)

Oh mand your poorly little babe :(
The re-potting sounds a really good move, fingers crossed the runt does pull through for you.
Hope it's nothing worse than heat damage, though when you said it had spread to the bottom leaves of another plant i can't help but think 'pathogen'.
After catching up on all your updates i'd say not starting the skunk seeds was a very good more, widows respond very nicely to some training & will fill your growroom nicely.
I'll be watching nervously for your next update of the runt mand :o
PS. Thanks for taking the time to have a look at me JTR, she's been a real pleasure to grow thus far. :p

Hey, Mand. How's it going? :)
The plant's are looking nice -- we can only hope 'the runt' pulls through, but I'm sure it will. So no worries about that.
...well I will be pinching them if they survive that long..
Then let's hope they survive that long.
Hello Buk :) , I was a bit annoyed yesterday :o
You know it's was one of those days were absolutely nothing goes right ...................... mind you most days tend to be a bit like that
Mind you I seriously would do one big outdoor grow a year if I felt comfortable about security, it really is so much easier and I think it's a more natural way of growing.
It does have it's problems though, the buds tend to be looser due to the limited sunlight but the biggest problem I found was "bud rot", I lost quite a decent percentage of buds due to the wet and damp weather we have around harvest time.
Hmmm just thinking a greenhouse would be good ;)
Hello alchemiser :), I think you've hit the nail on the head so to speak .................... heat ;)
I actually put a thermometer in there for the first time ever because I was concerned about the cold. Anyway I put it at the side of the plants and it was reading around 60 - 70F. However last night I moved the light up and put the thermometer on the plant pots, anyway this morning after the light had been on only for about half an hour I saw it was reading nearly 80F, which means with the light being so close it must have been getting awfully warm under there. So I'm hoping that I have just frazzled them a bit :o
I think they are looking better today and I have also nipped the damaged leaves off, I never keep damaged leaves on I think they just take energy away from the good leaves.
I reckon that the leaves felt far too dry as well, which also pointed to a heat problem.
It's just a matter of waiting now to see if that cures the little problem ;)
Hello Kush :) Ah I think I've just been making silly little mistakes and I'm hoping they go ok now.
To be honest I've had my mind on other things just lately so maybe the growing has been a bit more "half arsed" than it usually is :o

Mand, is it true that you dont use a fan? How does the plant support the bud without falling over? Im asking this because Im growing another 4 lows, and when the males appear (if any, but Im sure theyll arrive) Im gonna pull them and germ another couple, and with 5 or 6 females I wont have any space for a fan.
Is there a breeze coming in from somewhere in your growroom?

Hi Mand, Hope you're feeling better. Work makes me sick too...HA!
Have you ever thought of planting in the size of the second pots first? Would be interesting to see what they would look like if they had had more room for the roots. Maybe no difference, but it seems like more room wouldn't have hurt them any. Course who am I to suggest such drival to the Master.
Also, since 'runty' looks to be in bad shape (as compared to the others) why don't you fert more to see if it brings it around? Be like an experiment! The two grows I did the first one (two males) grew like crazy and I was fertilizing them like a crazed first timer! Mega doses and they were some very impressive plants. 2nd grow, I listened to the experts and didn't give them hardly anything. Had major problems with dying leaves and subsequent leaf drop. Since then have learned that they were starving! Just thought 'ol Runty might benefit from some special care. But I know you don't like to mess with them once they're in the dirt!
Marc
Hello Swizzy :), I have actually been thinking of putting a fan in there but I'm affraid that's as far as I get .................... "thinking about it" :o .
The stems always seem to grow thick enough and support is never really a problem. Although at first there is a certain amount of streching, nothing to worry about though as this soon stops and the plants "fill out" more.
The ventilation Swizzy, is basiclly none exsistant in the growroom, it's a small 6 x 6, brick out building with no air bricks or anything. However when the weather is ok I do leave the door open in the daytime.
Hmmm the "Toyboy" idea, well I havent quite made my mind up yet :o ................... ethier a strapping young man with plenty of "energy" ;) or some old codger about on his least legs but with a "shed load of money" ;) :)
Hello Marc :) well love I will try for "little runty" but in all honesty I think she isn't going to "stay the course" :( .
I always find that Marc, in every grow there is always the runt, sometimes they survive and go all the way to harvest but to be honest I don't think this one will.
Infact the whole grow says I'm doing something wrong, and I'm just not sure what  . I know the seeds are ok because of how they started, just like they are supposed too, however there seems to be something "not quite right again", some of the leaves are dis-coloured.
I am hoping I have just "frazzled" them a bit and with time they will go right, but I'm not sure :o
The fact is that I've been having such poor luck in the growroom that I wanted to shift into another one but I'm affraid I couldn't wait and have started in here again. Maybe when the weather has picked up I might still move them.
The pots, I'm affraid I will stick to starting them in the small pots ..................... the reason is really quite simple for this. I start them off in the house and the small pots are fine and can be put out of the way, but there is no way I'm going to have those great big bucket type pots hanging around the house.
Anyway Marc I've never worried about the roots to much as I used to grow in pots actually smaller than the ones I use now :o
love mand xxx :)
Oh by the way Swizzy, I just thought I'd give a fan a try, so I've just been and put one in there ;)

Hey there, Mand. How goes it?
Garden's looking lovely, keep up the great work. I wouldn't be too afraid of the leaf discoloration unless it gets any worse, but identifying the possible problem is always a good thing. Again, though, nothing too serious to worry about -- my own plant started out kind of odd; discolorations, droopy leaves, and a couple deformities. In fact, your plants look better than mine did.
All in all, I say you're doing a wonderful job. Keep it up.
Marc Benson
03-27-2006, 01:33 PM
Poor little Runty! :sadcrying
Only thing I'll say about the fan is that it'll dry them out quicker, so you need to watch that. But from everything I've seen Mand you've never had a problem with the plants to warrant worrying about their stems being stronger than they ever have. I had fans in the room going at all times but it was only to control the heat. Keep the air moving around a little. But it was in a far smaller area than what you're using.
As far as another 'problem' with this grow? If you've done well with most other grows, and all of a sudden you're having some problems with the last few, I'd be thinking something in your compost if everything else is the same. Makes no sense why you'd be having problems if everything was exactly the same. Which suggests that something isn't. If the water's the same. Room is the same. Lights are the same. It seems that the only variable might be the dirt they're in. I can see where if you throw just about anything in there that would degrade down that some things probably aren't the ultimate growing substrate for plants. I don't know what those might be unless they were acidic, such as orange peels, grapefruit peels, tomatos, stuff like that. If they're changing the pH of the soil then that could be part of the problem.
Or how about your heater? If that's no doubt sucking oxygen out of the room, which is has to be, and also probably kicking out some fumes, that might be something to look at also.
Just brain stormin' Mand! I for sure don't have all the answers.
You have a nice day.
Marc
Hello Kush :) , Oh dear love I hope you're right, I'm affraid I'm having one of my "This growing lark is just too much hassel" days to day :o
I'm not at work today but I've so much to do at around the house and with growroom troubles as well, makes me feel like having a smoke and putting my feet up and saying "stuff it all" :o
Ah Marc :), I have wondered about every possible thing that could be causing recent troubles
Anyway since being on these boards I have done one perfectly average grow, when I had the new bulbs, then the next one was bellow average in quantity due to me keep fiddling around with the lights because of droopy leaves. Then the last grow was abandoned due to circumstances outside my control.
Yes Marc everything is the same so they should grow the same ............ but their not, they are being very "awkward little monkeys" :( .
As for the compost, I think it is ok, however when re-potting I did run out, so rather than mess about with a soggy wet compost heap the three at the back are actually in some Levingtons compost from the garden centre, so I'm keeping my eye on any differences.
Oh the fumes from the heater were quite "nasty", if I went in there with the door closed it made me feel quite "dizzy" after a few mins :o . However it's off at the moment because the weather has gone really very mild.
I don't know Marc, last week it was "Brass monkey weather" and this week it's really quite tropical in the growroom
Anyway I'm really "up to the neck in work here today" (just posting whilst having tea), so I'll just upload a few pics of the worst affected plants ;)
Hmmm I never know if it's affected or effected :o
Thanks guys ........................... love mand xxx:)

