ive just determined the sex on the five plants thats i was growing and four of them are male and one is a hermie...pissed off...does any1 have a reason for this was it some thing i did wrong or is it just one of those things that happen some times.....
Hello xrayx :)
I'm sorry to hear that :( , out of five plants normally one could expect to have about two or three females.
It my be just one of those things more than likely, but I think that ethier stress or adverse heat/cold can cause hermies.
I'm not quiet sure, see what the other posts say ;)

^^ as he says. I always get 10-20% male, never more.

That sucks man... I always calculate 6/10 seeds to be male just too be on the safe side. If it turns around and bites me in the ass, bad luck all together.
And about Hermies I calculate 1/100

Unless your seeds are feminized, each seed has exactly a 50% chance to be female. However, this does not guarantee 50% females (as you found out), you could have more or less based on chance.
There are environmental factors that can cause the plants to turn from female to male (but not the other way around), such as an irregular light cycle or temperature stress. I think there are others, but I don't know.

Probability that all seeds will turn out male: ((1/(2^Num_Seeds)) * 100) Percent
Probability that you will get at least one female: (100 - ((1/(2^Num_Seeds)) * 100)) Percent

If you give your plants good ventilation, nutrients, water and plenty of light (e.g. conditions are perfect or near-perfect for the plants), I read that sex isn't really 50/50 - more females will be produced than males. That makes sense too, survival-wise, since one male can easily pollinate 10 females. Polygamy! Maybe pot plants are Mormons! ;)

Dont feel bad man, you are NOT alone...
I am on my second grow.
1st one, both turned out male.
2nd one, 3 out of 4 are male... right now the 4th one is undeterminable. I am waiting and waiting for it to show traits of what sex it is.
So at best, I might have 1 out of 6 be female, but i dont even know that yet. I might have gotten screwed again too.
If I do, I am ordering feminized seeds. No more screwing around. I take damn good care of these babies and they looked f#$%ing awesome and still all turned out as males.