Hey mand, hmm I cant really help you with the rusty leaves... although I have had something that looked similar on Fiona, and a quick water with some Epsom salts cleared it up. You can get them from any chemist (I dont think a Tesco/Sainsburys etc chemist would do them though) for a couple of quid, and its quite a large tub. They clear up constipation aswell, if that interests you :p :D
Anyway, Ive been thinking about leaving the males in with the female Lows because I wanna stockpile some seeds up... and if I manage to get some males and females outta this grow, would you like some seeds? The potency wont be anything like that of... er... whatever strain it is youre growing now, but its a fun dinky little plant. Also gives you the opportunity to make some crosses if you want, although LR crosses do have a tendency to turn hermie pretty easily...
Anyways, just say if youre interested in some seeds and Ill pop some in the post when they develop. Dont worry about p+p, ittl be all of 50 pence anyway!
Good luck with the grow, although I really dont think you need it... and about the toyboy idea, what about the old man with the camera fetish? :p

Hi Mand,
I'm doing well. I've been enjoying some very good homegrown lately. :stoned:
Been reading your posts and looking at you pictures. Plants seem to be growing well except for the discoloration in the leaves. I will be interested in seeing how they progress over the next several weeks. If it was because of the light being to close and you've adjusted it the new growth should not show the same effect. This would be good. Hope this is the case.
Cool fan Mand, way to go. ;) You'll be able to use it to keep the light and the tops of your plants cool during flowering.
Since your still using a heater, I'm wondering what the over night temperature is? Come on, you've posted the obvious ones.
Hope your day is going well.
Hello Swizzy :), Firstly thankyou for the very kind offer of seeds but I'm ok for them, I have a couple of new packets of my usual Skunk#1 .................. however I really do appreciate the offer :)
As for the Epsom salts, I might as well give them a go if there isn't any improvment soon. Don't need them for constipation though, there's no problem there ;)
Hello alchemiser :) The pics ................ I took them . I'm very hit and miss when it comes to taking photo's, I delete more than I keep I'm affraid :o
The compost was prehaps a little damper than I would have liked, but it has been a struggle to dry it out with all the rain we have been having. Also I ran short and three of the pots have got a bit of Levingtons from the garden centre in them, mind you that is a good thing really because I have two types of compost and the "rusty" problem is on plants in all pots, so I can prehaps eliminate compost deficancies ?.
Hello Happy :), well there on day nineteen (I think), so the growth is about average, apart from "little runty" ............. but there's always a runt in every grow :o
At first I thought they were just "frazzled" but like you say that wouldn't continue on to new growth once the heat problem had been addressed ...................... to be honest "Happy" I'm absolutely "stumped", I haven't a clue what's wrong  . I even had a look in my little book and that identified a possible cause as "Potassium" deficancy, but I just find that difficult to believe because everything is the same as usual and I have never had this type of problem before :o
The temperature, well it's running about 75f in the day and when the light is off I think it tends to drop to around the mid 60's at night, depending how cold the weather is outside.
I'll just post some pics from this morning (day nineteen) ...................... any help or suggestions as to what is causing the leaf discoloration is very wellcome because I really haven't got a clue ....................... I've been "racking my brains" and I am "totally stumped":o
Oh, the last pic is "little runty", she is still hanging on but struggling :(

Hey Mand. How's it going today?
Your plants look lovely, and the discolorations are nothing to kill yourself over just yet. They could probably be attributed to a magnesium deficiency as Swizzy stated, so some Epsom salt should do the trick. If the leaves start to curl in wards -- maybe twist at the ends -- it's probably just that. Just keep a close eye on them like you've been doing, every thing's going great.

03-30-2006, 10:27 AM
Ok Mand here's the scoop. I think your soil could be suspect. I know you said that you had used some store bought soil for at least 2 plants. How are they doing? Do they show the same discoloration? If not, I would be looking at my compost heap and wondering what was going on.
I use a mixture of a "SuperSoil"+perlite+vermiculite and have always had good results. I use the same mixture with all my house plants. I drains well and is and lets air into the roots well too. I've never been around compost so I don't know what the consistency of it would be like.
As far as water, I just use tap water.
I suppose if I were having a consistant problem I would have to have all of that checked.
Looking at one of your plants with 3 sets of leaves, 2 of the sets have the brown marks on them. The new set doesn't yet and hopefully won't. The plants look healthy, big leaves, ridge stems. There still pretty young.
Mand you might have to get all HighTech on us to figure this one out. I wouldn't put away your thermometer and fan just yet. ;)
If the temperature isn't dropping below the 60's over night, your good there too.
I hope some of this helps.

buck have you not thought about, using black speaker covering and putting it over the door, you could velcro round the door and put it up that way,it would dim the light down and keep the temp from rising as much, just an idea, mand sorry for hijacking your thread ,i deeply apoligise, hope your plants recover, the postman.
 ;) Hello Buk :), Hmmm the heat problem :( ............... I wish I knew what to tell you ????
Sounds like you need a new grow space, somewhere out of the way and un-obtrusive. I notice you said "I just cant have this MH/HPS blazing the light in my eyes every night" ................. it's not in the bedroom is it,: If it is Buk, how do you sleep with that thing glaring away .............
You know Buk I often think this growing lark is just "pain in the arse" (it's alright I can say "arse", it's not really swearing, my Dad used to say it all the time ;) ). . Anyway Buk love, this is one of my posts that says alot about nothing I'm affraid :o . It's all quite a bit of a shame really if it wasn't for the problem I've had these would have been pretty nice looking plants by now :o
Keep at it Mand. A lesser grower would have killed those plants by now. You're going to make it, I have absolutely no doubt about that:thumbsup: .
Nice Mand, I still havent repotted:o I am getting to it as well as to what would be the outcome on the heat prob. For some reason I'm 99% sure it wont work because everything I try doesnt go thru, O'well last shot here goes nothing:o
Hello Buk :) , you sound a bit like me there, always doubting that something is actually going to go right and work :o ................ stick with it Buk, I'm confident you'll sort something out ;)
What if you put an air vent in at the top of the closet, "just thinking outloud here Buk :o". Anyway heat rises so if a vent was put in at the top then maybe that would allow cooler air to be pulled in from the bottom.
I'll just tell a story that gave me that idea :) ...................
I once visted a "Blue John" mine in the peak district of Derbyshire, Blue John is just a blue type of stone that is found nowhere else in the world except for there, it's nothing special but it just looks pretty ;).
Anyway these mines were ventilated very simply, at one shaft the miners used to always keep a fire burning which caused the heat to rise up the shaft but this also caused cool air to be bought in down another entrance and so provided the miners with cool fresh air :)
Now I'm not saying that you should light a fire in the bedroom  but if there was a vent to let out the hot air at the top and a vent to allow the cool air at the bottom ......................... would this be feasible
Hmmm prehaps I'd best shut up :o
Hello Gin :) Thanks for that vote of confidence ;)
I've not cured the problem yet but I think that I have managed to slow it down. I have done everything that may be frowned upon to try and get these plants "back on track" so to speak :o .
Firstly the fan and the thermometer have gone out of there, I've never used them before so why bother now ;).
I re-potted into different compost, prunned them of two nodes each and the bad leaves, sprinkled neat plant food on the top and drenched them to overwatering :o
They are looking better but atill not right yet, so it's just waiting to see how they turn out ;)

been to those mines mand they are cool, that blue stone as you say it aint worth much but it damnn sure looks cool , they have it in most of the shop windows in all the little villages around there as we traveled around derbyshire, buxton, spa, macclesfeild dove holes, and all the little shops had wicked orniments made from this stone, and the growers around that way must love it as they have a fresh water spa in the town centre were they can help themself to mountian stream water with a ph of 6.8 lol buxton water its known all over the world, the postman
had to post that sorry lol.
Hello Dave :) , It's funny how Buk's heat problem reminded me of trips into the peak district :)
I quite often used to go up around the Castleton area with my Mum and Dad on Sunday afternoons for a picnic. We went down the mine were you walked down however I believe there was one that you went underground on a small boat, never did go on that.
I'm showing my age now Dave, but I can remember that on the drive back home I used to persuade my Dad to put top of the pops on radio 1 on. There used to be Slade, Bay City Rollers, David Bowie, all that kind of thing on then and my Dad did nothing but moan about the so called music and the "long haired wierdos" in the charts :)
Oh and when we got to the town of Bakewell, there always seemed to be a cricket match on which my Dad used to make us stop for and watch ................. I was so bored, I've never liked or even understood cricket :o .
I realise now though that they were prehaps the happiest days of my life, young (teenager ;) ), innocent (well innocent-ish :o ) and not a care in the world ;) .

Ah Sid :) . Now there was a boy who had a certain style and class all of his own :) .................. and the ultimate self-destrutive nature as well
Hmmm, the growing up part does "suck" doesn't it :(
Anyway last update for a while, my camera is going off on it's travels again, well why should the kids buy on when they can "borrow" mine :o
Hopefully the discolouration has stopped (I really hope that I don't tempt fate too much by saying that :o ). All the new growth since my little temper tantrum with them seems to be coming along clear and if they carry on behaving then I should be "pinching them in about a weeks time.
The first pic just shows a little oddity the grouping has eleven leaves, I've never had that before, also the last pic is the little runt that seems to be "picking up" a bit ................. well at least she is holding her own ;)

Yes, they do look a little better now than prior to you cleaning them up. Great job, Mand. You're making a believer out of me. :)
I see you also mentioned something about pinching, which was the most immediate thing to catch my attention. I hope they shape up in the way you intend so you can do just that -- the pinching I mean. :)
..The first pic just shows a little oddity the grouping has eleven leaves, I've never had that before, also the last pic is the little runt that seems to be "picking up" a bit ................. well at least she is holding her own ;)..
Yes, that is a little oddity, but nothing to worry about. Consider those extra leaves an advantage to those plants without them; they provide that much more photosynthetic potential to the plant.
And the runt! Every runt that I've ever had turned out to be a very healthy female in the end, so I wish the same for you.

Hello gin4dub :) Thankyou ;) ........................... I don't like to say anything and tempt fate but the discolouration seems to have stopped.
I also must say that I do like these seeds (Dutch Passion), if this lots goes on ok then I will try some more next time. I'll see if they have any Durban Poision or Afghani ;)
Hello SkillzRemix :) well at my age I need all the support I can get ;) .................. you know gravity always wins in the end :o
Take no notice love, just my attempt at a bit of late night humor :o
Thanks love nice to hear from you :)
Hello Kush :) Yes I think I'll let them grow one more node each and then pinch them. After I'll just see how they go for a while and then induce them.
To be honest I wanted to give his grow a long vegitive growth and maybe give them a couple of pinchings/toppings. However I think I may get them to flowering a bit sooner. I'm affraid the "decent bud" situation here is starting to look a bit low :o . I have plenty of forced dried resinous leaves and small buds, they are adequately potent but they are also "eerrgghh" to smoke ............... very harsh:o. It looks like I might have to cut down the time on the veggitive growth.
The funny leaves, there healthy enough so it's fine. It does look wierd though it has eight leaves and then three more underneath.
Isn't that just true about the runts, they are always female, I can't actually remember every having one a boy.
You know a few days ago I nearly trew her out because she looked so poorly, but now she's really looking ok .................. still very small but ok :)
Hello Hungry :) I hope you're right ;) , I really fancy a different smoke for a change. Just lately all I ever seem to grow is Sensi Skunk or Skunk#1.
Also I had to abandon the last grow and the one before that wasn't very good quantity wise, so something half decent would be nice this time :o
Thanks guys ....................... love mand xxx:)

oh mand you poor thing :(
Having to smoke forced dried small buds & leaves no matter how resinous is not nice! surprised there's not been any offers to send you some quality budz.
Guess i'm just old fashioned in thinking romantic proposals should be sent with flowers from all your suitors on here ;)
Glad to know your babes have picked up a liittle  the quicker these WW are flowered the sooner you can start something new.
Varitey is the spice of life & weed is it's herb. :smokin:
Take care mand, hope the smoke situation picks up soon.

Hello mand, first off I would like to tell you that your plants look very healthy and I would love to have the very same ones. However, I have 4 Nirvana white widow growing right now. I was just curious, have you had any of the stems turn purple on you yet? Mine started at the bottom of the plant and is now just shoprt of turning all of my leaves a nice light hugh purple. Have you noticed anything like this on yours?
Good luck on keeping those babies alive! And I would go with pinching/topping your plants at least twice before they go outdoors, I always found it beneficial.

hey mand iam back, lol
Hello alchemiser :) I know they are quite horrible to smoke :( . I always take all the small buds that aren't worth hanging up to dry and the resinous leaves, cut them up and place them on top of the ballast in a cardboard shoe box to dry them. They usually dry within 2-4 days (depending on the amount), but they really are eerrgghhh to smoke :( .
Eeeerrrr  "Romantic proposals" , that reminds I have a wedding to go too in June. After the experience of my own marriage I have a little bit of a phobia about the whole thing. It offically ended over fourteen years ago but I still cringe to think about it :o
Hello MEME :), No I've not had any purple stems, I had the problem of discolouration and the dying off last week but I hope that little problem is cured now (fingers crossed it is ;) ).
Oh there not going outdoors, I will just put the HPS bulb in there when it comes to inducing flowering.
Although I will only pinch them once, I would really like the time to be able to do it a few times and make them more into a "bush" effect. However due to the bud situation I have been forced to make this grow a bit quicker than I would have liked too :o .
Hello Mobay :) Thankyou for stopping by, it's always very nice to hear from you :)
Update ................. well the camera has come back early so I'll just upload a couple of pics.
The health of the plants has improved no end, there not perfect but they are ok and I'm happy enough with them.
They will be four weeks old tomorrow and they would look a bit better if I hadn't had been forced to remove so many of the dying leaves :o
The heater has been put back on as well due to the temperature dropping again, we have had a couple of frosts the last few nights.

Hey Mand, It looks as my box might actually work after all:eek: I was surprised but that means more grows to come hopefully ;) I also managed to repot 5 out of 8:eek: I'm on a roll:D I'm actually taking care of them and not giving up as I thought I was going too:D I thought they were gona get root bound but when I repotted the 5 none of them showed the roots on the sides only a little at the bottom. That just goes to show "me" how the CFLs compare to the MH, my last grow at this time I was already a few days into flowering but I'm going to give them maybe a week or 2 untill I go into flower;) Just some insight on my grow hope u dont mind:o Anyways Mand all is going well for you which I just read except for the shortage on the stash but dont worry ur nice buds should be here in now time:D
So are you going to do another Dutch Passion seeds grow or are you throwing in those White Widows for the next 1?

"...I have been forced to make this grow a bit quicker than I would have liked too."
I could've bet ya a bazillion dollars that you'd hack it down before it's time Mand! Suggestion. Why don't you just harvest the majority of them (when you just can't take it anymore :D ), and leave a couple to fend for themselves? Even with just the little light they'd get from the MH when you're growing new babies they'd still fill out more so give ya more...stuff. Just a thought.
Hello Buk :) Don't even think about giving up, you know what I said last time, I'll be over here and slap you're legs if you do ;)
I'm pleased that something has worked out ok, you did a super job last time so you really must keep growing.
I know what you mean though, when you keep trying you're best to make something work and it doesn't, it really makes you feel like throwing the towel in :o
Do I mind you teling me how the grows going ? ..................... absolutely not, I'm missing the regular updates on you're journal.
What to grow next time ? ....................... I'm honestly not sure Buk, I have plenty of Skunk#1 seeds in but I'm a little bored with growing them so I'll just see what's around when the time comes ;)
Hello Marc :) Hmmm a bazillion dollars ................ I think you would be making a safe bet there love :o .
Not to worry Marc, I can promise I wont harvest them untill I think there at their peak ;)
Anyway Marc, you'll have to excuse any incoherence in this post love, I've had a hell of a day, not been at work but I wish I had. I've been running round and not got a thing acomplished ................... just one of those days :o . Mind you I've had a little smoke and a couple of my usual drinks and now it's relaxing time :)
You know Marc my youngest is off to Amsterdam next month with a group of his friends, anyway I said to them "Oh can I come", well my lad said straight away "no you can't" but all of his mates said "yes" they would love that ;) .
You should have seen my lads face, the thought of going to Amsterdam with his Mum :) ................. I was only "winding" him up ;) .
Mind you I had a some Mothers day cards of a couple of them signed to our other Mum ................... well I always end up cooking them dinner when there around here
Well a little update ................. I know I said I was going to pinch the plants when they got past the next node, well I changed my mind and did them earlier :o
I tried to get some pics with my fingernails actually nipping them but they went all out of focus and looked rubbish.
So I'll just load a few after pics of the pinched plants.

Hello Gin :) I'm trying love, honest ;)
An update ..................... Well four weeks and two days and they are starting to look like Cannabis plants :). I always think it takes a while before they look "proper" :o .
The weather has turned from Spring into Winter again, snow, sleet and quite cold, so I have the heater running all the time.
The only plant that hasn't been pinched is "litte runty", but she is starting to get swamped by the rest.
The leaves are uneven and very different from what I am used too, but I think they look more "natural" ;)
Oh last one is "little runty".

Looking good Mand! Hey take Runty and put something under 'her' to get her a little closer to the light. I bet she catches up if you do.
Hello Dave :) It's ok to say "arse", I say it quite a lot. Well I say a lot worse than that but I try to avoid it on here or in public :o .
I say Dave if you are a postman I bet you "knew about it" this morning, we had a pretty severe frost here, I was hoping that I could put away the heater last week but winter seems to have returned :(
Hello Buk :), What am I cooking ? :)
To be honest Buk I am actually a reasonable cook even if I do say so myself :o . Mostly traditional things and if it's with chips that's even better ;) .
Although I do make a pretty good curry;) .
I know what you mean about posting without pics, I'm that used to adding them now I think a post looks "naked" without them :o .
Hmmm Amsterdam, I've been a couple of times and to be honest even if there wasn't any weed there, it's would still be a very intresting city. Also it's quite small as cities go, so it's very easy to get around;) . If ever you get the chance to go Buk, go in Summer, it's absolutely freezing in Winter :o .
I'm not sure when to start flowering as of yet. I was hoping to let them have a good vegitive growth but the bud situation here is encouraging me to start the inducing soon ..................... I'm just seeing how they go ;) .
Helo Marc :), Now did you read my mind or did I read your's. I put a brick under the "runt's" pot earlier today to get her level with the others :)
You know I was just comparing the pics of how she looked to how she is now.............. I didn't think she was going to last at all but I'm pleased she has proved me wrong ;)

I love Runty! If there was one I'd let grow Mand it would be her. You owe it to her!
Hello Dave :), "old fat horny housewifes" you know that just reminds me of a woman at work. She's left now but everyone used to call her "The Water Buffalo", why? .............. well she was quite large but she used to have a multiple chin, not double or triple but a real humungus wobbly one, that used to jiggle about when she walked :o.
Anyway she was always going on about how her posttie used to fancy her and was always trying to "chat her up" ...................... but like everyone said "she had a pretty active imagination ;).
Hello Marc :), Well "Runty" is the only one that hasn't been "pinched", I didn't want too stunt her growth anymore :o .
Tell you what though Marc, I am a little bit concerned at having so few plants in there, normally I have twice the amount............................ but then again I suppose there will be more light to go around ;) .
I'll just post a pic of "Runty" in her new elevated position :)

Hello Buk :) , I'm not sure exactely, I would say they are between 12 - 15 inches. I am trying to wait untill the smallest one gets to about 18 inches before inducing............... well apart from "runty" shes just going to have to go along with the others.
Although I do think they look a little "sparce" due to them having nodes cut off the other week:o

Hello Hungry, and thankyou :)
I mentioned this before on another thread, quite a while ago though. I have no sense of smell whatsoever, never ever had any at all. So I honestly have no idea what cannabis smells like, I can kinda taste it in the air in the growroom when the plants are in full bud though.
According to my kids, they say it smell's like a cats been in the house and poo'ed the morning after I have had a smoke :o.
They would say that because they would really like to see me pack in smoking it :( , but after 26 years they have no chance ;)

Hello Marc :) , hmmm is that because of my dazzling personalty, stunning good looks or my persisitant growing :o .
The first one is the most important then the second one doesn't hurt! You're new avatar is great! Why don't you e-mail a larger version of that to my e-mail address. Please?
I hear ya about the tech stuff Mand. I've been thinking of just throwing a few seeds out in a forest I hike in regularly and let nature take it's course. Way easier. Way less hassle.
Have a good one and have fun with your grandson!
Marc
Hello LV :).
That's just how it goes, somtimes they just grow and never need any interference and yet other times they just seem to want to be awkward.
I know how it feels when you put time and effort into to them and at the end the results are not what we wanted them to be :( .
I have to say though Lv, I think you have it all "sussed out" now though.
Thankyou :)
Hello Marc :) , If I had a larger copy I would post it, but I'm affraid I always shrink them for avatars.
I only use the digital camera for pics that aren't important, that I'm not going to keep. I did try to take photo's with it but when I tried to print them off, the results were very poor because the printer is just a cheapy that came with the computer. So I still use a disposable camera for anything of value.
Plus I am prehaps one of the most least technically minded people there is :o ..
I'll sort out some though and post a few ;) .
Having said that though Marc, I may not be technically minded but I do have a good head for spotting the bargains ..................... the ones to make money on ;). The reason for this is I have quite simply had to have, otherwise I would have had to get by on the welfare state over the years.
Even now I still like to "keep my hand in". I was at a charity auction a few weeks ago and spotted a Nepoleon Hat clock, dating early 1920's, with a lovely Westminster chime. Well I paid £30 for it and I know that if I put into auction at one of the general sales it should fetch around the £150 mark :) .
So I suppose what we lack in one area, we make up for in others ;)
Update ................... Well they are five weeks and one day old now, and I am very tempted to start the flowering, simply beacause they are going quite well and look about ready. However I'm trying to give them a little longer ........................ to be honest I'm not sure what to do just yet :o

Hey Mand, They say that as soon as the plant shows alternating nodes that it's mature and ready to flower. You should wait till then. Don't know if piching them off has an effect on alternating nodes happening but I would think it would. Make it take longer? Anyone know?

Damn!, a beautiful woman growing stunning plants... match made in heaven
Nice grow!
:( Hello and thankyou guys :).
Well I know I said on a post yesterday that I was going to wait another week before switching to 12/12 and the HPS ................ well I changed my mind and tonight I reduced the hours and put the HPS bulb in :o .
Now Marc, don't worry, just have a little faith in me, I really do know what I'm doing ..................... honest ;) . The thing is I have bought everything forward partly due to the bud situation but also due to the fact that the plants look ready.
Normally I always think that a photo of the grow makes the plants look a little better than they actually are. However with this grow the pics dont do them justice. Even though there seems to be no conformity in the leaves, I like these plants :) . Within five weeks and a few problems they have grown better than I have seen in a long time and with inducing at their present stage I am hoping to get the idea height when it comes to harvesting.
Also I spotted preflowers today, two females and one male, whilst still on there vegitive growth.
I've never started flowering as soon as five weeks before, but I am hopefull they will be fine :o .
Oh, and if they start "drooping" like the last two grows have when switching to HPS and 12/12, then they can just "droop". I am sticking with the HPS because using the MH last time cost a good weight in buds :( .
Thankyou, I really do appreciate the kind comments :)

Hello Rekap :) . How are you ? ..................... Well I hope :)
Update ........................ Well I have noticed three plants with female preflowers and two with male preflowers. I have been trying to get pics of these for what seems like ages but in the end I only have one pic that can be recongised as having female preflowers ................ I was starting to get quite fed up with the camera :o.
Anyway the first pic is the one showing the preflowers on and the rest are just general pics showing the plants on day one of the 12/12 cycle.

Hey there, Mand. How's it going? I see you changed your avatar -- a true radiance of beauty! :)
I haven't been watching this journal as much as I should have! But I'm glad I managed to catch it before you progressed too far, and I must say I like where it's headed.
Have you any plans for the males -- possibly as studs for a few dozen seeds? Although I have a feeling you may not have much use for seeded females when you're looking for something to smoke, which is understandable. I know if I wanted weed full of seeds I'd buy a fifty sack from my dealer. LoL.
I love how the pinching turned out, by the way. Great job on that.
The drooping you mentioned in the last post is quite depressing to me -- not your plants, my own. When I went from high kelvin light to lower kelvin light, the leaves drooped. But no worries -- the plants benefit greatly from the HPS during flowering, and I'm sure, despite the drooping, that the plants are happy.
Keep up with the good work, Mand. Many blessings.

Hey,lookin good!
I topped mine and flowered at about the same time as you. I have a bunch of 2 headed monsters and a few bushes. Depending on the strain. But most just grew twice as tall from the split and grew 2-4 big tops .It worked really well for the indica dominant strains that didn't branch out. Because they would end up with up to four tops instead of 1. But make sure you stake them up if they need it. Because they will be top heavy.
Hello britewire :) Thankyou ;).
I'm affraid once I start doing a journal I have to always find time to write replies and do a little update ...................... well it gives me an excuse to just "put my feet" up for a while ;)
Hello Kush :).
I'm affraid I just bin the males once I am sure of their gender. I do sometimes think about trying to make a little Hash Oil out of them, but to be honest I just never seem to get around to it :o.
The "Pinching". I would have liked to have done a few pinches, but the current bud situation has kinda "forced my hand a little", so I decided to start flowering. Also it should give me time to do two Summer crops by starting them now .............. if everything goes ok that is :o.
Oh the "drooping" :(. Well I have had them drooping on the last two grows and I honestly have no idea why they did it. So I'm just hoping and keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't happen with this lot ................. and if it does I'm hoping it isn't too bad :o.
Oh and the avatar Kush, like I always tell people, it's all slap and light :o.
Hello Jdog :) To be honest I don't think they will need support, it would be nice if they did ;).
It's like I always say Jdog, I am usually good at growing leaves, but not so hot at growing large quantities of buds :o.
Anyway I am keeping my fingers and everything else crossed that this crop does ok. I could really do with a decent one, beecause the last one had to be abandoned and the one before that was a little dissapointing in terms of bud quantity.
Update .................... Well I have been trying to get pics of the preflowers again, took dozens of them and not one of them turned out any good. They were all blurry and pretty naff:( .
The two pics here are first a general veiw of what it looks like in the growroom at present. The second is a comparison of "little runty" and one of her sisters. I say sister because she is showing female preflowers ;).
Thankyou very much guys .............................. love mand xxx :)

I do forget and loose track of time when growing :o.
Of course I will love :), I am really trying to remember with this grow ..................... and they have been growing five weeks and four days, and flowering for two days now.

Why are you vegging so long? I bet you can have a better overall yield when you use a 2 or 3 week veg and then flower
here's an example of a 2 week veg.

eh, im hanging in there, sadly i dont have a grow at the moment do to moving :( soon enough though....OG Kush on the way
keep it up mand :p
Hello britewire :). They are quite amazing plants, a very nice grow indeed;).
I'm affraid mine would never be mature enough to start flowering at two weeks, to be honest starting this lot at five weeks is the earliest I have ever started flowering.
Hello Dave :). Hmmm the rust problem:(. It seems to me that there is something wrong with the compost heap, so when the weather becomes drier, I'll have to see about getting it cleared and starting a new one.
It's a shame really I've had that heap there for quite a few years and never had any problems before ................ Ah well never mind :o
Hello busteruk :). I like to just keep the growing very simple, I really have no intrest in anything technical or complicated.
Also I don't like to interfere with then too much, I'm quite happy just to go in there now and again and just sprinkle a bit of water on them. It's just when I get any problems, then I start thinking "it's just too much hassel":o .
Hello Rekap :).Oh dear "moving", I absolutely hate moving. I did so much moving houses when I was married .................... but that really is a different story, makes me "shudder" to even think about it :o.
Anyway Rekap, I hope you're moving somewhere nice, with plenty of room for a new growroom ;).
Anyway the plants will be six weeks old tomorrow and there on the fourth day of flowering. I didn't go into the growroom yesterday, I was busy doing little jobs around the house. However I took a pic this morning although nothing has changed yet.
There is some activity on the flowering front, I spotted a few potental males and also a few females but not sure yet what the final score will be ????

Sorry I'm always forgetting that you start counting the days growing from seed. I have the luxury to grow from clone, so it's not quite accurate. Next grow I'm starting are 9 Jock Horror in Scrogg from seed. I'll have too see howlong it takes untill I find them large enough for flowering.
Hello turtle :). Well I've been looking at you're new grow thread love and what can I say ............... blimey, you've really gone well over my head, I'm totally lost :o.
Although having said that, I must say it's so really good to someone who enjoy's all the technical side of growing.
Keep up the good work Turtle love and I'll try and follow what you're doing in my own way :).
Hello britewire :), Ah yes "cloning". I've never tried it with cannabis plants but I have done with house plants in the past.
What I really like about it, is that you know what you're getting, the quality of the mother plant and females:).
Once again britewire, you're doing a very impressive grow, lovely looking plants ;).
I'll just add a little update on the grow ............................ Well just before the light went out this evening I went in the growroom and had a pretty good check over them.
Anyway out of the nine plants, one is definetely male, six are showing female pitsels and two others including the runt are not showing anything yet.
One thing I am quite pleased about is that the one male is my least favourite plant, there is something about it it that doesn't quite match up to the others.
At the end of the day if I end up with six females out of nine plants, then I'll be happy with that :)

Well Mand, you've definitely done well for yourself with this grow so far. :)
Six females isn't bad, and you could potentially have two others. I'm still hoping the runt turns out a female so it can out yield it's sisters.
Although, if it's a male it wouldn't be all bad -- you could preserve it's short stature phenotype by selectively pollinating a small bud on one of the equally dwarfed females, or one exhibiting high yield. You'd have better chances at scoring plants with short genetics for the next grow in that event.
Anyway. Keep up the good work and don't stop doing what you're doing. :D
Hello britewire :) , If ever I clone I'll be sure to ask ;) ...................... Thanks :) .
Hello Kush :) Hmmm I just called on to do an update on the flowering situation. To be honest there aren't enough hours in the day just lately, so I haven't had much time for the plants, just a quick check once a day.
Well in the last post I said there were six females, anyway one of those with female preflowers devolped into a male. Also there was one other male as well.
So now in total there are I believe six females including the runt.
I've had to check and work this out, they are six weeks and four days old and one week and 4 days into flowering ........................ I think :o.

Busy life, eh? I know the feeling -- that there aren't enough hours in a day to find the time to do various other things, cannabis related and otherwise. I like to think that when I'm much older, and retired from any work, that I'll have the time to do these sort of things on an almost full time schedule.
So, it turned hermaphrodite on you, or the 'balls' you saw resembled female preflowers but as they filled out they became more recognizable? Whatever the case, I'm sorry. :(
At least you've got the others. And the runt; she'll do nicely. Still hoping to see her out yield the larger plants, though!
Keep on growing on, Mand. And Hay-Sues Bless.
Hello Kush :).
I'm affraid that "time" really is a bit of problem just lately, but that's how it just seems to be every now and again:o.
The one which developed into a male did have just the one female preflower on it. However when it started full flowering it just grew male flowers.
Anyway the six remaining plants have started full flowering now. They are about seven weeks old and are two weeks on the 12/12 cycle.
I'll just upload a few pics from this morning ................... :)

Those plants are looking better every time I see them. Good work, Mand!
Perhaps the one that produced a false female preflower was a gender bender? LoL. Whatever the case you did the right thing in ridding yourself of it. I don't know how you feel, but I always feel terrible killing off a plant I witnessed grow from seed, even a male one. :(
The remaining ones should fill out nicely -- looks like the one in the third picture is already on the ball.
Hello Grim :) I do so hope that the drooping doesn't start up. It was down to what I always suspected, the conditions in the growroom, Inparticularly the tempreture and humidity.
Anyway Grim I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't start again;) .
Hello Dave :) The weather has improved no end this last couple of week;).
I heard on the weather forecast that it is going to get quite warm over the next few days, so if it does I'll be able to leave the growroom door open for a while, which will be good as it will get a little fresh air in there.
Hello Buk :) Oh dear it's all a little embarrasing love, because I didn't give them the extra vegging time like I planned:o . Infact Buk these plants were given the shortest veggitive growth time I have ever done, five weeks.
I've not been able to get online very much at all just lately Buk, but I know that you have had the hermie problems and have took clones off the two remaining plants. Trust me Buk, it's not anything that you have done wrong with them, it's simply down to the heat problems you have.
You and I both know that you can grow super plants, so if possible try to get the heat down or even better find somewhere different to grow, somewhere that can be ventilated more easily.
Just keep at it Buk and you'll do fine;)
Well it's a little difficult to do another update so soon :o. So I'll just upload a few pics from this morning. they are just pics showing the start of the full flowering, they have been on 12/12 just over two weeks now.

Hello Kush :), Blimey you sneaked that post in ;) :)
Well just by going on what I've read in the past, preflowers on veggitive growth are not truely 100% reliable. This is only what I have read but if a female preflower develops before full flowering then there is an excellent chance the plant will be female but there is still a remote chance it will not. I guess that plant was just one of the remote chance ones.
Hmmm to be honest, I never feel bad about hacking plants down:o. As for the males I'm always glad to get rid of them and make a bit more space. However having said that I don't want to make too much space in there ;) .
I am keeping my fingers crossed with this grow though Kush, I really could do with a decent harvest. I'm not bothered about a massive one, just a few good ounces and I'll be happy:) .

Lookin good mand,
Maybe you should think of removing the little buds underneath the plants (in about 2 weeks time). All combined they suck a lot of energy out of the plant and don't yield much.
Maybe a tip,
Looks like a strong plant so in 2 weeks time try lenghtening the light cycle half an hour or so. Do it step by step so they plant won't stress back into veg. I always do that and It really improves the yield.

Mand, if you are interested in some Lowryders Ill be more than happy to send you a few seeds. Pollinated a female and Im gonna get so many seeds from this. The other plant that I had was pollinated aswell, and quick dried some bud and literally every calyx (I think theyre calyxs?) was seeded.
Theyre a very good plant for lazy growers like us Mand!
Hello Swizzy :) , Thankyou for the very kind offer, that's really so very good of you and I do appreciate it :)
However I'm fine for seeds love, infact I probably have a few more than I need, so I reckon they will be lasting me for quite a while yet.
I'm planning on doing another grow for the Summer straight after this one and then hopefully have a break from growing over the Winter untill next Spring.

When I have been on though I have always kept a look out for you but you just never seem to be around. I hope everything is ok that end and I'll keep a lookout for you :)

Hello Dave :) I love having a garden, I spent all the "married" years without one. When I was little I used to spend so much time with my grandad, he loved gardening he had the most fabulous garden and allotment.
I know for a fact if he had turned his hand to growing cannabis it would have been something very special. He wouldn't have done that though and if he knows now about my growing he would certainly frown upon it, not so much the items I grow but the fact of using artifical lights for the growing. He was a great believer in everything had to be grown the natural way ;).
Hello cactusman :) Hmmm I think I'll have a few Vodka and oranges instead of the pints :o
Don't get me wrong love I like the odd beer now and again, but it tends not too like me very much. Just a couple of bottles and I get the most awful hangovers.
A glass of vodka, lots of ice, with just a tiny bit of orange to give it some colour, goes hand in hand with a nice smoke ;)
Hello Latewood :), Well sometimes I know what I'm doing but sometimes I haven't a clue :o
Always so very good to hear from you love :).
Hey I've nearly been on here for a year now  ..................... I have to admit I was very very nervous about posting at first, but I'm pleased I did :)
Update .............. Well they are about 28 days into flowering, more or less anyway.
The flowering is coming along quite nicely, I think if every thing keeps going as it is and no problems arise it should be a decent average sized harvest for me. Maybe the harvest will be around the end of June which will give me enough time to get one more grow in before Winter gets here.
I'll upload various pics showing all different aspects of the grow, the first one however is showing what the next grow will be. I'm going to try some Dutch Passion Orange Bud, they are feminised seeds so what I'm planning on doing is spliting them into two grows and growing five each time. Also I'm planning on buying five cheap buckets to grow in which will hopefully give the plants a little more room ;)

Well I did my little test last night. ......... I take a ciggy, wipe it around in the resin a little and then smoke it. I look upon it as my version of wine tasting. Anyway it definetely shows promise, I think it's going to be very potent :).
I have to admit that this is the first grow I have done in a long time that I am actually enjoying doing. The last few have been nothing but "pains in the arse" :( .
This one is how growing should be, I go in there once a day and sprinkle a bit of water on them if they need it, and that's it they are left to their own devices then ;)
I'm unsure about the amount it will produce, the veggitation is very thick and preventing a lot of light getting through. However I'm confident there will be a few decent ounces and the quality I think will be something pretty nice..................... just have to wait and see.
They are just over four weeks into flowering, so they probably have another 4/5/6 ??? weeks to go yet before harvest.

damn your out doing youself there, keep it up
Hello Kush, Grim, Mobay :) ........... Thankyou for the encouraging words guy's. There very much appreciated I can assure you :) .
This grow is comming along as a decent average grow, one of the reasons I was very unsure about doing another grow thread is because the last couple of grows were very dissapointing to me. Also quite embarrasing :o.
They are about four and a half weeks into flowering, so they about half way now give or take a week;). I'm seriously considering buying some bigger buckets and re-potting them because the roots are so extensive it's become virtually impossible to stick my finger in the compost to test how dry it is.
I have quite a few different pics so I'll just upload them ;)
Thankyou all ................ love mand xxx:)
A few more :)
Oh and can I just ask for anyone's thought's on re-potting at this stage of flowering .............. would it be benifcial or would it take energy away from the bud development and put it into root development instead ?????
Thanks ............ love mand xxx:)
It may put the plants into shock and then they would require a recovery period. I'd ride it out and know for the next time.
By the way, I wish my plants looked like yours.. wow

Hi Mand!
Your ol' long lost bud here. How you doing? Hope all is going very well for you.
Repotting. I would think that the root ball is about as developed as it's going to get. My thoughts would be to make sure they're getting enough nutes/water and leave them where they are. But are you doing these any differently than you've done in your past grows? Why more roots this time?
Marc
P.S. Amazing how well these plants look for how bad they were doing at frist with all the browning leaves. And to think you almost trashed them! How's Runty?

They look smashing Mand! I hope to know half as much as you do about growing before I'm an old maid!
Good to see you growing up a storm!
Hello dion :) Thankyou for you're reply love, but I'm affraid by the time I read it I had already re-potted :o .
Hopefully there hasn't been any adverse effect on them. I bought some large household buckets, and transplanted them as quickly as possible in a area where the light was pretty dim so as to avoid any light exsposure to the roots.
Hello Marc :), to be honest love I've been feeling a bit poorly just lately. Nothing much just a bit of an upset tummy, must have eaten something that didn't agree with me :o .
Hmmm you know me I'll ask a question but still do it anyway :o , but as for more roots ? , the only thing I can think of is because I'm using different seeds ........ maybe that's it ???
Now "Runty", what a strange plant that is, I've never grown one like her before. I'll post some pics and the last two are of her. She does have quite a few buds but they are all very tightly packed in against the main stem and because of her "build" the leaves are stopping any light getting to them. Really I should have taken advice off "Kush" quite a few posts back and bent her over, but room is a bit of a problem so I just left her.
So I think that because she has buds that aren't as mature has the others, when all the rest have been harvested I might try to lean her over a bit if that is possible ;).
Still looking on the messenger for you Marc when I'm on but just not seeing you there, hope to catch you soon :).
Hello LV :) I have absolutely no doubt that you already know much more than I do :). The truth of the matter is I'm just a very lazy grower, if I can just leave them to it and grow as cheap as possible then I'm happy .
I'm sorry I haven't visted you're grow thread recently but I've just not got on here much just lately, I'll get sometime later tonight though;) .
Update ............. Well the plants are in bigger buckets now because of the roots, they were so packed into my normal sized posts it was impossible to poke my finger in the compost.
They are coming up to five weeks of flowering and the plants are just over ten weeks old. I would like to see a little more bud devolpment but they have another 4 -5 weeks to go yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will "thicken out a bit" :o
I'll just post some pics, the last two are of "Runty".

A few more .......... :o

mand i love your threads gal. you have had some intresting problems with this grow.to watch you deal with them as cool as you like is just diffrent class.hope yer bellie gets better.the postman.
Hello Dave :) I honestly thought they weren't going to anything at the begining with the leaves going "rusty", but all they needed was a change of compost.
As for putting them in bigger buckets, they would have been ok but I thought I'd give them a little treat ;)
Anyway Dave I've recently given them a little test again just to try and get some idea of what to expect, just wiped a ciggy in the resin. I have absolutely no doubt at all these will be the most potent I've ever grown, even just a wipe of fresh resin hit home hard. So when the buds are harvested and dried, well I'm looking forward to it :)
Be few more weeks though yet;)
Quantity wise, I'm looking at an average grow which is good enough for me :)

nice work mand. That looks like alot of green to me :} I got some questions if u dont mind.
Do u not believe in mylar or some reflective surface? or mabye just a money thing? I mean, do u think it will effect ur yield alot?
Also is that a large spider web of some kind to the upper left of the picture?
If so, regular spiders dont hurt plants? or do they eat some unwanted insects?
Hello Bob :), I know I always tell people I'm very good at growing leaves but not so hot with the buds :o .
I did have my son paint another outbuilding out in white paint last year to give it some reflective quality but when it come to moving the growroom we found out that the electrics weren't working in there. I keep meaning to get someone to fix them but I still haven't got around to it yet.
As for this growroom, I've never bothered to get it painted or lined with reflective material, it's just one of those things I keep meaning to do but never get round to it .
When I say I'm a lazy grower, I really am honestly:o .
Oh yes, I've seen the spiders web and I've seen the spider (it's gigantic) ........ I'm not very keen on spiders so it's a case of I'll leave it alone and just hope it does the same for me ;), I always leave the door open a bit just in case I have to make a quick exit.
Spiders are very good to have in there, they will eat all the other bugs and things, but it still gives me the creeps :o .

Hi Mand,
Looking good and your macro shot you posted in the Grow Lounge looks pretty good too! Glad you got the camera figured out.
"I always tell people I'm very good at growing leaves but not so hot with the buds"
I can almost bet you that if you let these plants go as long as they needed to go based on trichs and not the pistals/hairs or just how they look that you'd have some huge buds and I bet twice as much when done. But I know you're low on stash so I betcha, a bazillion dollars, they they get hacked before their time. ;) Which is fine. Not hammerin' ya Mand. Just flappin my lips.
LOVE YA!

I agree with marc benson. I think ur yield will be just fine. Unless ur used to 5 pound yields or something crazy :} hehe
Hello Marc :), Oh dear I'm so "hit and miss" with the camera, I really don't know whats going to turn out :o.
To be honest Marc I'm in no rush, and I promise to leave them, well untill I think the time is right ;). The buds are there but the veggitation is pretty thick so the light is not getting through all that well.
Apart from the little problem at the begining this is a much more relaxed grow, it's an average type one much more what I'm used too.
I'm planning to do the next one a little different, try and create a small bush affair. I've got ten femminised Orange Bud seeds, so I'm going to just grow five, keep them low, pinch once when quite small let them go a bit and then pinch again. With only five in there I should have the room to let them spread a little ;) .
Anyway Marc, back to this grow, the seed company say eight weeks flowering but I think prehaps more like nine or ten will be needed.
By the way Marc, things are very busy here at the moment, my daughter and her partner have just bought a new house, they got it cheap but it's a bit "run down" so I'm helping all I can because her baby is due in October and it's all panic stations to get things ready, well liveable at least ;)
Hello kush :), Runty is certainly a strange looking one that's for sure. She does have buds but they are all tightly against the main stem.
I suspect that she take longer than the other ones to reach harvest, also she will be terrible to trim down as well because she is so tightly "packed together".
Oh the spider will stay there Kush, I can promise I'm not going anywhere near it
Hello Buffalo and thankyou :), I've only got 400 watts I'm affraid. It's done quite well though it will be eight years old this October and I'm on my second MH bulb and third HPS bulb. So you can say I've had my moneys worth out of it.
The height ? ................. Well that's a bit of a balancing act really. I would guess about up to a yard. I want it as close as I can but I have to try and get the light to spread over all the growing area. Also I tend to move the plants around every few days so they all get a turn directly under the light.
I'll add a pic so you can see :).
Hello sjacobs and thankyou too :), I always say that growing is easy, well it is untill a problem crops up :o .
Honestly love, if I can grow then anyone can and that's the truth ;).
Hello Bob :) It's looking like an average one, I never weigh it but we are talking about a few good ounces.
I would weigh it this time just to see, I had a really good set of kitchen scales that would measure ounces and grams, but my son decided to see how hard he could press on them, of course he broke them ............. but it's ok he's only twenty three years old
Thakyou guys ......................... love mand xxx:)
Hmmm I just best mention on the pics above the second and the third pics are the same bud but on different camera settings ;)
love mand xxx :)
Hello again :), Sorry for keep posting but I've just had Runty taken outside to try and get pics of her buds. It's impossible to get any decent pics indoors of her because they are very tightly close to the main stem, and to be honest the camera is acting a "pain in the arse" today for some reason  .
Oh the last pic is one of my new friend

P.S. Very nice pic of you Mand.....quite striking i must say
Hello sjacobs :) How long till harvest ? ................. Oh dear it's a bit difficult to tell.
Well they are around five and a half weeks into flowering now, the seed company say eight weeks. So it maybe about three weeks to cutting the first one, prehaps a little bit longer.
I think it's going to be a staggered harvest sjacobs, some seem to be a little more advanced than others, Runty inparticular is much slower than the rest she is only just starting to produce resin, whereas the others have been producing it for quite a while now.
I'll just see how they go ;)
Hello Buffalo :) Wisdom ........ me. Oh dear that's something I've never had said before love :o .
Anyway I don't know much about lights, but I'm sure 1000 watt would make quite a big difference in there ;). I learned what I know about growing from a small book called "A Guide to Growing Marijuana in Cool climates" by Don Irving. It only has about forty odd pages in it but when I started I found it totally invalauble..
Anyway I bought it because the first time I tried to grow, not one seed even germinated :o. So I bought the book follwed the instructions and did my first grow outdoors, I did ok as well just lost a few buds to bud rot because of the damp weather.
Well then I thought I had best try growing indoors, because it was more secure ;). The book had two pages about indoor growing and it reccomended a MH/HPS conversion lamp. So I found a growshop, and told the chap what I wanted, and that was it, I've grown about two to three crops a year since 1998.
Hello busteruk, Thankyou love :) ......... I'm just waiting for the buds to "fatten up" a bit. At least I'm keeping my fingers crossed they do :o .
Nice to hear from you busteruk :)
Hello Bob :) Oh the dammed camera, sometimes it takes really nice pics and others I just can't do a thing with it:(
You know Bob my daughter, she is coming up to twenty five now. She is independent, expecting her second baby in October, just gets on with her life and to be honest I'm very proud of her.
My sons twenty three and twenty one, totallty dependant and absolutely hopeless. They go through life without a care in the world and seem to have a different girlfriend each week. I don't think boys ever grow up
Although I'm still very proud of them as well ;)

Hello Latewood, Tom and Turtle :)
Well I've started a thread where I can throw my little tantrums :o
This isn't the place for that, this is a grow thread were I only concern myself with telling and showing .............. a grow ;)
That's resin Tom, in all honesty the pics don't do them justice I'm affraid. Normally the buds at this stage are coated in resin, but these plants the buds are becoming encased in it.
It may sound a little presumptous of me as there are still quite a few weeks left to harvest, but in my mind the grow is already a sucsess. I know that if anything was to happen now such as hermies, seeds, bud rot or anything of that nature I can cut them and have smokable weed.
At the end of the day that's all that matters ................ :)
Thankyou guys ................... love mand xxx :)

Mand, your plants look AMAZING. I just finished reading the whole thread, and watching your plants progress from ugly rusty seedlings to beautiful women ;)
I'm on my first grow, and simplicity is my goal. It was refreshing to watch a plant grow from start to (almost) finish(ed) without hearing about all of the technical stuff that is usually involved. It helped me out alot, and encouraged me to keep up my grow, even when things aren't looking the best.
I have some questions for you though:
1. I didn't hear you talking about ferts and nutes that much if at all (I can't recall if you mentioned it, if so, sorry). If you used any during vegetative and/or flowering stage, what are they? I'm still confused about what to use, as my plant is 3 weeks old today, and hasn't been fed anything but water, sunshine, and CFLs. The cotyledons just fell off as well, so I figure I'm going to have to start feeding it soon.
2. Since I'm new to growing, I've been gathering information from EVERYwhere to help with my own grow. I've read and heard alot about pruning and topping. Now, I know you pinched off the new growth at the begining, so they'd branch off, but other than that, did you prune off some of the big fan leaves to get more light to the bud spots? Because I would think that it would be an easy way to increase yield.
Other than that, I wish you and your girls the best of luck during the next few weeks leading up to HARVEST! You did a great job, and really inspired me.
Peace,
horror business :rasta:
Hello Mobay :), That's because you are a real Gentlman love and I owe you many thanks and much gratitude :) .
Oh I knew the chap had a problem with me anyway ever since I bumped into him on the chatroom once, I don't know I guess he doesn't like the way I write  ............. anyway Mobay that's his problem not mine.
I know the place is in good hands now though, there are two very respected and well liked members of the boards to keep order Z & L ;)
Thankyou Mobay :)
Hello Buk :), I think it may be a bit too potent for me Buk :o
I took off a small bud from the lower part of the plant yesterday and had ago at drying it in the microwave. Well I kept giving it a few seconds and cutting it up untill I ended up with some over incinerated remains. They looked really the worse for wear by the time I had finished but I managed to make a small joint out of them.
I didn't expect anything from them at all because they looked ruined, so in the evening I smoked it and sat with a glass of Vodka and Orange watching a film. Well you could feel the potentcy from it and it made me feel totally and utterly relaxed. After about thirty minuites I smoked a normal ciggy and then it hit me really hard, the intensity of the high was just that much all I could do was force myself to get up the stairs and go to bed. Well I lay there seeing the beach and the sea, and allsorts of colours and pictures untill I drifted off to sleep.
I'm used to smoking Skunk #1 and weed like that in recent years, so I think this one Buk is going to have to be treated with the upmost repect ;)
Hello Horror and thankyou :), Yes I like to keep it as simple as I can because I'm not to good when things start getting to technical. I'm affraid I can't answer a lot of the questions on here because they go right over my head. I don't know about the different lights only the one I use and I haven't a clue about nutrients, carbon dioxide, Ph values ............ I know they work though because the pics I've seen on here show much larger yeilds than I ever get.
As for nutrients Horror, I do give them a pinch of a plant food called Phostrogen in the watering can from time to time. I don't know if you have it in the US but I've been asked before about it so I'll put a pic on for you to see what it is. By the way Horror it's really cheap, a couple of pounds for a big box and it lasts about three or four grows:)
Good idea to find out all you can, get all the imformation in and when you find that some of it conficts just try to work out which way is best for you. Everyone has different ideas and methods, it's just finding out which way of growing you prefer ;)
No I don't prune them, I did take some leaves off at first with the rust problem but I was a little desperate then so I took drastic measures to ethier "kill or cure" them .............. to be honest I was panicking a bit :o .
Right now some of the fan leaves are starting to die off as the plants are getting towards the end of their life cycle, so if I touch them lightly and they fall off that's ok, but I never try to force them off.
Best wishes with you're grow Horror :)

Thanks mand. I just noticed that my plants 6th node is forming while I was looking at her out in the sun this morning. As soon as I get batteries for my digital camera (hopefully tonight) I'll post them on my thread in the basic growing forum... I believe it's called "My only plant" or something of the sort. It was grown from bagseed... Pretty good mids, but LOADS of seeds. I can't wait until I can try some of my own homegrown. Even though it won't be as potent as your plants or any other strain, I'm hoping it is at least more potent than the bud in which it came from. I'm tired of paying $50 dollars for a quad of mid-grade when I could grow my own of better quality.
Thanks for posting the pic of Phostrogen. When I go to the local plant store I'll be sure to look for it, now that I know what it looks like.
Well, I have more work that needs to be done around the house, so I will talk to you later mand. Have a smoke for me, will you? lol
Peace,
horror business :rasta:
